Enjoy Cooking?: The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking any of your favorite dishes. The knives are sharp, the pans are heavy restaurant-quality. There's a Kitchen Aid mixer, Ice Cream maker, Espresso machine, all sorts of baking pans, pie tins and muffin trays. There's even a Waffle Maker, coffee grinder and espresso machine for your lazy mornings! And, you'll be cooking on a gas range of course. The kitchen sink is a big and extra deep-- large enough to brine a turkey in. And the kitchen island is a huge flat working surface made of Adirondack (Lake Placid) Granite. We love it! Clean up is no problem using the large capacity super quiet dishwasher.

Skiing at Whiteface: Whiteface Mountain--Greatest Vertical Drop in the East! Juniper Hill Loj is 1 mile away from the entrance! The mountain is so close (see the pictures!) that we use our walkie-talkies to communicate with the kids when they are skiing! You'll never fight traffic through the notch to make it in time for the first powder of the morning! And, Lake Placid is only 10 miles away--so, after a day of skiing, a fine evening out is very close by!

Ironman Lake Placid: We love IronMan! The house is in a great spot for it being a mile from the bike course. We usually watch the race at the out-and-back in Wilmington which is just a mile away. Remember, at the out-and-back you can stay in one place and see your Ironman 4 times on the bike loop! Parking there is really easy and you don't have to travel on the bike loop to see the race. Since the house is not directly on the bike route there are easy options for traveling either direction towards Keene or Lake Placid--at any time of day. Wilmington is a great, central location to spend your Ironman week--just a bit beyond the chaos of Lake Placid, Very easy to get around on race-day for your cheering squad. Book it now!

Perfect Getaway!

N.D. Scarsdale, NY
Review Submitted: June 18, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My boyfriend and I were looking for a quiet and secluded retreat spot in the Adirondacks. We found that and more at Juniper Hill Loj! The loj, fully appointed with a thoughtful and personal touch through and through, graciously welcomes any traveling guest with its cozy, rustic look and feel. The charm of Juniper Hill Loj is highlighted with magnificent views of Whiteface Mountain from a sprawling deck and large windows of the very homey A-frame chalet. The owners were very accomodating and easy to deal with. We will be recommending Juniper Hill Loj to all of our friends and family!

President's Day Weekend at it's best

BrianBo Metuchen, NJ, USA
Review Submitted: March 3, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
When we saw the pictures that Juniper Hill Loj had to offer, we knew we were in for a treat. This little hideaway is conveniently located about a mile from the entrance to Whiteface mountain which is great because we beat the crowds every morning.

If you are not a skier, have no fear, there is plenty to do in Lake Placid (just a 20min drive). Tour the old Olympic structures or shop downtown. There are also two excellent breweries right in the heart of downtown.

Save some money while on vacation and utilize the full kitchen that awaits back at the chalet. Everything you need to prepare meals is there at your disposal. With a million dollar view of the mountain right out the sliding door, it's hard to not sit and stare and Mother Nature.

The wood burning sauna is a quality amenity at the loj. Five of us sat in the over sized wood barrel relaxing after a long day (just bring ur flashlight). After baking at 174 degrees F, we would star gaze on the enormous deck where even an amateur could pick out the shapes of the constellations (wow was the sky gorgeous at night!!). Once we got cold or tired, we'd retire to some wine and board games by the piano--sitting on the floor was nice because of the radiant floor heat ;)

I can say without a doubt we will return to Juniper Hill Loj as soon as we can. I think the next trip we will plan a summer getaway with out mountain bikes and hiking boots. There is so much to see in this little nook of nature.

Thank you opening your doors to us for an amazing trip!!

Fantastic Place, Great Owner

D416 Toronto, Canada
Review Submitted: January 13, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We did a weekend ski trip here during the December 2008 snow storm(s). The lifties at Whiteface said it was the best powder day they've seen in years, but I don't know if the white-knuckle drive through the blizzard would have been worthwhile without the awesome accommodation at Juniper Hill Lodge.

The chalet itself is a wonder... Rustic and cozy but with all the modern comforts... It's full of 'found objects' ingeniously incorporated into the architectural design. From a tree branch for a shower curtain (don't laugh, it works and looks great), to recovered old doors, to a whiskey barrel made into a wood-fired sauna - Someone put a lot of thought - and a lot of years into making this place what it is. And it is wonderful.

The place is so fully equipped, it feels like you've borrowed a friends cottage. Family photos, magazines, a baby grand piano, personal effects are everywhere, with a friendly hand-written sticky-note if something is reserved for family use only.

The owner was a breeze to deal with, payments and security deposits went back and forth using PayPal, and all were processed promptly.

I'm already planning my next trip to Whiteface and Juniper Hill Lodge.

Ironman location The Best!

TorontoIronman Toronto
Review Submitted: December 14, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Great place to relax before and after the Ironman (2x) ! Beautiful deck and view. Excellent location for accessing the race site and viewing the race.

Support team had an easy time moving around to view the race. We saw all of the early morning swim, we watched the bike portion from 3 different locations and made it back to Lake Placid to view the run and the finish. This location made it quite nice for traveling around on race day.

The house was really nice. Plenty big enough to hang out at and cook for all our friends--the kitchen is great!

We also slept out on the deck one night because the stars were just incredible!

All in all we had a grand time and this rental was perfect!
Thanks!

We usually go camping when we come to the Adirondacks each year for a vacation but this year decided to really treat ourselves to a special time.

And we chose the perfect spot. Fabulous color, amazing view and a welcoming home. Thanks so much for making this trip just perfect!
