Charming oceanfront home with private swimming/dock

This is not your cookie-cutter resort abode - it's a home with all the comfortable feelings of a home. We wanted something away from it all and Casa Marise fit the ticket. A welcome bottle of wine greated us. The location is perfect for shopping, a grocery market is a few miles away, and the island is easy to drive. However, if you arrive at night, I suggest you get a taxi and pick up you rental at the airport the next day (street signage is interesting). Casa Marise is an older home designed to take advantage of the breezes with large opening wooden windows and wooden doors at the front, back and kitchen. Only the bedrooms are airconditioned. Everything was clean and up-to-date and service was excellent. We spent our evenings watching the barges sail past in the distance accented by beautiful sunsets while being entertained by the iguanas and birds. Selma prepared our anniversary dinner, a treat that should not be missed. We cooked outside on the BBQ the other evenings. We also spent an afternoon at the nearby Blue Bay Resort for a little beach time which was a treat. We have already recommended Casa Marise to some of our friends. Remember to bring your own snorkling gear. There is cable TV, but with the spectacular view and wildlife, we NEVER turned it on - a first. WiFi kept us in touch with the outside world. I wouldn't bring small children as the cliff is just off the patio. All-in-All, we'll be back; but next time we will schedule around a full moon. ; > )

We arrived at Casa Marise and were immediately wowed by the amazing views that welcomed us! We had not been to Curacao before, but immediately we felt at home and relaxed (the main purpose of our trip to the islands)! After a nice swim in the crystal clear waters right in front of us, we sat on the porch and watched the sun set on a perfect way to end a day of traveling! The price is amazingly low for the location and house. It's a very calm and peaceful location but close to the city. We rented a car and the drive to the city (Punda) is only about ten to fifteen minutes away. There are lots of nice restaurants in the city and around the island, but we found ourselves making food on the bbq on most nights.
Overall a great experience! Perfect for a get away from the real world while still having the ability to keep in touch with internet.
Amazing value for the price! Highly recommend Casa Marise to anyone looking for a get a way from the busy real world. Will come back for sure!

A friend and I stayed at Casa Marise for a week in June. The home is spacious and elegant, and you can feel the history of the place from the moment you walk in--the proprietor's father built the home forty years ago, and all of the careful details--exposed beams, expansive covered brick patio, huge windows overlooking the sea--reveal the love with which the home was built. It is in excellent condition, and its location in the fishing village of Boca Sami could not be better. You're both close to town and the bustling eastern end of the island, and also a short drive away from quiet beaches and the more rustic western end of the island. The views from the patio are priceless, and there's a very local feel to the neighborhood--it's quiet and not overly touristic. Swimming and sunning at the house was so perfect, it was hard to tear ourselves way to venture to the many beautiful beaches nearby. It was fun to prepare meals in the large, well-appointed kitchen, and there was always a breeze off the sea to keep the house cool. Marise was very helpful to us, recommending good seafood places and other attractions around the island. She grew up in Curacao and is very knowledgeable about the island. The house is a magical place and well worth a few days, weeks, or months of your time!
