Cottage is located in a row of former fisherman's cabins, right on the river! Fisher's Landing is a former old St. Law. fisherman's landing point, and if you know the history, you can still see bits and pieces of that. Ex: Although the primitive riverside cabins have been updated & renovated into cute cottages, the old, dilapidated fisherman's wash house is still visible at this writing, used as an old shed. Surrounding the riverfront cottages is an upscale, seasonal mobile home park.
The neighbors are Very Friendly, and willing to help. You will get a large dose of St. Lawrence river culture! Owner is next door/helpful.
This cottage is being renovated in bits and pieces, and was adequate, & freshly painted. New windows. There have been more renovations done since. Has picnic table & gas grill. View is spectacular, as you will see from the photos. 1000 Island home, on an island in front of you!!
Cottage is small but clean. It's a "cottage" or "cabin", not the Taj Mahal! Two bedrooms with 1 queen each, 4 pillows, and @ 20" of walking space around the beds. There are shelfs/cabinet where you can put stuff. Original plywood floors. Take sm. narrow luggage to have enough room to put it under or next to beds. Otherwise, use the porch to stow your baggage, as we did with our duffle bags.
There is a lovely, sometimes brisk breeze 24/7 blowing straight through the cottage, front to back. (Take jacket). In the living/kitchen area is a double bed futon,1 old but comfortable upholstered reading chair, end table with a small boom box, a couple of shelves, and an old bureau. The table seats 4. The kitchen stove/oven/sink worked fine, and the big, new fridge is nice. Kitchen has newer vinyl tile floor. Kitchen gear was adequate. The living area seats 4 comfortably. Sleeps 6 if need be, but you may bump into each other. However, the area just begs for outdoor exploration, so you won't be in the cottage that much! We weren't! So space might not matter!
The bathroom is tiny, @ 5'x5', but clean & adequate, with new shower stall, decent toilet & small sink & mirror.
Tennis, basketball & campground-style road loop is just outside the door, a minute away. Take sports gear, bikes, & scooters.
The dock is long, sturdy & well maintained, so don't forget your boat, fishing rods, & sand toys for sm. sand beach.
Convenient location for daytrips to Canada!
WARNING: toddlers have quick & easy access to river! Be careful!
Will stay again.
