A delightful location on Penobscot Bay, five-minutes drive from Camden, with its picturesque harbor, full of sailboats from around the world and its own schooner fleet. Trail heads, accessing Camden Hills State Park, are just a few minutes away. Views from the high points in the park are renowned for their extraordinary beauty and expansiveness, inspiring artists and poets for generations.
Surrounded by woods and fields, with a path to our private ocean shore, our deliciously cozy apartment is perfect for couples of all ages. It is situated in five acres of woods with several hundred feet of shoreline and is located about 100 feet from the main house. A footpath leads to the shore with views of the islands and passing sailboats, and where wind and tide bring sometimes subtle, sometimes dramatic changes, from day to day.
Guests may stroll through our organically certified vegetable garden nearby, where vegetables are free for the picking!

Thank you so much for a lovely long weekend. We enjoyed all things Maine--windjammer sail, lake swimming, seafood and watching a fisherman pick up lobster traps from our private beach! You have a lovely home & garden and we felt so welcomed here. We hope to see you again and will certainly recommend this retreat to friends! Thanks again.
A lovely apartment, cozy, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Just a short walk through the woods until you arrive upon your very own private piece of paradise on earth, the Rocky Maine Coast. It doesn’t get any better than to relax, watch the waves lap up on the rocks and the birds fly by. Lucy and John are gracious hosts that charge a reasonable fee to enjoy their property. What more could you ask for? Needless to say, we are looking forward to our next visit.
My husband and I came here for a week to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, and I have to say it may have been better than our honeymoon in Puerto Rico!! We loved the apartment- it was the perfect size for the two of us and it is so quiet and private. I couldn't believe how many stars you can see at night and how peaceful it is! I was so impressed with how well stocked the apartment was having everything we could need or think of- definitely a bonus compared to a hotel. The stroll to the private oceanfront was a lot longer than I was expecting, but well worth the short walk down to relax and enjoy the views. We loved everything about this place and our first trip to Maine. The views are incredible and so relaxing- whether we were sitting on the oceanfront, on the deck of the apartment, walking the harbors of Camden & Belfast, swimming in Lake Megunticook, or hiking in Camden Hills State Park, there were beautiful views surrounding us. Overall it was even better than we expected, and we hope to come back again!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. We came up for his 30th birthday and spent four nights. We thought it was a great location for staying in the Camden area. There's a small beach right down the road that you can walk to. The apartment was very clean and nice and bright with all the windows. It felt like we were a part of the forest while we were inside. We got fresh strawberries from their garden(along with some other veggies). They were amazing! The kitchen comes fully stocked which was great for me because I have a lot of food allergies and have to bring a lot of my own food with me on trips. There's a nice selection of DVDs to watch. The owners were both very nice people. I would highly recommend this property to family and friends. The organic farm in itself is a nice bonus when staying at this place. Also, it's not as busy once you leave Camden and come up this way. We highly recommend Monhegan Island if you have the time. The ferry out was a bit rough the day we went but the island is breathtaking. Make sure to hike to the cliffs on the opposite side of the island. We also enjoyed our visit into Belfast. There's a harbor walk and a good food co-op in that town. My favorite restaurant was Miranda's café in Rockland. The menu is huge with reasonable prices. We ate at Shepard's Pie in Rockport which had good food too. Be sure to make reservations these places book fast and most of the time we ended up at the bar.
Thank you very much to the owners for a great stay!
If for no other reason than to meet John and Lucy, stay here! They are amazing hosts that could not do enough for us. Just fabulous people who we consider ourselves very lucky to have come across.
Their apartment is very comfortable but the toilet might be an issue for someone who is very tall, say 6'4" or more. Other than that we loved everything about the place. Who can ask for more than a private walkway to the pretty much private beach. And to pick your own fresh salad veggies from their organic garden, just great!. The deck is great for mornings to plan out the day or at night with a glass of wine. We spent a fir amount of time there and loved it. Again, all very private.
I'm not really sure what else to say other than I wholeheartedly recommend staying with John and Lucy. They are great and their place is great. We hope to be back very soon!
And when you do stay here, check out the Shepards Pie and the Salt Water farm in Rockport. Both great restaurants. And both very nearby!
My husband and just got home after spending a week in Maine. The Ashgrove was a wonderful place to stay. It was clean, decorated nicely and organized with everything you could possibly need. John and Lucy were very nice also. The pictures displayed were accurate to the property.
We enjoyed the view from our deck and the pivate beach. Also, there is a skylight in the bedroom with a beautiful view of the stars at night. Lucy gave us suggestions of places to eat and have coffee. I am missing "Dot's" already. It had great coffee and food to go or eat in. I had "quiche to go" twice! We also had great food at The Whale's Tooth and Chez Michel's. I had steamed lobster at both places. All of these places are right in Lincolnville.
We were close to Camden and all the shops. "Fresh" was a bakery in Camden with cookies and brownies to die for!!!!
Lincolnville Beach was within walking distance. We spent a day in Bar Harbor which is about an hour and half away. There is a ferry in Lincolnville that takes you to Islesboro Island. We spent a day riding our bikes there. It had beautiul views of the water and several beaches with nobody around but us!!!!! We even rode our bikes to the ferry and did not have to pay the $10 parking fee.
I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a nice private place to stay that is close to many attractions.
