Chateau du Ludaix has an interesting history dating back to the sixteenth century,although the present magnificent building was built in 1823. The garden is full of secret corners with a tree-lined alley - a perfect place to stroll in the heat of the sun. The chateau is located on the edge of the small town of Marcillat. You can walk there for your bread every morning and visit the market on Thursdays. There is a bank, supermarket and a range of small shops and cafes. The countryside is charming - lots of woods and lakes and close to the magnificent National Park of the Auvergne. The sophisticated town of Vichy with its wonderful shops and restaurants iwhich s just over an hour away. Your holiday in the Chateau du Ludaix means that you become the master/mistress of this beautiful property with its wealth of history spacious living rooms and luxurious bedroom suites. The accommodation comprises of: Ground Floor. The Hall, this entrance to the chateau has a curved marble staircase up to a spacious landing. The Living Room A beautifully proportioned room facing south with a high ceiling, stone fireplace and a marble floor. It is comfortably furnished with settees and easy chairs and there is a dining table and chairs for use when you want to eat in less formal surroundings. The Kitchen, a beautifully fitted small kitchen with dishwasher, two fridges, a freezer and a six burner cooker. The Dining Room, this room is one of the most beautiful in the chateau with its south facing windows and yellow brocade curtains. Opening off this is the library with easy chairs and a French window into the garden. There is a tiny circular tower room, which is perfect for meditation or our visiting masseurs.
The first floor Romeo and Juliet bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and small balcony overlooking the side garden. On the same corridor is Mamma's suite a large twin bedroom with a circular tower room salon, and a shower room. The Leopard Suite has one large bedroom with double half tester bed and a large bathroom with separate shower. It also has a small salon with single bed and a large balcony. The Tower Suite consists of two bedrooms - one double, one twin with a south facing salon and a beautiful bathroom with an antique bath in a circular tower room. The Art Deco Suite is a large double bedroom overlooking the side garden with its' own separate shower room. The Henri Suite has an antique French bed decorated in a charming blue and white print. It has a sitting room and its own shower room. The David Lawson Suite is named after an author who often comes here to write. It consists of a large sunny bedroom with a double bed, a small study with a single bed and a lovely bathroom.
