Casa Caterina, in the Heart of the Old Center of Florence

How lucky we were to find Casa Catarina—and the owner, Catarina, herself. Catarina and her son, Filippo, who is the English-speaker of the two, were so welcoming and helpful when we arrived in Florence. The apartment, which is in a building a few steps from the Piazza del Duomo, could not have been more conveniently located. It is spacious, comfortable and attractively decorated, located amid the hustle and bustle of this beautiful city. We were able to find everything we needed within a short walk, including a small grocery next door, a supermarket, as well as the wonderful large Mercato Sant’Ambrogio. There’s a small cafe on the corner that sells delicious panini and pastry. Shopping and cooking in our own kitchen gave us the feeling of really “living” in Italy. We could walk everywhere—one of the delights of Florence. It was a pleasure to return to our lovely Casa Catarina after our daily outings. We stayed for two weeks, and were very sad to leave. Maybe we can stay longer next time!! Thank you Catarina and Fillipo for making us feel “at home” in your home!

We stayed in this beautiful apartment in Oct. 2012. The location is so close to everything, restaurants,
the Duomo, lots of hand made leather shops, museums, it is all within just a few blocks of the
apartment. The city is just right outside your door. But it was surprisingly quiet too. There is a little grocery store downstiars directly next door which was very convienient too. The apartment is nicely decorated, and the furniture was very comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen was great, although there are so many fantastic restaurants in Florence we did not cook in for dinners. We would highly reccommend this apartment to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Florence. We would stay there for a week next time at least. The owners were very nice, and we made all our arrangements in advance online and by phone which was really handy while traveling and we had no problems at all. I wish we were there right now.

The apartment was in a great location, just a short block from the Duomo, with a convenient grocery store just next door. The apartment had everything we needed, from laundry soap to tea bags to a little vin santo we sampled! Caterina was very warm and welcoming and she was very responsive to emails and phone calls. The apartment was clean and the pictures represented the apartment well. The bells from the Duomo rang early in the morning but that was ok as we are early risers. But it was nice to get out and walk around the Duomo area before the hoards of tour groups arrived.

We had a great time in Florence and I would highly recommend this place to family and friends. The location made getting to all the sites very easy and within short walking distance. Thanks Caterina and Filippo for a wonderful stay in Florence!
