If fishing is your fancy, Kenai Lake feeds the world famous upper Kenai River and Russian River confluence, known for its world record counts of Sockeye (Red) Salmon. In late summer, Silver Salmon are exciting to fish among the many spawning Sockeye. If salmon doesn’t interest you, the upper Kenai River is known for its awesome Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden. These fish are a challenge, but so much fun to catch in the crystal clear waters of the river.
If hiking and wildlife viewing is more your interest, there are many trails to choose from. In the late summer, you can hike to the Russian River Falls to watch the salmon jump the falls to reach their spawning grounds. The Resurrection Pass Trail is also a very popular hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trail. If you’re an avid hiker, you can go for the ultimate adventure from the trailhead in Cooper Landing to the small community of Hope, some 36 miles. Along the trail is 6 Forest Service cabins (at intervals) and reservations are required.
Only 45 minutes away in Seward Alaska, is the amazing fisheries of Resurrection Bay. Charter a boat for the day and catch Halibut, Ling Cod, and in late summer, Silver Salmon. Seward is home to the Silver Salmon Derby in late summer. Seward is also home to an up-close and personal experience with a glacier. Exit Glacier, is located right outside Seward, a short hike to the glacier for an experience you won’t forget and the coldest water you’ve ever felt. The Sea Life Center is also another excellent place to take the kids, see and experience the wonders of the Alaskan waters.
Whether you want an awesome fishing trip with your buddies or a family vacation enjoying the outdoors, a trip to Alaska will be a “reel” vacation we guarantee you won't forget!
Ken and Jennifer live in Cooper Landing. Ken is an excellent fisherman and knows the techniques necessary to be successful in the various streams, rivers, and lakes on the Kenai Peninsula.
Ken Scott purchased this house in 2005
We chose Cooper Landing as our home, because of the awesome views, close proximity to numerous outdoor activites, and the peaceful setting.
Fishing, Horseback Riding, Kayaking, Hiking, Wildlife Viewing, Deep Sea Fishing, Whitewater Rafting, Mountain Biking
Thanks for making my 60th Birthday celebration awesome. Your hospitality was above and beyond. We loved your home.
This house far exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend it for any fishing trip departing Cooper Landing. The owners were very easy to deal with and we look forward to returning.
Beautiful views of surrounding mountains. I only wish I had stayed longer. This will be my first pick on my next trip to Cooper Landing.
Be sure to hire a guide to go fishing. We hired Fishing for Fun and had a wonderful day fishing on the upper Kenai. I caught 7 fish and my son caught more than 25.
This house is wonderful; lots of room for sleeping, relaxing and hanging out on the deck. Due to its central location in Cooper Landing, Seward is an easy ride down one side of the Kenai Peninsula, while Homer is a simple ride down the other side. Hiking in the Cooper Landing area is excellent. Since the house is located on a road that is 25-35mph and near other roads which are just as safe, it’s a perfect location if there are any runners in the family (we had 3). We highly recommend the house & hope to return someday!
This property is highly recommended! We were on our 3rd fishing trip on the Kenai and found this rental house on line. We were more than surprised when we arrived. Home was nicer then the pics. Spacious and exceptionally clean. Beds were also very comfortable which I rarely find in rentals.
Amenities were excellent!!! Many items were unexpected and provided by homeowner!
Ken and Jennifer were very accomodating and their location for our purposes was fantastic!
Without a doubt the accomdations were much better than expected. We will surely be rebooking again!!
Thanks Ken and Jennifer for making this a wonderful trip!!!
This is a beautiful, comfortable home with the most amazing views! The home and property are even better than the pictures! It was nice to be greeted by the owner upon arrival and we were so pleased with the whole process of renting this home. This property is located in a great mountain location nestled among majestic trees in a quiet area away from the road. When first entering the home, the awesome views of the mountains and trees from the floor to ceiling (high, vaulted ceiling!) windows grabbed our attention immediately, and we were so excited to be staying there for three nights! The home itself was immaculate and well-cared for. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the layout of the home with one bedroom and bathroom downstairs and two bedrooms and a bath upstairs. We all felt that we had our own space in this roomy home. There is no wifi connection, which ended up being a bonus as we were able to enjoy the collection of videos, books, and games with our two adult children in the evenings. The washer and dryer were also especially convenient. While there, we enjoyed a float trip down the Kenai River, a trip to Seward (about an hour away) for an all day Kenai Fjords boat trip, and explored the towns of Soldotna and Kenai, also about an hour or so away. There are limited grocery and restaurant options in Cooper Landing, so it was nice to be warned of this by the owners before our arrival. We brought groceries with us when we arrived and that worked out fine. This has got to be one of the best homes in the Cooper Landing area and we would love to return someday and would definitely recommend this property to our friends!
