Loon's Ridge is Awesome!

My husband and I just wanted a place to get away from it all before his busy season at work started. We didn't want to stay a full week and they accommodated us by renting us their home for 4 nights. We were greeted on our arrival on Sunday evening by Gene & Martha, the owners of the home. They gave us the tour and told us to make ourselves at home. There was a lovely gift basket for us, too! Everything, and I mean everything we could have possibly needed was provided in that home, including paper plates and trash bags and cooking oil & a fry daddy. There was just the 2 of us, but this 4 year old home had 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths, so we could have brought our entire family, but that was not the point of our renting the place. We had a spectacular view of the lake as the home sits up on a hill. You definately will want to make sure you take everything with you down to the lake as the climb up the steps can tire you out quickly (if you're not in shape). The home sits on Rainbow Lake which connects with Reed Lake. We visited during the last week in May and felt like the lake belonged to us. We only saw about 8 other people around both lakes. We didn't see anyone on their properties, either, so it was like we owned the lake for those 4 days. It is a no wake lake, too, which was awesome. Loon's Ridge has a very nice pontoon boat, which we used a lot because we wanted to fish. It also has kayaks and a pedal boat, which we never used. The fishing wasn't the greatest, but just being on the lake was relaxing. We heard the loons calling every day/night and even saw them many times...what a wonderful sound they make! This home has 2 decks to enjoy...one huge one with a nice patio table and one small one off the master bedroom with a small table and 2 chairs. This home even has internet, which is only hooked up for 6 months of the year and it had not been hooked up, yet, so Gene promptly called and had it hooked up so I could use my laptop for communication, as cell phone service is not the greatest in that area. The internet service was far better than what we have at home. There was just so much to enjoy at Loon's Ridge...we watched the birds on the feeders, we watched movies, ate on the deck, fished from the pontoon, went into Baldwin and bowled at an 8 lane bowling alley, and most of all just enjoyed being alone together and relaxing. If the house is left as clean as it was on arrival there is no cleaning fee, either!
