Guestbook comments from the owner
June 16-July 14, 2007

Enjoyed your home so much last year as a guest of my brother - decided to bring our family out this year. Had a total of 11 family off & on during our stay.Everyone marveled at the view - the accommodations - and your hospitality.

You are the most considerate and thoughtful landlord. The Humming bird feeders were a great success. We had as high as 10 birds at one time.

Thank You!

We live an hour away in Fort Collins.

We have vacationed all over and often rented homes to stay in, and those were our best vacation memories.

Gary Peak purchased this house in 2005

It's all about the view! This area of the Rockies is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and one of the few very beautiful locations that has year-round activities.

The location and convenience are a nice bonus, but the views were the main consideration in choosing this property.Every room, every window in this house has a great view. We looked for years at Estes Park and Grand lake for a second home that would be an investment and eventually a retirement home for us. We saw lots of properties with no nice view, or tiny windows, or neighbors too close, too small,or too 'inconvenient' to get to. This home is in a perfect, very quiet spot. Our neighbors are few, they are not close by, and do not spoil the view. Getting to the Park, the restaurants, and the shopping are easy from this location. On Summer weekends when the town is jammed with tourists, it is easy to bypass the traffic by using Peak View and Riverside drive.

We love to go hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, and access to the park is quick and easy from this location. The drive to the Park from our property does not go through town and traffic is never an issue even on Summer weekends.

We have gone a bit overboard with guest amenities.

No vacation home has more entertainment options. The home theater with video games and movies will occupy the kids down stairs while the adults enjoy the view and 50 inch plasma tv upstairs.

A LABOR DAY WEEKEND SPENT IN HEAVEN!

  • 5 of 5
This is the perfect house for families, don't look any further!!! It was after much time and research trying to find the perfect house to accomodate the FIVE teenagers accompanying us on our Labor Day trip that we picked Gary's 'Dream Lake' house. We couldn't have been more pleased! The listing description is accurate, the home is very clean, comfortable, spacious and family-friendly. It came equipped with ample ammenities to accomodate our large group of 12. We felt so relaxed our entire stay. We had everything we could want, short of a hot tub! Hint, hint, Gary! The property management group and the home owner,Gary, were so easy to work with. Thank you all for taking such good care of us and making our trip a piece of cake to coordinate! This was my family's first time to Colorado and RMNP. All their suggestions really paid off, they have the "inside scoop" on Estes and RMNP! We went to Sweet Basillico's to eat our first evening there. They have a lovely outdoor deck and covered dining area built right by a stream. I highly recommend this restaurant for its atmosphere, excellent customer service and great food(: We had a blast walking downtown Estes Park, popping into the coffee houses and shops. The Stanley Hotel is beautiful and offers a fun ghost tour. It has a nice bar and restaurant too. Our hikes to Ouzal Falls, Bear Lake, Flat Top Mountain and Long's Peak were nothing short of amazing. Unparrelled beauty. We also enjoyed a drive along Trail Ridge Road, enjoying the views and stopping at the Alpine Visitor's Center to shop and sight see. We went on a two-hour trail ride from Sombrero Ranch up into the mountains. This was SO much fun and our guides took excellent care of us. The home's huge, movie screen/tv in the basement was such a luxury after our long days of hiking and sight seeing. It was a big hit with the kids to play Wii on! We all enjoyed the ease of this home's close location to the park and downtown, yet it couldn't have been built in a more lovely spot for its mountain and lake views. We sat out on its deck every chance we got. The views from the deck, especially at sunrise, are positively majestic....the sun rising over Mary's Lake, the cool mountain air, the herds of mule deer and elk grazing just below....it just fills your heart and soul with its beauty...we can't wait to go back. We fell in love with RMNP and Estes, everyone must experience this heavenly place atleast once! Thank you, Gary and staff, for all the memories!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review!
You spent a good deal of your time in Rocky Mountain National Park,
which is the "real" attraction up here with its awesome natural beauty. We are lucky to have a location that makes it very easy to get to the Park or to town.
You and your family had a wonderful vacation and I hope you can make it back. I am considering a hot tub with your suggestion for the future.
Thanks,
Gary

PERFECT HOUSE!!!!

  • 5 of 5
Just got back from a week in this "perfect" house for our family. All my family agreed it was the perfect home for our vacation in Estes. Park. We had 3 different families staying there (6 adults and 2 children). Everyone had their own space, and plenty of room to get together for meals, games, movies etc. From the moment we walked in, we felt at home. Music was playing and the candy jar was waiting 😀 The views were amazing. We had deer, turkey, chipmunks, and hummingbirds visit while we were there. Gary had told us the deer like apples and oranges, so the kids had fun feeding them. This house has absolutely anything and everything you could possibly want, and then some. Before our arrival, Gary sent us detailed lists of kitchen equipment, movies available ( you can't even believe how many movies he has ) , the gaming systems and games he has, and all the other amenities in this house. Way too many to mention here. But, believe me he has thought of everything!! We have rented VRBO's before, but NEVER have we had a more helpful property owner. It was like having our own personal concierge. He sent us tons of information before the trip, and any time I emailed him with a question, he did some research and got right back to me with even more brochures, his opinions, and ideas. Even while we were there, he checked in with us and gave us his recommendations on where to watch the 4th of July Fireworks. Thanks again, Gary! 👍. Our week in Estes was awesome! We hiked in RMNP, we did ATVs ( what a blast), we did river rafting ( the guide said it was the perfect conditions this year), we did the Stanley ghost tour and dinner there, rode the tram and fed the chipmunks, drove Trail Ridge Road, and ate at Grand Lake Lodge, took the kids to Fun City, watched the amazing fireworks on the 4th, shopped downtown, cooked out, played games, had an outdoor scavenger hunt and much more. It was truly one of our best vacations ever. Would definitely recommend this home. We will be back, for sure. Thanks again, Gary

DON'T PASS UP THIS PROPERTY - IT IS AWESOME!

DON'T PASS UP THIS PROPERTY - IT IS AWESOME!

I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is visiting the Estes Park area. I stayed in this home for 6 nights this spring with 13 other adults. It was like a home away from home for us. It was very clean and well maintained and in a great location. It is located in a quiet area where you can go for walks without dealing with traffic, but easy to get to anyplace you would want to go. We ate most of our meals at the house and the kitchen was equipped with everything we could have ever wanted, including a dishwasher. There is a very large dining room table, plus TV trays if you need them. We all had comfortable beds (a few slept on sofa sleepers) and there was plenty of bedding. It was fabulous having three full baths and a washer and dryer on the premises. If you are a TV watcher, that is covered too - there is a huge TV on the lower level, one in the living room on the main floor, and one in a bedroom. A computer with internet access and a printer are provided. There are beautiful views from the deck. We saw deer, turkeys, and elk. Look no further - this is a great place for your trip to Estes Park!

JUST BRING YOURSELF!

  • 5 of 5
This place has it all. Just move in and enjoy! Of course the sights surrounding it are totally awesome. But, when you are back at the house after a long day of hiking, skiing, shopping or whatever, you'll relax in style. The kitchen would put many to shame with all its utensils and equipment, i.e. blender, popcorn popper, kitchen aid mixer, bread machine, fryer and the list goes on. No lack of entertainment either. There's a large screen TV up stairs and a theater style unit downstairs that is larger then life. Oh yes, and don't forget about the satellite radio incorporated into the system for endless music while you lounge away. The main bedroom has an awesome view of a Rocky Mountain sunrise and the living room windows let you quickly know your are living in the mountains. The neighborhood is really quite and off the beaten path. The place was super clean when we arrived and we were provided with all the instructions necessary to operate and enjoy all the amenities. Gary, the owner, called us up during the stay to make sure we were happy and all our needs were met. We ate a lot of meals at the house, but we also went out to the many restaurants around town. If you have never been to Estes Park you will find out you can find any kind of food at just about any price range. Our vacations was centered around cross country skiing. If you are into back country, you will find no better. If you like a groomed trail, you will have to drive an hour South to Eldora. But, we found locally that you can drive Trail Ridge Road up to the barricades where they close it for the winter and you can ski the road towards the continental divide. It is not a groomed trail, but it gives you a more uniform ski surface then back country. It's windy up there, but there seems to be plenty of snow on the road and a fantastic view is around every bend. Anyway, if you are considering a place in the mountains, anytime of year, I would highly recommended this place. I know we will be back! Brian from Nebraska

The kitchen is well equipped with two toasters, two coffee makers, an espresso/cappuccino machine, coffee grinder, a microwave, blender, mixer, malt mixer, bread maker, donvier-style ice cream maker, two crock pots, one 8.5 qt, one 1.5 qt., rice cooker, and numerous pots, pans and utensils. another microwave is in the lower living area. In addition to our matching setting for 16, the property has plenty of everyday plates, silver, cups and glasses, etc. There are two gas grilles. One is steps away from the kitchen on the south deck. The other grill is located on the lower level covered flagstone patio. This grill gets little use but is very nice to have if it rains.
