WALK TO PLAZA, COZY CASITA MONTOYA, ROMANTIC ADOBE, SKI NEARBY

Taos Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bath, sleeps 2, 2-night minimum

Casita Montoya is the perfect place for romance. Great skiing at nearby Taos Ski Valley ; walk to historic Taos Plaza. 2-night min. exc. holidays. All-new furnishings, a/c, bedroom skylight, King bed, down comforter, LL Bean thick towels, wireless net, and a fenced-in backyard with tall cottonwoods. If you're drawn to Taos, you're probably a skier (it's excellent at nearby Taos Mountain) or you’re spiritual (our upstairs loft even has a meditation bench) or you’re into health and fitness (yoga mat and weights supplied.) Wood floors and ceilings in both rooms add a special charm and the hand-plastered walls in the newly-constructed bedroom are tinted a salmon color that makes your skin look fantastic. There’s a well-equipped kitchenette in the living room or walk to excellent restaurants nearby. Gas fireplace stove has a thermostat so you can be as toasty as you want. Small bathroom has Mexican tiles and hand-painted sink. Off-street parking. Rates include all taxes. Dog

Only Fabulous People Stay Here: We're incredibly lucky: only fabulous people have stayed at Casa Montoya and we expect the same for Casita Montoya. Casita looks much better than the photos. Landscaping was done but it snowed before we could take new photos.

One good dog is allowed but you might talk me into two. Ask about the pet fee.

Skiing Information: Nearby Taos Ski Valley is a world-class ski resort with an outstanding ski school. Ski during the day, then come home and get a massage or stroll to Taos Plaza or excellent restaurants just blocks from Casita Montoya.

PERFECT LITTLE CASITA

  • 5 of 5
This was a perfect little Casita! Ellen was quick to reply to our every question and need. The casita was charming and perfect for 2 people; however, I must admit the shower, although functional, is a wee bit small. It is within about 1/2 a mile to the plaza and many of the art galleries. The backyard would have been a perfect place for a dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: Casita Montoya attracts fabulous guests, like these wonderful people. And when they come back, they'll get a 10% discount as "regulars." Yep, I wish the shower were bigger but because it's not, we charge less than almost all the other one-bedroom rentals in Taos. But there is a sweet, private fenced-in backyard.

COZY CASITA

  • 4 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in this quiet, comfortable, cozy, well-equipped casita--good value. Everything worked well, including the heating on cold nights! It has a lovely little yard which we unfortunately weren't able to use because it was a bit chilly! It is also within easy walking distance of the centre of Taos.

Owner's Response: Yes! Just when the lilac buds were starting to burst forth, we got snow. How blessed we are to have only fabulous people attracted to our casita.

LOVED IT-

  • 5 of 5
Casita Montoya is the perfect place to stay while in Taos! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this sweet apartment. It is exactly as described. Very clean and supplied with everything you could ever need. Ellen is extremely helpful, responsive and thoughtful.
We loved being able to walk to the plaza and restaurants. We loved Michael's Kitchen for their delicious southwestern fare. Taos Inn was fun for the best margaritas and nachos in town as well as the live music.
We explored the ski area even though we visited in the off season but found some excellent hiking in the Carson National Forest. Then on our way north stopped by the Earthship community, a uniquely interesting way of living .
Thank you, Ellen, for providing and sharing this little home away from home with us!

PERFECT WEEKEND GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
Casita Montoya was the perfect place for myself, a friend, and my dog to spend a winter weekend in Taos. I have high expectations and this place did not let me down. The best was more comfortable than my own at home, the separate living room/kitchen area provided an extra space to spread out, and the cute, little bathroom was just right for our needs. The cherry on top was the private yard with a lovely tree and no neighbors behind. I can't wait to go back during warmer weather and sit outside to enjoy it once more! Oh, and did I mention the location is perfect?!

Owner's Response: How wonderful that the word "best" slipped out instead of "bed." I'm grateful for my guests. When Alejandra comes back, she'll get a 10% discount as a "regular."

GREAT SPOT

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in this casita and loved it. It is nicely organized with everything that we needed. The bed is super comfortable, just what we needed for s good rest after big days of hkihg and skiing. Ellen is a wonderrful host. The casita is a quick walk to the Plaza. We will definately return! We have stayed in the adjoining Casa as well in the past, which is also great.

AWESOME ADVENTURE!

  • 5 of 5
We just got home form a 5 night stay in the casita. It was my husband and me.The place was immaculate. We went to both Angel Fire and Taos ski Valley. We also went hiking to the gorge and also walked the plaza. This location was great! The casita was the perfect size. We didn't use all that was available but we could have cooked and sipped wine at home each day. We will definitely be coming back. I am not sure we would have walked to the Plaza after dark mainly because there were a lot of big dogs in the neighborhood that we weren't sure were friendly but it was certainly close enough. We didn't bring our dog but the yard would have been perfect if we had. Wonderful perfect stay!

Considered 'sacred' by many of the residents, Taos Mountain is a world-class ski resort with an outstanding ski school. Taos has a rich history and cultural heritage, with numerous galleries, museums, metaphysical shops and festivals you can walk to from Casita Montoya. Must-see: the Gorge Bridge over the Rio Grande, and Wild Rivers Recreation Area, a deep canyon where the Rio Grande meets Red River and is great for hikers with lots of energy. Great Sand Dunes National Park is just over the border in Colorado.

Other Activities: Taos Mountain is a world-class ski resort

Notes:
This casita has a curved stairway to a charming loft for meditation, gazing out the window, looking down on your partner preparing dinner (or watching your partner look up at you, wondering when you're going to start dinner), storing your luggage, etc. You can't stand up in it (unless you're really, really short) but there's a meditation bench and a table with short legs, a rug and lounging pillows. Soothe your muscles after skiing - $70 for one hour massage. My friend will bring her massage table. Check before you grocery shop since we provide teas, mayo, ketchup, salt, sugar, etc. Bring your laptop (we have wireless Internet) and your cell phone (we don’t have a telephone). A well-behaved dog (no cats please, because of allergies) is welcome, however there is a pet fee and you're required to pick up after your pet.
