'What a great spot! Thanks for such wonderful hospitality and the notes were so helpful…………………..Thanks again for everything. Next time we'll have to stay longer. There's so much to do and great places to explore in the area.'

'Thank you Kelly! Your cottage is beautiful and provided us with a much needed getaway. Thank you again for being so helpful!'
'Just wanted to send a note that we’ve arrived home safe and sound after a wonderful week up at your cottage. We didn’t have the best weather until the last two days, but we enjoyed watching movies when it rained and just relaxing. It was exactly what the Doctor ordered.
Thanks for all the notes around the cottage to help out!'
'It was a beautiful cottage; the screened-in porch was a dream come true. We had a wonderful week listening to the loons and watching the flycatchers do their work. We'd happily recommend your place to any of our friends looking for a week away.
'On the front porch off the kitchen we had morning coffee and ended our day there with afternoon cocktails, all the while taking in the incredible view; we ate every meal in the beautiful room beside the kitchen – it was amazing with the morning’s fresh air and cool evening breezes sweeping through the screens………….. Irene.
'I just want to thank you for allowing us to rent your beautiful cottage, it was beyond our expectations! Five days was just not enough. Here are a couple of pics of our family enjoying your cottage. Thanks for the tips re: fishing, we had great success!
Thank you'. Charlena
'We're back! We had a wonderful time. It was soooo relaxing, it felt like we were away for a week. The cottage is on such a nice lake and it was incredibly quiet. We ended up sleeping on the futon, which was surprisingly comfortable.....we seriously slept so deelpy, and so much, because it was super quiet. It was just what we needed.
We really enjoyed sitting on the screened porch every morning for breakfast and lunch, but spent most of our days lying on one of the floating docks sunbathing and reading,or our evenings with Greg fishing, and me reading in the boat. It was so peaceful. Thanks for all your help and letting us rent your home. We'll definately be back again....we were so sad to leave. Once I get my pictures on the computer, I'll email you some.
Talk to you soon'. Lorian
'we LOVED staying at your cottage. As soon as we walked in the front door, we were struck by how homey everything felt and really looked forward to unwinding there for the week. We also marvelled at how you obviously put so much time and effort into the Victorian cottage decor. The views from the kitchen and screened porch were really beautiful -- it was nice seeing just row boats, canoes, and paddle boats go by rather than the constant zooming of motor boats. Although the shallow part was too silty for our young children to stand, they enjoyed going out to the swim docks and accessing the water from there. The easy access to Haliburton and other nearby beaches was also a nice plus. We put the information you left in your detailed orientation binder to good use. Thanks again for a really lovely week. We would love to come back again!
'Just wanted to thank you for letting us enjoy your cottage for a week. We had a great time!
It was the first time for me to try out fishing and I was happy that I actually caught a fish. We also enjoyed two rounds of golf at Blairhampton golf course and enjoyed the scenery as much as the golf. Haliburton is a great little place and we enjoyed the arts and crafts fair there on Friday. Of course enjoying our meals overlooking the lake was just fabulous! To top off the day with a fire at the lake's edge was perfect. I enjoyed the lovely garden and the sun in the afternoon at the front of the cottage.'

Had a very relaxing couple of weeks here. Ideal for quiet reading, meditation, catching up on movies and dvds. Cabin is situated on the top of a hill so it's a bit of a hike to get up and down to the lake. There is no beach or swimming at the property. You will need to paddle out to one of the swimming platforms. Fairly quick drive to town to get any supplies you need. No issues with the cabin. It's very rustic and charming but surprisingly large. The very large screened-in room was a favourite spot to read. Only quibble would be that the mattresses were somewhat uncomfortable but that is often the charm of roughing it in the woods. I expect I'll be back again.
We recently stayed at Kelly's cottage for a week, had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing time and were sorry to leave; it is a very nice well taken care of cottage in a good location.
I agree with Eva from Toronto's full description about the cottage itself in the review immediately preceding this one. Also, Having everything labelled in the cottage, along with the instruction sheet was very helpful and appreciated.
It rained fairly regularly for varying lengths of time but we always found something to do - including importantly enjoying just relaxing in the peace and quiet - it's funny how easily you can forget what daytime silence sounds like until you have the chance to enjoy it again. It was quite nice to hear loons and other birds rather than sea-doos and power boats going by.
Overall it was very enjoyable and relaxing week and we appreciated everything the cottage had to offer.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for the Civic long weekend and we had an amazing time. The cottage is beautiful and the scenery will take your breath away. Trees surround the entire cottage to provide absolute privacy, the lake is stunning and the decor in the cottage creates a cozy feeling. It was extremely hard to return to the city after being here. You won't be dissapointed renting this cottage. I know we will be returning here in the future :)
We've just returned from spending a very relaxing week at Kelly's cottage.
The cottage has a certain French / English country cottage charm. The red shutters and green trim exterior fit perfectly within the mixed forest, making the first impression very welcoming. The interior, decorated in burgundy and green is very cosy and bright, with ample sitting areas for reading. I especially liked the master bedroom with the large windows on 2 sides, making the room feel like you're in the forest, and waking up in the morning to the sun rising is quite beautiful! The sky light also made for a very bright and cheery room. However, I must say, the futon bed was not very comfortable.
Negaunee Lake is very small and unfortunately, the hopes for a fish fry dinner were soon quashed. Luckily the Foodland store in Haliburton has a fairly good seafood counter! The kitchen is well equipped, and we enjoyed preparing many tasty gourmet meals. The large screened in porch, surrounded by the trees, again gives you the feeling of being outdoors, without the mosquitoes! Very nice indeed! The cottage is nestled in a quiet peaceful location up on a hill, with a beautiful view of the lake, but it is shady and finding a spot for sunbathing was a challenge. The shoreline/dock has a limited area to lie down for sunning and no lounge chairs are available. Sitting on the Muskoka chairs by the water for the morning sun however was comfortable enough. You can not swim directly from the dock/shoreline as it is shallow and the bottom is mucky, so swimming was only achievable by going out by boat to the floating dock in the middle of the lake.
All in all, we enjoyed our relaxing week, reading during the day and watching movies at night. There is a very large selection of videos to choose from with no problem finding one to our liking! Because Negaunee Lake does not allow any gas powered motors, it was very peaceful day and night. A canoe would be a perfect addition in this serene spot for paddling the glass-like water in the early evening.
We would love to see this place in the fall!
Cottage is clean with a very nice view. Spacious kitchen with a large harvest table. Nice screened in porch for those hot summer days. Very shady property! For swimming, you have to paddle the boat out to the dock as lake is very low. Overall, comfortable place to stay!
Great place very rustic but clean and well decorated...have stayed there several times. Great location close to haliburton. it is on a no motor lake with good fishing but there is a great ski lake (Miskwabi) close by.
