About The Owner

My husband and I have owned this house since our boys were in High School here in Seaside. We are now retired and travel extensively and I couldn't bear to see my home empty without others enjoying the beach house, 1940's style. We have added modern admenities such as large TVs in both the family room and living room, Wireless internet, and Hot Tub. We have remodeled the 1940 charm out of our house which was remodeled last in 1938 by a prominate Dentist in Seaside. The remodel was well done in the period and has withstood the time well. The house still has the pink Bakelite tile in the upstairs bathroom Mrs Miller put in when they remodeled in 1938. Enjoy our quirky beach house on the river.

The Owner purchased this house in 1993

I loved this old house. Giant picture windows, lots of lounging space both indoors and out with a fantastic outdoor fire pit, large kitchen with everything we needed plus more, finished off with antique light fixtures and quirky art work. The only negative was only one full bath. Slept 9 easily. While not on the beach, it's an easy walk (maybe 1 mile), and watching the wildlife and the tide flow in and out on the estuary was truly just as enjoyable.

Owner's Response: Thank you, we love our quirky art and yes, 1 full bath/1 half bath can be fun in the morning.

Great Auntie, Nephew and wife with two toddlers loved this warm home. The peaceful property is situated near the confluence of the Necanicum River and Pacific Ocean just N of the Seaside Promenade. Great Blue Herons grace the river and an occasional kite skier can be seen near the ocean. Great sunsets, fires and s'mores, hot tubbing and plethora of books make this a great place to spend time. Razor clams abound at the seaside and we got our limits every day! Can't wait to get back and make time for a canoe ride! Great hosts too. Thanks!

Owner's Response: Thanks Karen, I'm happy you had such a great time and great clamming at the beach I told you about. Hope to see you again this fall. Teresa

Great location and home

Two families with children and we had plenty of room and amenities. Loved the canoe and adventures during low tide. Hot tub was fabulous! Only one shower and it is a little wonky but it works and is not a big deal.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed the house. Yes, we have just one shower/bath combo. The wonky shower Jennifer was talking about is the shower head, when we brought the house the shower head was 5ft high, not high enough for our 6'5" sons so we added a moveble extension shower head which works perfect for anyone 3' to 6'5". It does look odd but like Jennifer said, it works.

What a lovely home with a beautiful view. We spent four nights. It is an easy walk to the beach. The house is wonderful well stocked with lots of games, books and magazines. We really enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Teresa thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We would definitely stay here again.

Don't waist your time with this house!

  • 2 of 5

House is old, smelly, & grounds are not well maintained. Huge disappointment for our family. Weirdly enough the owner came to the house two of the 7 days we stayed. I have rented several homes before but never have I experienced the owner hanging out in the yard, snooping around....very weird, made us very uncomfortable.

Owner's Response: I always check-in and or contact my vacation rental guests to answer any questions about the house and area as soon as possible after they arrive. Had they mentioned either concern when we talked I would have taken care of it. I had just returned from a 6 week trip to find my landscapers (now former) had not taken care of the yard as contracted. I was not happy, 6 ft blackberry vines coming out of my Rhododendrons was not my idea of weekly gardening. I did work in the garden for a few hours for 2 days to get the worst taken care of. We work very hard to keep the house clean and smelling fresh, this house was built before 1940 and has real plaster walls and they can give off a slight odor if very warm or closed in, turning the furnace fan on and opening a window for a few minutes freshness the house. Cooking odors and disregard of our no smoking rule can also create issues. We work hard to correct these issues when we clean. Had they talked to me about both concerns I would have taken care of them.
