Look out on acres of lawn, gardens, meadow, forested hillside, and beautiful fall foliage or winterscape. Relax on the flagstone patio and covered porch with porch swing. Walk to town common. Skiing 20 minutes away at Stratton, Mt. Snow, Bromley. Cross country ski center and snow tubing 10 miles away. Antiquing, weekly auctions, glass-blowing and other attractions in Townshend and neighboring towns. Fishing, boating, summer swimming and tubing 5 minutes away at Townshend Lake and West River. Great Location for Skiers

We stayed here last winter for a ski vacation and loved it. There was plenty of room for sleeping, playing, relaxing and spreading out our ski gear to dry each night by the fire. It has all the amenities of home with a full kitchen, dishwasher and washer and dryer. The bed in the master bedroom is a Queen sized Beautyrest and sooo comfortable.

It's a quick 2 minute walk into town for pizza and wings and there's a great diner just a short drive down the road. There is a nice sized grocery store in town as well. It was only 25 minutes to Stratton with other ski areas nearby. We skied all day and then came home and made snowmen and snowforts by porchlight and the kids fell into bed after dinner.

We've also been in the fall and the kids loved the little creek in the back yard and all of the woods to explore. We found a great hike up the mountain to see the lama farm and work off dinner. A very pretty area to explore.

We've booked several weeks this year and can't wait to get back.

Vermont Country House

Beautiful vintage farmhouse on a country road made for a perfect multi-generational family getaway. Good size house was very clean with lots of flexibility for sleeping arangements. Walking distance to the Townshend green and short drive to Stratton ski mountain. Loved being able to ski all day and be back "home" eating a family meal by 7:00pm. Can't wait to come back next month.

Weekend getaway

The property was well maintained. It felt as we were spending the weekend at a friend's house. Enjoyed a couple of nights playing games (games provided) by the fire and drinking hot cocoa after a long day snowboarding (20 mins away). My friends told me what a beautiful place it was and they were all glad I asked them to come enjoy the vacation with me. Easy to get to. No cellphone signal, but we didn't mind.

A wonderful winter getaway

We have spent 10 days in this house in February 2010. It has everything for a good vacation rental: reliable broadband internet, bright cozy bedrooms, great kitchen with quality cookware, lots of games for kids. But the most important thing is location. It is close enough to Stratton, Bromley, Okemo, Mount Snow and a wonderful cross country place Grafton Ponds. It is also close to great restaurants in Jamaica and Newfane. We loved it there.

Great getaway for any group of people

My stay at this house was fantastic. It was well-maintained and stocked with everything one would need for a comfortable stay. It sleeps many comfortably and has a great set-up, including the fireplace and the outdoor gas grill. It is close to some ski areas and has many nice shops nearby. For a very reasonable price, this place was everything I expected it to be and more. I would highly recommend staying here to any group.
