Great Berkshires Experience

5 of 5
Submitted: February 5, 2008 Stayed: January 2008
We stayed for a four-day weekend and really enjoyed the visit, and the house added to that. We arrived to find it immaculate. Good start!

The layout is very good with two-car parking that is convenient to the back door for carrying in luggage. You enter a really modern kitchen featuring a nice breakfast bar and an adjacent dining room with a great, big dining room table.

There is a sort of foyer in between there and the living room, and on front of the house a play room/3rd bedroom with fold-down futon. The downstarirs is roomy and comfortable.

The bedrooms are in the eves of the house, so on the edges they are a little short, but it didn't bother the kids at all, who had a great time playing and shared the bedroom with two twins. The master features a king bed, and while closets are out in the hallway, both bedrooms have dressers that offer more than enough storage for a temporary stay.

My wife loved the washer/dryer, and was ecstatic to return home with nothing but clean clothes. The basement was clean and neat and well lit, making the washer/dryer very accessible.

The two full bathrooms were modern and comfortable.

All in all, a very pleasing experience. As for location, I don;t think it can be beat. The house is a two-block walk from Williams College campus and downtown. We strolled - even in the cold - to a local bookstore, some restaurants, and even used the college track for a workout in the mornings.

The location is berkshire central, tucked up in the very Northwestern corner of Massachusetts, minutes from the VT and NY borders, close to some skiing, at the end of the Mohawk Trail (RT-2), and about 30 minutes from Lee's outlet shopping and Lenox's Tanglewood and other cultural sites. But, Willamstown is the place to stay. I don't think there si anywhere else in the area that allows for the same level of local, walking shopping, dining and other activities (i.e., we went to men's and women's basketball and hockey games at Williams College that weekend - all free).

Can't recommend the rental highly enough. This place is obviously the work of a very caring and skilled owner who has put in a lot of work and should take a lot of pride.

Museum Weekend

This home was the perfect jump off point for exploring the wonderful art museums in the area. It is only about a 10 minute drive to Mass MoCA (North Adams) and walking distance to the Clark Museum (Williamstown). Comfortable beds and the home was spotless. We loved the large, well-stocked kitchen and huge dining table.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was impeccably clean and very well appointed. For our family of four it was very comfortable and the pictures and descriptions are spot on. The fact that downtown Williamstown and Williams' campus are within walking distance is a plus. And it's close to great areas and activities including: Jiminy Peak for skiing and boarding, nearby Sheep Hill for walks, sledding and kids activities, field farm for walks and snowshoeing, cricket creek farm for produce and meats, the mass moca, the clarke, etc.... We would recommend the house and area highly. The only slight drawback is that it is on route 2, though traffic is hardly heavy and therefore noise wasn't an issue

A perfect vacation home

The house was perfect. It is difficult to add anything new to what other reviewers have said - it is all true. Amy is just great and makes you feel truly welcome. Matt is clearly an expert at decoration and remodelling. This house is just beautiful.
