This colorful Renovated Old Spanish Beach Front Home is in the little town of Patillas called 'The Emerald of the South' Wrap around porches for shade and cool breezes. This home offers leather furniture, cable, & DVD players, in living room & master bdrm, with Internet, Ceiling fans throughout, new Central air conditioning. 4 bdrms and 2 baths. 2 bdrms have queen beds 1 bdrm has bunkbeds, 1 bdrm with twins and futon. A wall of large picture windows in living room looking out to sea and custom bamboo glass shutters with stained glass arched windows throughout. House is gated private estate. It is one of a handful of home rentals on the island that is truly right on a coconut lined quiet beach. Swing on the hammocks or set your chairs in the sand or warm clear blue waters edge & have a picnic on the grass under the coconut palms. A dream vacation home for all ages.

With beautiful mountain drive amazing views. A day excursion min from house. Bo. Guardarraya Patillas known as (The Emerald of the South) is Known for its beautiful beaches, snorkeling, and The popular surf break 'inches'. There are several restaurants just a walk down the beach. World class golf resorts, Sport Fishing, Camuy Caves, Scuba, Horse back riding, and Hiking the El Yunque Rain Forest are all a short drive.

Shopping and Fresh Catch of the Day: Shopping, Groceries , restaurants, theaters are under 10 min. away. You can also go down to the public beach just 5 minutes from the house at about 12:30 pm when the fisherman come in, you can buy fish at incredible prices. they will cut and clean it. You can then go to Coco's restaurant across the street and they will cook it for you. Or of course you can take it home for that fresh catch of the day BBQ. There is truly no other town like this on the island.

A wonderful home away from home!!

This house exceeded all our expectations. We are a group of two couples and a friend who is disabled. He found it very easy to navigate the lovely terrazzo floors throughout, even to the car in the covered attached parking, and out to the verandah. We made very good use of the kitchen, cooking almost every meal there, and enjoyed shopping in the local grocery in Patillas. Tomorrow we are going home to six inches of snow, and it will be hard to say good-by to this lovely paradise! There is comfortable seating everywhere, and always a magnificent view of the sea. Our two weeks just flew by!!

GREAT VACATION HOME WITH AN AMAZIANG VIEW

I stayed at Casa Caribe during the month Aug., 2009. It was truly an amzaing vacation and Casa Caribe was a wonderful place to stay. The house is beautifully decorated, very clean and spacious. It has gorgeous stained glass windows with beach/oceanic scenes. The view from the dining room iooking out at the palm trees and ocean is breath taking and very peaceful. I enjoyed sitting there during the early morning and evening hours drinking my tea and enjoying the tranquility. You'll have fun at the beach, which is actually just a few feet away while having all the comforts of home nearby. The house is conveniently located on route 3, which provides easy travel access to other parts of the island. I would definitely stay at Casa Caribe again and would recommend it to others.

Great Vacation

This review will detail the good and the not so good:
First, the good:
I was soooo worried about what to expect, with internet fraud and all....but when we arrived, what a wonderful surprise it was.
The pictures on the website were exactly as the house looks.

We had a family reunion (2 couples, 1 adult, and 2 kids) and it was wonderful. The house was clean, spacious, modern, and comfortable. The beach was steps away from the beach. The beach was clean and clear. Just be sure to bring water socks as it is a bit rocky by the edge- consistent with the southeast beaches of PR. The house is fully stocked with all the necessities. There was a tv, music, dvd player, bbq grill, outdoor furniture to relax on- all in working condition. We had a wonderful time and truly recommend this home to anyone. The best part is walking out and being on the beach. As I cooked every day, I watched the ocean, which was therapeutic....and the night time views are unbelievable- magical!
I know you will create your own magical memories there as I did with my family.

The not so good:
Administratively, the process to rent the beach house was frustrating; lots of phone tag, and many missed emails. The noise from the main road when sleeping at night was bothersome to some guests. My final "not so good" comment is that I paid with PayPal and when I received my deposit refund, a fee was taken out, which was bothersome because I purposely paid using my bank account and NOT a credit card to AVOID this fee, but when the deposit was returned a fee was charged. I called the owner, but it was never resolved.
Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. We are happy to hear you had a great time. Pay Pal charges a flat $9.00 fee for some cash accounts, but not all. As promised, I am looking into why this is. I inquired as to what is going on with the excessive traffic noise lately and was informed by my Property Mgr of a traffic detour due to construction being finished on a tunnel two towns over. The tunnel is finished and all should be getting back to normal. We have a sandy beach, but there is a large coral reef out there and small stones, shells and pieces of coral can be washed to the waters edge, water socks are in a basket on the porch for all guests who wish to use them.

Very relaxing Vacation

We enjoyed the beach and the beautiful palm trees. We were a party of 9 (4 adults & 5 kids). The house slept us comfortably, but the noise of the traffic was really loud. The house sits about 2 feet off of the road and it is heavily traveled. We cooked almost all of our meals, but the stove really did not work very well, so we had to charcoal grill most of our meals, it was like camping out. When we arrived we were very surprised at how ROCKY the beach was, not very good for small children. We sat in the backyard instead, but was constantly bitten by fire ants! There is a little sandy swimming cove with in walking distance to the house which the kids enjoyed very much. The kids kept busy by playing with their new pets, Hermit Crabs! The people were very friendly, and the weather was great.
Owner's Response: Our house is set back more than 20 yards from a small 2 lane road. Our house has a large 6 ft high very thick concrete wall and Iron gate with a front yard with (2) 30 ft Plumeria trees with Orchid and tropical plant garden between the road and the house. It's a very small beach town and traffic is usually not heavy or loud most of the time. Our beach can at times due to weather and tide changes bring in some small stones. We never have large rocks on our beach. Most of the time the beach is very sandy and we keep a sand patch on our property with beach chairs as well. We have a stove and oven in our home Most homes do not have ovens in the tropics. It is run with propane and is in top condition. But for some, not as good as a regular gas stove. There are no fire ants in our yard or on the entire island that I am aware of. There are some very tiny brown ants that will bite if provoked and come out if food is left on the ground. The bite will sting for a second but they are completely harmless and leave no marks. It's the tropics and after three years of renting and many children visits, this has been my first complaint about this. But thank you for letting me know this was a problem as I will be sure to have my gardener check the yard for excessive ant activity from now on. Thanks again for your comments as it is our intention to strive to make all our guest experiences be the best there is to offer in a home rental and enjoy our little piece of paradise.

Beautiful House in Paradise!

We looked forward to a vacation in paradise and it was even better than we could have imagined! The location of Casa Caribe del Mar is great because it is in an area of Puerto Rico that is off the tourists' beaten path. Staying there you get an authentic feel for the relaxed, friendly atmosphere of the island. We traveled all over the island, but it was so nice to return each evening to a cozy home. The house is colorful and has lots of character--we would not have had the same Puerto Rican experience staying in a hotel. We were there during one of the warmest times of year, but the air conditioning in the house kept it perfectly comfortable. The beach is steps away from the back door and we usually had it all to ourselves...just us, the waves, and the coconuts! The house is well-maintained with even more amenities than we expected (books, DVDs, water shoes). There were just us two staying there, and we spent our time in Puerto Rico taking some adventurous trips and just relaxing, but the house would also be perfect for families or groups of friends traveling. Linda is a great resource for information about the island and it was nice to have someone to go to with questions about roads to take, where to eat, etc. For visitors to Puerto Rico, I recommend seeking out the diversity of the island. The island is quite varied in geography and scenery from white sand beaches to densely forested mountain ranges, from cosmopolitan cities to quaint towns with people riding horses down the street. Visiting the nearby island of Vieques was an especially fun experience. We saw all four coasts and the central part of the island, but I think Casa Caribe del Mar is truly the ideal place to stay in Puerto Rico!
