At Casa Kalani, we understand the meaning of vacation. Our lives are stressful enough and planning a vacation can be fun, but tedious. We offer our guests complete trip-planning, from your arrival in San Jose to departure and everything in between- all you need to do is show up! Casa Kalani truly is a retreat, perfect for a romantic getaway, a family reunion, or a trip with friends.
Nestled in the heart of Manuel Antonio, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Casa Kalani is a very comfortable vacation home rental. Kalani is Hawaiian for 'from the heavens' and while sitting on the master balcony, enjoying the spectacular views, one feels that much closer to heaven. Spend the day lounging by the pool, or sitting on the patio and watching the wildlife go by, or it is just a short trip down to the beaches and Manuel Antonio National Park., Close to Casa Kalani are restaurants, bars, supermarket, butcher, internet cafe, pharmacy, doctor´s office and public transportation. Casa Kalani is located at the very end of a cul de sac in a local working neighborhood. It is roughly halfway between the town of Quepos and the beaches and National Park Manuel Antonio.
The villa’s main floor is open concept, and windows abound to allow tons of natural sunlight to flood in and unobstructed views of the lush rainforest surround. The decor is crisp and clean and the Casa is equipped with quality linens and towels.
For the wildlife enthusiasts, there are many varieties of monkeys. Birders be sure to bring a pair of binoculars as mot-mot, tanagers, flycatchers, and sometimes even toucans can be seen!

“ I would be glad to recommend your place to anyone ! I forgot to tell you how many Blue Morpho butterflies we saw-several every day and one morning I lost count sitting on the balcony drinking coffee! It was a real treat to see so many...Thank you so much for the beautiful time we spent at Casa Kalani. The house is fabulous and the decor is simply gorgeous. I wish you much success with your beautiful home and hope to return next year for another delightful vacation at Casa Kalani. It is truly a little paradise on earth.”

“Thank you again for letting us stay at Casa Kalani for another night. It worked out even better for us. We loved your house and really wish we could´ve stayed there for longer. It was beautiful and the location was amazing. Thank you again for starting off our trip in such a fantastic manner and please let me know if there is anywhere online that I might leave a comment about the great time we had while we were staying at Casa Kalani.” Jonathan Webb, San Diego, California, USA March 2009
'We would like to thank you for sharing your beautiful home. We had a wonderful time revisiting Manuel Antonio and your house was in a perfect location for us. We saw several large families of howler monkeys outside your gate on two nights, and a family of capuchin monkeys one morning. The girls were entranced. Unique Tours, Kanuto's white water rafting trip, that you arranged was spectacular. We really appreciated their focus on safety. He is a great guy who gave us lots of wonderful tips on other things to see and do and even where to buy fresh shrimp and good Chilean Cabernet to enjoy by your pool. Best wishes and thank you for the opportunity.'

'I would like you to know how thoroughly I enjoyed your house. The setting is beautiful. The house is beautiful. The interior is decorated beautifully. I loved having the private pool with the waterfall. I also enjoyed lying in bed watching the Monkeys play in the trees just outside my window as well as numerous species of birds. I was taken care of from arrival to departure.
Thank you very much'

My husband, Shawn and I purchased Casa Kalani in December 2009. We have since been to our home many trips with our two small children, family and friends. It is always an adventure and we love to keep going back to enjoy the monkeys that stop by our home most
mornings. We just returned from a trip where we had Squirrel monkeys with their babies visiting, white faced monkeys and Toucans. It is so much fun to spend time with our family enjoying relaxing by the pool, cooking out, going out to eat at our favorite place Aqua Azual. If you need anything from us please don't hesitate to ask. Sheila

We are located in a local working neighborhood which is convenient to shopping, grocery store and restaurants. We recommend a small SUV if driving in Costa Rica. The roads in this region can be gravel and/or steep terrian. Our driveway does require a 4 wheel drive.
This is the second time my family has stayed at Casa Kalani. I have found the owners to be very easy to communicate with, and the on-site staff is excellent. The house itself is very nice, and very, very clean. It is in a great location, so that each morning we could walk down to the beach and enjoy the ocean.
The pool is refreshing. We cooked most of our meals at home, and the kitchen is very well stocked. It was so much fun to sit outside and watch the monkeys come across. At one point they were located in the trees above our eating area, watching us carefully.
I would highly recommend this rental.
I will quickly say that we loved our stay at Casa Kalani! (April 2011). Location: ideal once we oriented ourselves: Quick walk to stores, restaurants and a short drive to the beach, Manuel Antonio Nat'l Park, Quepos...
Photos were spot-on: the house is lovely: clean, new appliances, great pool...
The owners, house manager, and concierge were outstanding! I feel like we received excellent treatment for our $$. Miquela and Nicole were available in advance for email questions and trip planning, and available once we arrived. Nicole planned amazing tours for us, and we were so grateful!
I would recommend this property to anyone!
Addressing some of the other comments posted online, and some comments I would have in addition to the above:
The driveway: The driveway is steep but not at all impossible. It's the jungle, not a frozen tundra. I have photos if anyone wants to see.
The pool: It is well maintained and has a lovely shower next to it. We never figured out the waterfall. We didn't try very hard either though. :-)
Outdoor patio: Wow, such a great place to watch the animals: capuchin monkeys, pygmy owl (up by the master bedroom), frogs, lizards, iguanas, crazy amounts of birds, parrots, insects, etc... We ate all of our meals here.
We did expect a working grill, and the grill there was not working.
Chickens: This house is in a neighborhood, not a sterile resort community. Many of the neighbors are Ticos who have chickens and doggies. Embrace it and enjoy it. It's not like the jungle is quiet anyway. It is an orchestra of critters, and it is amazing!
Bugs, ants, etc...: Again, you are in the jungle. YOU are the visitor. Embrace and enjoy how different the bugs are from home. Most of them are not going to harm you.
Kitchen: all new appliances; worked great. We wished the knives were sharper. :-)
Spices: again, this is the jungle so one cannot leave spices sitting in a cabinet or they absorb moisture from the air. We did miss having spices to cook with though. Our suggestion: perhaps the house manager can have a bin ready for when new guests arrive containing spices to borrow, binoculars (even if an extra deposit is required), extra sunscreen, aloe, beach towels to use...
Internet access: not provided. Frustrating. there is a router. There is a modem. Turning on the modem shows there *is* wireless in the house. Don't know why we were not allowed to use it. Would have paid an additional amount for this too.
Laundry: bug plus!
My family stayed here, and we all absolutely loved it! Your home is so beautiful, and we were very comfortable. We saw monkeys every day, as well as other wildlife like toucans and iguanas. My parents especially enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the mornings, drinking coffee, and just enjoying "paradise." Thanks so much for accommodating our schedule...Mikayla was great too! If we make it back to Manuel Antonio again, we would love to stay here again!
We visited Manuel Antonio during Green Season so we made the most of every day by waking early and sitting out on the master bedroom balcony with our coffee and letting the wildlife come to us. We had morning visits from titi and white face Capuchin monkeys and it was terrific for bird watching also, including the Mot Mot. The highlight for me was seeing a pair of toucans! And they even came back another day! Casa Kalani is a beautiful home with quality tropical themed furnishings, so we really felt like we spent our vacation in luxury. We really appreciated the pool when we returned from our touring for the day. The caretaker met us when we arrived and gave us a good orientation of the property and the area, including restaurants and available tours. The property was very well maintained during our stay with the maid service and pool caretaker. We also appreciated having our security deposit returned in a very timely manner.
My family stayed for a week at the end of June. The house is beautiful! The pool was great and well maintained. The mattresses were comfortable. It was just as described. Several types of monkeys as well as other critters were busy entertaining us each morning and evening. The house manager, Miquela did an outstanding job as well as the housekeeper who left towel sculptures in the bathroom! We all had a great time and would recommend this property to anyone that wants to experience why Manuel Antonio is such a special place!
Our group of 4 stayed at Casa Kalani end of May-Jun 3. We were pleasantly surprised at the awesome gated home. We loved the tropical flavor of the decor, the very gracious and helpful house manager, the waterfall at the pool, monkeys & roosters greeting each new sunrise, and centralized location. The home is clean, comfortable and private. The view from the 3rd floor is amazing. The manager set up our zip line, white water rafting & horseback tours making it fuss-free for us. We had a turn of bad weather, first an earthquake (6.1), then a cyclone which caused the whole town of Quepos & MA to have no water, electric, or phone for 3 days. The roads were closed also. It is amazing to see the hard working locals leaving their homes, which had much damage, to come together to clear the roads and make life comfortable for the tourists. The house manager came to check on us, bringing extra candles and make sure we were okay & not in any stress. We continued our vacation, albeit sans electric/ac/phones, but it made our stay a real adventure. Our last day we went horseback riding to the great waterfalls...who needs electric in the jungles anyway? This was the most memorable vacation. We have photos of our beautiful home, bragging rights of both an earthquake & cyclone, and experience of getting to know the hardworking, giving folks of Costa Rica,
