This Playa Encanto villa is found 20 mins from downtown Puerto Penasco, a fishing village, with night clubs, restaurants, shopping and all amenities, including world class golf courses and many water activities. The home is 3.5 hours from Phoenix and Tuscon, and 4.5 hours from San Diego on the new coastal highway. A local airport (25 mins) provides flights from Phoenix. Local oyster farms (15 mins) offer shellfish and seafood fresh from the sea. A natural history museum with free public tours and an aquarium showing native species of the inter-tidal zone and the northern gulf coast are at Las Conchas beach (15 mins). The Gran Pinacate Biosphere Reserve (40 mins) is one of the most unique volcanic zones in the world, with more than 100 craters. Year round festivals occur on the downtown plaza, with the 15-16 Sept (National Independence Day) and Easter celebrations particularly lively.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Deposit $225 - returnable if no damage sustained. Key deposit $10.
  • Credit cards can be taken over the phone at the time of the reservation and 50% of the fees will be charged. You will receive a transaction receipt by e-mail, you need to print that out and sign where it says card holder all the way to the bottom of the page, once you do that, we need you to fax it. As soon as we receive that, we will send you your confirmation letter by e-mail. You may also deposit half of the rental fee at the Wells Fargo Bank to the account # 244-917-4313 and then fax a copy of the receipt to us with your name or reservation #. The name of the account is Rocky Rentals. You have 5 working days to make the deposit after you make the reservation. The other half of the payment will be due at arrival day.
  • Holidays include New Years eve and day, Spring break, Memorial day, Independence day, Labor day, Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as associated weekends. Call for exact dates.
    Cancellation policy: If you cancel your reservation anytime 20 days before your arrival you will lose $100.00 of your payment. However, if you cancel with less than 20 days prior to your arrival, you will lose the whole payment.
    Check-in is at 3:00 p.m. or later and check-out is at 11:00 a.m. Do not leave the key at the unit or at the guard gate. Late check out has to be arranged with the reservation agent. There is a fee for late check out.

  • The villa has four bedrooms. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a queen bed overlooking the ocean, a single futon which converts to a child´s bed, and a sitting area with a double futon and love seat. It accesses the seaside terrace and has its own master bathroom. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has two queen beds, a twin bed, and its own bathroom. It gives onto a terrace that overlooks the desert mountains. Downstairs, the 3rd bedroom has a 4 poster queen bed and shares a bathroom with the 4th bedroom that has two twin beds. Each room has ample closets and drawers. In addition to the bedrooms, the two living areas are close to bathrooms and can be used for sleeping. The upstairs family room, next to the master bedroom, has a twin bed and a sofa that converts into a double bed. It overlooks the ocean and accesses the upstairs terrace. The downstairs living room has one futon and a sofa bed both of which convert into double beds. It overlooks the beach and accesses the downstairs patio

Notes: The house has two dining areas. Inside a wooden table provides seating for 8 people, with an additional 3 at the adjacent breakfast bar. Two 6 ft. portable folding tables are provided and stored in the garage area. Each is able to seat 8, and can be used indoors or outdoors. Four folding chaises longs and 9 resin chairs are available. In addition to the dining chairs, the four bedrooms each have a chair. The refrigerator is large and has a separate top freezer section. Drinking water is provided in 5 gallon bottles. The first bottle is provided, subsequent bottles need to be purchased from the local supermarket. Faucet water is not suitable for drinking. Linen is provided, but not towels or tea towels. The telephone can be used only for local numbers. Wireless Internet access is available for a fee. The air conditioning is powered by the generator located in a utility room.

Property management: The house is managed by a local rental agency that will accept your reservation and payments, provide you with keys and your first 5 gallons of drinking water. They will help you with any maintenance issues, local information, and will provide additional cleaning services if desired. Linen is provided. Towels and tea towels are not provided, please bring your own.

Staying in a green home: This home (like all in Playa Encanto) is off the grid. Power comes from the sun and wind, harvested by solar panels and wind turbines, while water comes from a state of the art desalination plant. Power is stored by a large bank of batteries which keeps everything in the house running. There is also a generator, soundproofed in a separate room, which comes on automatically if the central AC is turned on, or the batteries do run low. Even though the house is off the grid, you'll find it very similar to your own home, except that high efficiency appliances and light bulbs are used throughout. It is a pleasant surprise to find how normal living off the grid can feel, and most renters are able to live within the carbon footprint of the house without having the generator on, except when the AC is used.

Restrictions: The Playa Encanto neighborhood association ordinances forbid the use of fireworks, camping and bonfires directly on the sand, the provided fire bowl should be used instead.

FUN TIMES!

We stayed here with another family and our kids and they invited some friends, so we had house full, all 16 sleeping areas used and we still had so much room, we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. I LOVED being right on the beach, all nice sand, great for volleyball! Solar energy meant really watching the electricity use (no hairdryers!) and the water tank needed to be refilled, small for house that size but you can work around that. Great getaway, quiet, even on Spring Break! It was clean and represented accurately by the pics on the website.
