Take 1 or 2 apartments in this Private Home that is Closest To the St. George FREE FERRY! Have a Wonderful Waterfront Unobstructed View of the NYC skyline, see Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens along with the GWB and most spectacular is the entire Hudson Harbor. It is just 10 minute walk to the commuter ferry. This comfortable home has a great vantage point as it is a smooth 20 minutes FREE ride to Manhattan via the Staten Island Ferry while the house is in a SAFE and quiet location. The Esplanade in front of the Victorian home follows the waterfront and has a running trail, benches and a boardwalk above the tides. Or go see the Staten Island Yankees (a minor league) play at the beautiful new stadium, only a block away from the house.

Everything is close in Historic St. George, museums, restaurants and small grocery stores that have good selections of staples, beer and organic foods. If the desire is to explore the neighborhood and view all the historic homes and public buildings or ride over to New York City see the sights, all is quite easy even with small children. On the other side near the NYC dock is the ticket booth to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island or the tour busses. If you want to walk around after landing you will be in the old Historic district of Manhattan and just a few short blocks from the Financial District of Wall Street.

The house has been renovated with a new and fully equipped kitchen. For summer there is a new 18,000 BTU air conditioner and a lovely private Garden Patio with table and chairs. For winter there is a working wood burning fireplace and steam heat. Enjoy a master bedroom with lovely romantic decor and wood floors, high ceilings with ceiling fans throughout and a full bathroom with a bathtub. There is a shared foyer with the owner but the unit has it's own locking front door and is totally private. No car is necessary and there is public transportation from all three airports in New York and from Newark in NJ. If a parking space is needed the street has no restrictions and is right in front of the home entrance. Wifi is included along with cable TV on a 32' flat LED screen.

My husband Stanley and I on the Esplanade down in front of the house. The area is scenic with all of New York Harbor within view of the house. Both commercial and pleasure boats are constantly traveling back and forth to loading docks or on their way out to sea.

The house is quaint and inviting with great views, one can never be bored. A great plus is the close proximity of the Staten Island Ferry that runs 24/7 - 365, only a 10 minute walk, a 20 minute ride and then you are in Manhattan. Coming home it is cool in summer as the doors are wide open and you can watch the sun setting with the Statue of Liberty back lit. In winter the passenger lounges are heated and you can read, relax or compare notes on your days adventures.

The house is historically significant as the first owner was the son of the preserved Stevenson's General Store in Historic Richmond Town. In 1870's coming to the North Shore was a relief with the breezes blowing off the Hudson River and so the area became a resort with homes for the very wealthy.

This two family home provided a place for me to live and raise my two children. Now I rent the lower part of the house, which is a complete apartment in itself with sliding patio doors out onto a private patio and garden.

It is so convenient to all public transportation. The neighborhood is safe and it is a relatively quiet one for New York City. The house is private, clean and comfortable with antiques in every room but the kitchen is updated and there are modern conveniences such as air conditioners and a dish washer so you don't need to live in the last century on your vacation.

Back in the New York Groove!!

My husband and I took our 3 children (ages 17, 14 & 11) to New York from Perth, Australia in early October. This was a return trip for us and a new experience for them.
Finding accommodation for five people at a reasonable rate is not an easy assignment! Robin's accommodation is exactly as described and portrayed in her photos.
The easy ferry access to Manhattan, the ability to travel on the subway to all points, the ability to find some space and to cook our own meals - all these wonderful points are eclipsed by the owner herself.
Robin is a wonderful landlord - she is there when needed to provide good local information but does not intrude. She was especially helpful to us in obtaining tickets to a Giants game for my husband and son - which has given them both some great memories.
I have no hesitation in recommending a stay with Robin at this, or any of her other properties.

I am SO glad I chose to rent this property!!!

I am so glad I chose this rental property! The home was lovely and most importantly: CLEAN. There was plenty of sleeping space for the 6 of us and the kitchen was very convenient. Robin has the apartment stocked with high-end linens. We also appreciated the free on-street parking.

I grew up on Staten Island and so I understood how conveniently situated this property was. It was easy as pie to walk to and from the ferry terminal. Even at night, we 2 single moms never felt unsafe to be walking with our kids. There is a police station between the house and the terminal, but even without it the neighborhood would be safe.

Although we spent 4 wonderful days visiting Manhattan, the main purpose of our trip was to visit the world HQ of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brooklyn, as well as the other properties in Wallkill and Patterson. We left for Wallkill at 7:30 on a Tuesday morning and it took about 2 hours but that was because it was my 1st time ever driving in snow and I was being extra cautious. Getting back to the house from Patterson that evening was an easy drive as well. A few days later we took the train to Brooklyn and it was a very simple process. If you are traveling to NY for this purpose, Robin's house is an excellent choice.

Three years ago I rented a different house through this site and it was a disaster that almost ruined my vacation. I was hesitant to give it another go but I am so glad I did. Even though Robin was out of town for almost our entire stay, she kept in touch via email to offer info about the house and to check on us when a storm rolled in. Our exciting and upbuilding vacation was made all the more enjoyable for having stayed at Robin's Nest. I will absolutely stay there again the next time I visit NYC!

Our journey to Staten Island began August 21st through the 28th. We came to bring our daughter Brooke to Wagner College. We are from Hawaii. When I initially found Robin and Stan's VRBO I knew this was the place for us, a true home away from home! Robin and i had a connection right off the bat.
The home is in close proximity to the college and we were able to cook most of our meals in the amply equipped kitchen. The A/C was wonderful to have, the home was oh so cozy, safe and we slept so well which never happens when we travel! Robin was hospitable and I think went out of her way to make us all comfortable. Being so close to the Ferry was amazing, and the laundry service down the street fantastic dropped off in the morning and picked it up in the evening (our choice) as Robin for the details! I feel we have made life long friends and we definitely will be back whenever we come to Staten island which we anticipate will be often! If there was one downside I would say it was the parking BUT this is just the way it is anywhere these days. There was only one time actually we stressed over the parking but we decided to park in the Ferry lot and it was only 7 dollars a day! SCORE! Thank you Robin and Stan it was your comfortable home that helped us leave NY knowing our daughter would be ok, Robin even gave Brooke her personal number in case she needed anything! Now thats a testimony you won't find just anywhere!!!!

New York, New York, so good we visited twice.....

We first visited New York in 2009, and stayed in a Times Square, Manhatten Hotel for three nights - it was rather hectic. For the re-visit we wanted a more relaxing six night stay, and this Staten Island rental appeared to be perfect. We were not disappointed. The rooms actually seemed larger than they appeared in the pictures, and the location was ideal, being only a 10 minute walk to the Staten Island Ferry terminal while looking across at the buildings of Manhatten - fantastic. The area is quiet and safe, probably helped by having the local NYPD a couple of hundred yards along the road, opposite the Baseball ground - where we got to see our first Baseball game (season opener) followed by a firework display (home team win). We had our main meals in Manhatten restaurants that we had used previously, but we had no problems getting provisions at the local markets for our breakfasts and snacks.

Happy to Come Back!

We were so happy to return here for three weeks in April (11-30) – just in time to enjoy the flowers and morning birdsongs of springtime in New York. The weather was glorious and we were able to enjoy the charming patio in the back garden that opens off the kitchen. We enjoyed many lovely morning and late afternoon walks along the esplanade watching the ships come and go, and on the weekends, many sailboats. We discovered the wonderful new restaurant Blue on Richmond Terrace right near Snug Harbor Botanical Gardens. Indoor and outside restaurant seating is right on the water and the views day or night were always interesting. Hosts Robin and Stan made sure we had everything we needed to make our return stay as pleasant as ever!

There are many wonderful things to experience; Staten Island Yankees baseball park, historic buildings, restaurants, the Staten Island Museum, botanical and Chinese gardens, shops, restaurants and a minor league ball park are all within walking distance. We even have our own Staten Island Shopping Mall with something for everyone. Or just walk along the Esplanade and enjoy the Harbor.
