El Palomar (the dovecote) is a special and romantic little cottage that sits on three acres of land. You feel as if you were in the countryside but you are walking distance from Les Cabannes and a four minute drive from beautiful Cordes-sur Ciel. The house is compact and charming. Once a train way point, it has been beautifully restored with a charming country kitchen that opens out to a 'terrace' with stone walls with a table for dining 'al fresco' and a small table and chairs for just sitting and sipping drinks during the pleasant afternoons and evenings. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave and a clothes washer/dryer. It is completely equipped with dishes flatware and cooking utensils. It also has a small toilet for guests. From the kitchen, you go up to the main living area that has a sofa bed for two people, and comfortable chairs. Then up to the garret sleeping area, with a heavenly iron framed bed and a full bathroom. There is air conditioning in the bedroom.

Walking distance (3 minutes) from the house is the lovely village of Les Cabannes, with restaurants, tabac, boulangerie, art gallery, antique shop, etc. Only 5 km. away is the famous bastide town of Cordes-sur-Ciel with its supermarket, post office, bars etc. It is impossible to be untouched by its charm or to leave it without warm memories of strolling through its beautifully preserved streets and buildings and eating in its fine restaurants. Cordes is a medieval town finished in the early 14th Century with lovely narrow streets and an amazing history, whilst today it is famous for its arts community. Albi, 25 km. away is a majestic city with its Cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec museum with excellent restaurants and hypermarkets. This area is steeped in history and culture. Gaillac is renown for its wines. There are plenty of domains for wine tastings. There is also plenty of walking, horse riding, cycling, river swimming and other country side activities.
