We purchased this property when we decided to add a little 'Caribbean Soul' to our lives. We are all avid divers and the diving on the island is really good!
Terry Anderson, OWNER purchased this condo in 2006
We decided to be as close to the beach as possible, without actually being right on the beach for a lot of reasons. Pelican Cove offered us what we were looking for... a minute walk to the beach which we see from our back gallery without the 'issues' that being on the water bring them... like heavy corrosion from the salt air!e
The island is very diverse... it is the largest of the three Virgin Islands yet has the fewest people per square mile... we like the open spaces that abound. Warm weather and relaxing are the primary draw and we find the condo to be a perfect 'home base'.
My husband and I stayed with another couple at this condo last week (for the whole week) and loved every single minute of our vacation. The condo is beautiful, spacious and extremely well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The living room space is also very comfortable for 4 people to lounge in the evening after a great day exploring. The deck is also really nice and a perfect place to have breakfast while watching the ocean and enjoying the island breeze. It is an easy drive from the airport and you could probably get there by taxi but I would recommend renting a car just because it makes getting around the island a whole lot more fun. We rented and were able to see pretty much the entire island during our stay as the condo is in a nicely central location. The beach at the condo is quite interesting. We saw several species of crab, and some really cool fish while snorkeling. Terry is sweet, funny and fun to work with. He's exceptionally informative about all things related to the condo and the island in general and prompt with communication. He is also very nice about answering lots of questions. Even when we were too tired that first day to find the condo's "Owner's Manual" and called him, he was remarkably patient with us:). Thanks, Terry, for sharing your beautiful place with us and for providing such an excellent vacation experience.
Side Note: We had many wonderful meals while on St Croix but we all agreed the most delicious food in the best atmosphere was at Harvey's. If you go to St Croix do NOT miss this place!
We stayed at the Sea Escape for 10 days in July and had a wonderful time. The condo was an easy drive from the airport and easy to get into with Terry's instructions.
The condo was very nice and spacious and had everything we could want for our stay, especially traveling with two young children. The kitchen was fully stocked, we had beach towels, beach toys for the kids, laundry supplies, extra bathroom supplies, etc. We loved enjoying the ocean view, while having our morning coffee.
Most days we would head out to explore the island, but return to the pool for an afternoon swim before dinner. The pool is huge and the kids had a great time playing in it and under the waterfall. Most days it was very quiet with just a couple of other guests.
We really didn't use the beach area too much, except to take a walk. The waves were usually strong and coral comes up almost to the shore. Not ideal swimming for a family with young kids, but fortunately we found several other beaches that we loved (Chenay, Cramer's Park, and Sand Castle Beach).
We thought the location of Sea Escape was great, but you need a car. We felt that we were central enough to Christiansted, driving through the rain forest or going to the beaches near Frederiksted. We enjoyed many restaurants on the island, but had one of our best dinners at The Palms, just a short walk from the condo.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and would stay at the Sea Escape again. We felt safe, Terry was very helpful and easy to work with, and the condo met all of our needs, if not more. St. Croix is a beautiful island and we couldn't have been happier!
My family and I spent almost a week here last month and had a fabulous time! The condo offered everything we needed for the week, including small things we may have run out of such as condiments for the kitchen and suncreen. The location was located close to town and easy access to all attractions on the island. Although the island and the property were quite sleepy while we were there, we had a wonderful time and would recommend this condo for your stay in St. Croix. Terry was fabulous to work with and made everything easy and comfortable. Thanks again!
This condo serves as the perfect home base for a wonderful island getaway. We didn`t spend much time at the condo because there is so much to see & do on the island but the condo is equipped well enough to just stay there if you like. Once you venture out to different areas of the island, you`ll find the locals are great fun. I have not been to a more beautiful place. Road signs are far and few in between, but you can still find your way around ok - Just ask the locals for directions and you'll hear: "You can't miss it", "If you hit the water you've gone too far", "Just keep your shoulder to the bush" (driving is on the left hand side of the road). Must see places are: Cane Bay, Christensted Harbor, Cruzan Rum Factory, Rain Forest and Buck Island and also visit Hotel on the Kay by a short fairy ride. The near by bars/restaurants and beaches are wonderful. The Eats at Cane Bay has a wonderful/must try drink: Banana Bushwacker!!!! The shops at downtown Christensted are really cool. On Sunday's the cruise ship comes into Fredricksted and the local vendors set up tents to sale their items. There is too much to list it all. I can't wait to go back to St. Croix and see more!!! Thank you Terry for a wonderful vacation and a extra clean condo that was well equipped and felt like home away from home.
We are a couple 78 and 72 who have found paradise in this condo. This is a no bull review. On a scale of 1-10, this property is a 10 in every way, shape, manner, and form. Being on the first floor was a godsend for us as we have trouble with stairs. The kitchen was used many times for breakfast and was outfitted very well. We cooked and then brought everything out onto the lanai and watched the ocean as we ate.
We found that even though we are next to a beach, the beach at the Buccaneer was worth the 15 min drive. we were allowed to use the mermaid Beach every day for nothing and we spent countless hours in the water. Lay back and enjoy. The restaurant there served as our lunch quarters.
Christiansted was OK with a bunch of quaint shops and where my wife got her really nice ring and pendant and also some bathing suits. We also drove across the island to fredericksberg where you have to eat at Molly's.
Dinner was usually next door at the Palms. Food was superb and the service is on island time which you get used to immediately.
We have already booked a month next year and cannot wait to come back. The two bedrooms are comfortable with a great bed, and the two bathrooms well served.
If you are really looking at St Croix, look no further.
This property is exactly as pictured! The condo is equipped with everything needed for your stay. There were condiments left from previous visitors, and we left some items for future guests. We actually packed some frozen meats from home to make a few meals and breakfast. Then we had our cooler for beach travel. We found the Cost You Less store outside of Christiansted prior to leaving, which had a good selection and reasonable prices.
We enjoyed the sea breezes throughout the condo and listening to the waves crashing at nighttime. The patio is great place to start your day. Having The Palms nearby was great for the beach and restaurant/bar/entertainment. The location of the condo made easy access to explore both sides of the island by rental car.
St. Croix is a beautiful island with many great restaurants and places to explore. We really enjoyed The Blue Moon in Fredericksted, Duggins, The Blue Water Terrace, and Rowdy Joe's.
Enjoyed hiking to Isaac's Bay, snorkeling at Buck Island, the gorgeous beach at Sandy Point, the rainforest, Le Reine Farmer's Market, snorkeling at Hotel on the Caye, and participating in the Mardi Croix celebration at Cane Bay. The various blue colors of the water are just beautiful. Also, found a new hobby of collecting sea glass at Palms' Beach.
There are still many places to eat and explore that we hope to do in the future. We would definitely return to this condo, maybe trying out the pool next time! But we are beach people, so there were just too many beaches to see! The condo grounds are well kept, and felt like a safe environment. We left our patio door open at night to enjoy the sea breeze.
Thanks to Terry for providing a great place to stay! We believe he tried to call and check how we were doing, but we were on the go a lot with all the things to see and do. Hope to get back to St. Croix sometime in the near future.
The Tropical Island of St. Croix is the largest of the 3 U.S Virgin Islands. This beautiful island has Spectacular beaches and Glorious Rain Forests. The 'Wall' is one of the largest reef systems in the world for Scuba Divers and the Wrecks in Frederiksted are not to be missed. You could also take a guided sail over to Buck Island for Snorkeling, swimming or just to relax. St. Croix also boasts great dining. Have a 5 star meal in an air-conditioned restaurant or beach side.. either way casual is the dress of the day. Downtown Christiansted has plenty of duty free shopping and History to soak in as well. Be adventurous and drive around the island. Who knows what you'll come across??
