The place is old with character and a well maintained interior. Very short drive to Okemo and short walk to town. The owners were great to deal with. No hassles. Nice people. Price was good for amount of room. We had 5 adults with us. I would rent this house again.
What a perfect stay we had. The house has a perfect location - 5 minute walk to Okemo Shuttle - short walk into town (1st block behind Main St). This was very important if any of you are familiar with the level of traffic on weekends or during holiday time at the mountain.
The house was clean and cozy and well equipped. The kitchen was well equipped and roomy. We are a 'cooking family' and prefer a home cooked meal -- and were able to do so without any hindrance due to lack of tools or basic kitchen equipment.
The living room was very comfortable and the wood stove kept it cozy --- The parlor area was nice for those of us not wanting to watch or listen to TV to read a book, chat or knit
The mattresses on the beds felt new and firm and we all had a good night sleep. The WiFi was great for keeping in touch with the home office.
Similar to previous review - take note of the stairs and take time or wear shoes or slippers
Owners very friendly, accommadating and transaction could not have gone more smoothly.
Hope to return again
We just returned from spending 5 nights at this charming home in Ludlow Village. The house was very clean, comfortable and cozy for a small family ski trip. We were all pleasantly surprised with the spaciousness of this home. The pictures do not do it justice.
The kitchen and separate dinette area was large and easy for many of us to be working in it at the same time. Since we keep kosher, we ate all our meals in the house using all our own cookware and utensils. However, the kitchen cabinets did look well stocked with pleny of glassware, dishes, silver, pots, etc. for any one using them. The livingroom also was larger than the pictures revealed and it extended directly into the den which had seating as well. The pellet stove in the corner of the livingroom kept the room warm and cozy. Off the kitchen was the second full bathroom and large mudroom with washer and dryer. This area provided plenty of space to store all the ski bags and equipment so as not to clutter the house. There was also a back door here for access to cars so you didn't get the floors wet coming in through the front door.
The two twin rooms upstairs, although small, did have room in them to open the flip out futon chair if a child needed to sleep on it. There was a small TV in one of the twin rooms. The master bedroom, which was on the opposite end of the hall from the two twin rooms, was larger than expected and very nice with a large TV in it. In addition, there was a double sized futon couch and desk in the alcove outside of the upstairs bathroom. All the pillows and mattresses were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels and extra linens, blankets and pillows provided.
Cell service was good as well as internet access was available throughout the house which made it easy for the kids to use their ipods where ever they were!!! Although we did not use them, there were plenty of board games in a cabinet.
Be aware that the wood stairs are very slippery when walking in socks and a few of us almost fell and had to catch ourselves from sliding down them!!! WEAR SHOES!!!
The house is located on the first parallel street to the main street of Ludlow (right behind the old mill condos) which makes it very convenient to get to the mountain or for shopping and walking into town.
The homeowners were very gracious and nice to deal with both through emails and phone calls. We hope to return again when we need a house of this size.
The house was very cozy and comfortable. The property was well-maintained, kitchen has everything you would need, it feels like home. We enjoyed the house for the past 3 years. A quick ride to Okemo. We recommend this house for a family ski vacation.
I stayed at this house for two weeks in July 2010 and I loved it. The owners are very nice to work with. It's within walking distance to down town. I grew up in Ludlow and it was lovely staying at such an inviting home. I would recommend anyone to stay there.
The house is located within walking distance of the village of Ludlow. It is an easy walk to the village shops and restaurants. During the ski season you can walk to the Okemo shuttle bus stop which will provide round trip transportation to the Okemo base lodge. The location is also within a mile of the Okemo Valley golf course.
Ludlow is also a very convenient starting point for exploring the green mountain area of southern Vermont with easy access to hiking, additional skiing, shopping, and many local antique stores.
