After I retired in 2003, my wife and I began traveling on a regular basis. We enjoyed other countries; however, for various reasons decided to explore the USA. We enjoyed every region and state. We are at home on our mountain top that overlooks the Appalachian Trail; but, also enjoy the beach. After visits to beaches in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, we settled on the long white sand beaches and clear blue green-waters of the panhandle of Florida. This area is appealing to us.We found positives and negatives about each beach until we found Pensacola Beach. We both agreed at last, "THIS WAS IT".
Since that finding, we have visited Pensacola Beach many times. After visits to eight different Beach Rentals, we settled on this unit . We both enjoy the pool and beaches. Both are steps away from the patio. My wife can browse and shop the antique and specialty stores in the area. I can fish Pensacola Sound, Pensacola Bay, and offshore. There are Historic Sites and museums nearby. The best seafood anywhere. Our pick is the Marina Oyster Barn, followed by Flounders, and Peg Leg Pete's. However, not found a bad one on the Island.
We both love to walk on the beach. A few steps off the patio and you are at the Beach. Once on the beach, turn right and walk to the Pier (about a mile or so). Or, our favorite, when you reach the beach, turn left (east) and walk a short distance to The National Scenic Seashore. At that point, you have 36 or 38 miles of pristine, beautiful, undeveloped, and undisturbed dunes, beaches, and Gulf water. We have walked for hours without seeing another person,
In September of 2004, our travel plans and this entire area was devastated by Hurricane Ivan. We were forced to travel to other areas and had a good time. We found we compared each to this area and this unit specifically. Often, the other rentals were much more expensive but just did not come close. Our greatest fear was this unit would not be rebuilt and/or, would not be as good. To our relief, this unit was rebuilt and we returned in May or June of 2007. The unit was better than ever! Beautiful!, however, the area was still rebuilding. Each subsequent trip finds the area rebounding more, better, and newer. Our last trip was in September 2008 and was the Best ever. The condo is Beautiful. We are preparing for our next trip and can hardly wait!!
