When we arrived the place had a some type of strong unpleasant odor. I was not pleased with the fleas and spiders inside the cottage.The yard was covered with black droppings from the trees and would cover your shoes and track into the house. We stayed four nights and left the place spotless. We did not receive our full refund as stated in contract.
Owner's Response: We were disappointed as well to hear of our guests concerns only AFTER the guest checked out and realized that a contractually agreed to cleaning fee would be retained. We pride ourselves on providing our guests with a fantastic vacation cottage, not only in location, but also in presentation and service. Had we been contacted with the guests concerns, they would have been addressed immediately. The cottage was personally inspected 2 hours before the guests check in. The patios were clear of leaves and palm seeds, the cottage smelled fresh with cleaning products and there were no fleas or spiders present. In our tropical environment at the cottage, there are leaves and seeds that may fall from our palm trees. This is one of the few small inconveniences of the natural lush environment. Our cleaning fee and policy is clearly stated in our advertisement and the reservation paperwork. There is nothing hidden or undisclosed. We want our guests to enjoy their stay and not to worry about cleaning up/doing laundry before their departure. We charge a fair price and clearly disclose this policy and discuss with potential guests how it will be handled upon check out. We invite and encourage all guests to communicate concerns immediately (before/during and after the reservation process) so we may have an opportunity to provide the best possible vacation experience.
