This is a quaint, older beach cottage with lovely landscaping out front and a very cute exterior. The photos make it look larger then it really is. The lower level had a basement feel and smell with stained, grey lineoleum floors. The advertised wood floors and beadboard are in the upper level only. We were right across the street from the beach access which was very nice, but there were no ocean views from the upstairs porch. Screened in porches are wonderful to have, but too many mosquitos & other insects were able to gain access. The kitchens were poorly equipped and the appliances were old. Outside shower had only cold water and was close to the street. If you are interested in dining together, you have to carry chairs upstairs and then only 8 people can sit around the table. Many things malfunctioned or fell apart during our stay: air conditioner, screen door handle/latch, dryer, refrigerator, closet shelf and rod. Some of these were repaired during our stay and some were not. It is understandable that things will go wrong with an older place, but it is not what you want to be dealing with when you are on vacation. We would suggest that before your stay you find out what repairs of this older cottage you might be charged for. We were very glad to be able to bring our dogs here and there are not a lot of places that allow you to do this. It was also nice that smoking was not allowed. We loved the area, being able to walk to town, ride bikes on the beach, waves big enough to boogie board on and a short ride to Charleston. We plan on returning to the Folly Beach area, but, unless you have or want to bring your dogs we do not recommend this place.
Owner's Response: During the three and a half years we have been sharing our beach house with vacationing families, this has been our first bad feedback. Up until now, we have had nothing but glowing reports from many many happy renters. Feel free to check out the guest books in our home for yourself, and soak up some of that Folly Beach stress relief in person. Cheers!
