We had a great 2 night stay in this home near the lake. The house is really beautiful. We loved the look of the log home and it felt like a real mountain house. We were able to fit 2 mid-sized SUVs in the driveway. The house is across the street from the lake, so you can see the lake through the house and trees. There is public access to the lake in walking distance a few houses down to the right. The area is small but includes a dock, picnic table, fire pit and some chairs. The boat slip that comes with the house is a few minutes drive at the end of the community. There is a place to park and you have to walk down steps that are bit steep, but it is a nice place to just sit on the dock, fish and obviously if you have a boat.. They have a fire pit in the yard which we enjoyed at night. The loft and one of the 2 bedrooms have window unit ACs, however the bedroom one was a bit noisy. I got used to it the second night with earplugs, but I would recommend bringing a fan to cover up the noise. Also, bring a fan for the other bedroom without the AC in the summer because the ceiling fan did not work. Both bedrooms have doors with screens to the deck, so you can get air from there. The deck stretches all across the front of the house. There were chairs and it was a very relaxing place to sit and look at the lake. One of the twin beds in the loft was broken, but we informed the owner and it wasn't as issue for us because we only had one person sleeping up there. The place was clean, but we did bring our own comforters for the beds, which I would recommend. The downstairs has a TV with DVD player and a foosball table. The community is very cute and quiet. The houses are not that far apart but it still felt very private. There are plenty of boat rentals about 20 minutes away, so we went out on the lake one day on a boat. The grill was a good addition for an easy dinner prep, however we had to buy a grill brush because we could not find one in the house. There are grocery stores and restaurants about 15-20 minutes away. We booked this house on a Tuesday for that weekend's stay which was great. The owner was very quick with e-mailing me back. There was a mis-communication with getting the security deposit, but a quick phone call resolved that and I received the payment later that day. I would recommend this house. We were able to bring our dog, who loved it. It fit 5 adults very comfortably.
We stayed at this house over President's Day weekend & booked about a week before. The owner was extremely responsive to my questions and the transactions were easy and timely. Very easy to deal and would definitely recommend for this.
The house was well-maintained and very clean. Everything was exactly as in the photos and it was a nice cabin. Furniture was basic but comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked with most things you would need for cooking. The house is perched above a lake in a nice, quiet community. We actually only saw 1 other person the entire time we were there. We were mostly snowed in while we were there, so did not do much exploring in the area, but did ski for half a day in Scranton (~45mins away) on our last day. I would recommend this for a peaceful respite in the winter and assume it is much more of a summer destination with the lake.
Minus a star only for not shovelling/having driveway plowed prior to arrival. A large snowstorm had occurred the day prior to our arrival and we arrived late at night to ~3 feet of snow to be shovelled before we could access a path to door to obtain the key and then also to be able to use the driveway. Granted the owner warned us that he had only shovelled earlier in the week, but we were unaware that a full 3 ft awaited us & had no easy way to access the shovel awaiting us in the garage. I understand it was a large snowstorm & only the day prior so we did not complain, but just recommending it as more of a courtesy for future bookers.
Helpful to note: if reserving in winter when snowing, we found a 4WD vehicle to be absolutely necessary due to a hilly location. We had AWD and still ended up spending a good deal of time pushing our car up the hill out to the main road.
My family and I decided to spend Thanksgiving in the Poconos area this year and we booked this house for our mini retreat. It is nicely and easily located, with it being a quick drive from a little lake front boat launch site, which we were able to drive to and admire the lake at. It was snowing at the time so we stayed in the house for the majority of the time. The house was nice and cozy for our 5 family members and pomeranian. There was a great heating system in the house, where you could heat up each room separately and adjust the level the heat came out at. It was also fully equipped with all pots and utensils, which made making Thanksgiving dinner very easy. The inside was nice, relatively new and clean, as the pictures show. Not only was the house impressive, but the environment and surrounding is what really made the trip. The quiet, private, and peaceful environment made our retreat very enjoyable. Also, one thing that really stuck with our family was how little light pollution there was...we were able to really enjoy the amazing view of the stars at night.
Overall, a GREAT trip and we would recomment this house to anyone looking for a nice winter retreat or a fun summer vacation! Terry was also great to work with, he was very patient in sending us reminders for payments and deposits, and responded to emails and phone calls in a timely manner, even talking with us on the phone late at night when we needed help finding the house when we arrived (I'd recommend checking in earlier since the roads aren't lit and so you can take in the beautiful landscape too).
I can't say how beautiful this house is inside and out we just fell in love with it ! All the pictures you see are all real pics !! There's a place for a fire on the side of house towards back, the inside looks like its brand new, there are enough pots and pans as the previous renter stated if you want to make corn bring a big pot we did, also tongs, and a chopping board (only thing we missed bringing and I don't chop on counters) Our dogs loved it and they were very well behaved here !! We brought a gate for the top so they were confined and no worries, very private place 2nd tier on lake. Not a lot of thru traffic but must say some people do go flying by (in front) and don't abide the speed limit! Its very quiet and peaceful. All in all we had a wonderful quiet relaxing couple days wish we could have stayed longer and we definitely go back. Didn't like the free axcess to the water but that was just me I don't like walking on all the rocks but the dogs did ! Oh yeah.. lots of cleaning supplies and some spices are there and I have never seen a refrigerator put out sooo much ice !! It was awesome! Could use a dust pan which I don't think I found and if you have left overs bring some plastic containers that would help we used zip locks instead and bring some dish towels if you wash by hand which we did. We had great communication between me and the owner. Thank you again Terry it was fun !
We stayed a whole week . The house was clean and amenities stated in the AD were there. The owner was great to deal with . we mainly emailed and he always responded right away . Plenty of pots and pans . The boat dock for the house is down the road at the end of the community road about a 2-3 min drive . There were two places to go swim 1- 6 houses down between two houses at a community trail to the lake and the 2- at the community lookout spot/ boat launch. Both had lounge chairs and picnic tables . Subtle to swim atleast 5ft deep at the dockside. The house was sparsley decorated . Its a log home as in the photos . We had an issue with the tv but contacted the owner and brought another one over the next day . Cable is very basic like 10 channels but you can use the dvd player for movies . No blu-ray though . And on 2 mins away we went to a qwik mart to rent red box . The one car garage came in handy since parking is really tight . We put our 6x8 trailer and mortorcycle right in it. And if you have a boat trailer you may be able to put on the side yard if your lucky . Like i said parking is really tight . Mainly because the house sits at the intersection with a road behind and in front of it . so i would carpool if bringing a large group . The gas grill was nice and there was plenty of patio furniture and seating . The temp was cool enough to not have to run the window AC units . And each bedroom had a ceiling fan . The only down side no washer or dryer . Wish they also had a vaccum there cuz with all the rock roads the dirt was always being tracked in . There was ample cleaning supplies and a dust pan and broom. Which i used to spot clean floors . The bedrooms had queen size bed, lamp and nightstand . But no dresser even though there were hangers in the closet i wish they had a small dresser or another 2 draw nightstand . Hard to put a weeks worth of clothing away . There is a dishwasher apt size 24" , it was nice not to have to hand wash anything . And this place is dog friendly so another plus for us . It does have a view of the lake and you sit about 100 ft from the lake . In the evening it was great to sit on the covered deck . All and all we had a great time at the house . Wish we brought our atv's there are a ton of trails in this private community . So if you want a reasonable , dog friendly house, with boat dock access within the community i would rent this . We will defly keep this place in mind for next summer .
Not as expected or advertised. There are 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds, 1 futon that can only sleep one and a pull out couch that is rusty and dirty which we could not use as a bed. One queen bed squeeked all the time - the other was taped together with electrical tape. The frame was broken and there was only a mattress. My son fixed the frame correctly (we went out and bought tools and screws) and when we tried to put on the mattress found out that the mattress was a queen and the frame a full - did not fit (no wonder it was taped together). A call with the owner resulted with us first being asked if we could sleep on the mattress on the floor. Finally the owner agreed to buy a new frame but asked us to pick it up. We had to spend most of the second day picking it up and putting it together. He tried to buy only a frame but had to get a bedboard also to put under the mattess (there is still no boxspring). We had to clean both bottom floors extensively before we were comfortable. Ceiling fans couldn't be turned on until cleaned. We could not cook in the oven or on the outside grill because both were filthy. Owner promised to refund cleaning fee because of all of our work but did not do so - said we didn't clean well enough before leaving. There are only two small window air conditioners in the two bottom bedrooms - did not cool off 3rd bedroom on top floor. Ony furniture in bedrooms are a bed and a nightstand (what you see in the picture is all there is). Outdoor furniture on deck were either broken or filthy. Save your money and rent elsewhere. I have stayed at numerous homes with Home Away in several states and this is the first property I have ever had a reason to complain about. Owner never even responded when I mailed out deposits and rental payments - I had to email him to see if he had received. I took pictures of all the issues. I would give this no stars if I could.
