Perfect Newport Getaway...Quiet neighborhood yet Walk to Shops and Restaurants

If you want to emerse yourself in the character of Newport, this is a great place to do it. We felt like locals here. It's close in, so you don't need a car, and the full kitchen and washer-dryer allow you to be self-sufficient, The neighborhood has all the charm that you'd expect, and the walk to Thames takes you past historic homes and coastline. We watched fireworks from a public access area at the end of our street and had a great view without the crowds. The access areas are tiny, so you can mistake them for private property, but signs indicate where you can go. A resident was very welcoming, as was Annie throughout our stay. The 2nd-floor deck is another great resource. It's roomy, clean, well-furnished, and surrounded by flowering trees and pines.
