This large 2-story home is on a beautiful and tranquil tidal creek located in a quiet and serene neighborhood near Darien on the Georgia coast. It is convenient to I-95, Savannah, Brunswick, St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Jekyll Island, and Jacksonville, FL and is surrounded by majestic oaks draped with Spanish moss. The house has large windows and doors allowing beautiful views of the river and marshes. There is a screened porch and large deck overlooking the river from the main level and a large deck and lanai overlooking the river downstairs.
The Kitchen has Jenn-Air and Bosch appliances and overlooks the dining area and a large family room with fireplace. The Master Suite, which is almost as large as the kitchen, dining, and family area, has a king Select Comfort (sleep number) bed, sitting area, fireplace, mini-office, and spacious bathroom with large soaking tub and private shower and toilet. The other bedrooms are large with private vanities and beautiful views of the outdoors. Open the casement windows to enjoy the coastal breezes or take advantage of ceiling fans in every room.
There are 2 single person kayaks, 1 double kayak, and a canoe that can be enjoyed during your stay. There are also paddles for the canoe and kayaks, life jackets, and adult and kids bicycles in the 2-car garage. The biking is relaxed and beautiful while winding through the live oaks and wildlife that cover the peninsula. There is also great bird-watching with a nature trail that allows you access to rare and exotic wildlife.
There is a marina with a lift and boat ramp only minutes away where you can put your boat in the water and purchase bait. Bring your boat, tie it to the dock, and enjoy it for fishing, water skiing, tubing, and access to the nearby islands. But please note, no personal water craft (PWCs) are allowed and idle speed (no wake) is required near docks and boats.
If your goal is to find quiet and spacious relaxation, you'll find that here. And if you're looking for activities that connect you with the outdoors and renew your spirit, it's here and within your reach. Either way, the tranquility and variety of Coastal Georgia is only a click and a phone call away.

We love the relaxing atmosphere of our home and the appeal of the Darien area. We also enjoy bringing the kids down with their friends to fish, swim, ride bikes, and canoe.
Our favorite places to go and eat are B&J's in Darien, which have the best fried shrimp around, and Willie's Weenie Wagon in Brunswick for their fish sandwich, fries, and sweet tea.

Cindy Irwin purchased this house in 2007
Jeff is from this area and in 1989 we were married in the old Presbyterian Church in Darien. This was my Mother's home and is where we had our wedding reception. We wanted to keep the home in our family to be able to enjoy the beauty and fun of this community and area. We also wanted our children to experience this special part of Georgia.
There is a deep hole right below the dock where the fishing is often tremendous! In fact, it's common for folks to travel some distance by boat to fish here. In addition, porpoise feed here on most low tides and manatees are sometimes seen during the summer.
Cindy definitely goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome! Beautifully decorated with extra's to make you feel comfortable and special. We loved all the sports available. Nice neighbors and nice walking areas. Family loved this rental the best. Perfect for quiet, relaxing vacation. Town has very nice people too!
This was our second visit and even better this time since we had an entire week to kick back and relax. My husband and I vacation by renting through VRBO, no hotels or B&Bs, and we find that not all VRBOs are this nicely appointed. The house is immaculately clean and comfortable. In the kitchen you'll enjoy full sets of unbroken and unchipped dishes, glasses, wineglasses, pots, pans and bakeware. The sheets and towels are soft. She has tons of "goodies" in the jar in case you've forgotten shampoo, soap or conditioner. The house is near to the end of a long, narrow island so it's incredibly quiet and peaceful. No through traffic or boat noise because it's "no wake" and the fishermen are respectful. We don't fish but we were entertained at high tide by the folks who anchored at the fishing hole on the river; they were catching redfish. There are walking paths under the ancient Oaks and a Nature Trail to enjoy. The neighbor's Black Lab did not wake us nor bother us or our 10-pound dog. Perhaps it was just "one-of-those things" for the previous reviewer...? This home is so delightful and the neighborhood so lovely that we'll make this an annual destination.
The house is even better than the photos. The area is so quaint.
The marsh trees are a perfect picture of "The South". The beautiful
sunsets on the marsh could be painted. The house is stocked with
everything you could possibly need and the house is very clean.
The owners were excellent to work with and throughout our stay
Cindy sent emails of things going on in the town of Darien.
Jekyll Island is only a short drive down the road.
I would recommend this house and location to anyone! Oh yeah, did I mention
there is fishing right off the dock right on the property.
We stayed a week and took the boat. Although I had never fished on the GA coast, with it's big tides, they were fun to fish. All of the areas we saw and fished were plenty deep enough to navigate at low tide. Its only a short boat ride to Sapelo Island and the open ocean. The dock had electric power and fresh water, and no bugs the whole week. Water under the boat was deep at low tide at the dock.
The house is great, just as described, and very, very clean. Everyone had plenty of room and plenty of privacy. There is a nice ping-pong room off the garage. The area is very nice and safe. We visited Savannah one day as well as Brunswick. Both are easy drives.
Usually when the vacation is over I'm the first in the car, ready to get home. On this trip I wanted to stay. The only slight negative is now my grandson wants a kayak!
I chose this house not for the house but for the river and outdoor activities. The house was ok. Had everything we needed. The fishing was non stop, all kinds of variety to catch. Most of the time it was extremely quiet and relaxing. The dock at low tide can be a steep climb down, and the dog "angel" next door likes being your alarm clock early in the morning. She likes to bark and act like she's the boss around the place. Just go meet her early in your trip and she'll quiet down and won't be so noisy and is very friendly. Seen a small alligator in the pond before the neighborhood and got to see a dolphin with her baby swimming past the dock.
The beach was is 30 to 40 minutes. Would recommend st simon's island over jekyll island for kids. The sand is much better, but then again, better sand means, more people and was very crowded.
If you have a boat, this would be paradise. Even without a boat, I'm glad i had the chance to experience this house. We normally go to OBX, but after this trip, we are coming back to Georgia coast for 2015.
It was very nice, a good place to relax. I would recommend this place for adults. The teenagers had a hard time finding something to do. The house was very comfortable
Fishing and Crabbing from dock. Wildlife viewing includes Dolphin and Manatee in the river. Bikes and Helmets, Canoe and Kayaks (2 singles and 1 tandem) with Paddles and Life Jackets are on site. Great Restaurants and Outlet Mall nearby.
