High quality hiking and mountain biking trails are located all around the home in the national forest. Hike and bike in the National Forest/Trout Creek basin in front of the house to the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Historic Tallac and Vahalla Theater at Lake Tahoe:
Valhalla Boathouse Theater
For a most memorable Lake Tahoe experience, go see any or all of the fine productions at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater. Tickets are available through the Tallac Association: Admission varies per performance, with pricing for adults, seniors and children.
Today, visitors can capture a glimpse of this opulent past when they explore the site. The Pope, Baldwin and Valhalla Estates are open to the public in different capacities. The Pope Estate, built in 1894, is open for guided tours and houses changing art exhibits. Valhalla is a Grand Hall with beautiful wood floors, an open wood beam ceiling, a balcony of lodge pole construction and a 20 foot high stone fireplace! It was built in 1923 and is now the site of summer concerts, the Cultural Arts Gift Store and is available for rental. The Tahoe Tallac Association, in conjunction with the USDA Forest Service, is committed to restoring these estates and opening them to the public.
Ski:
There are 12 ski resorts in the area. Two miles from the home is the world famous Heavenly Valley Ski Resort with 3500 ft of vertical, top elevation of 10,067, 30 chairlifts, boarding parks and over 100 trails covering over 4800 acres. Kirkwood is 25 minutes away and has 2000 ft of vertical, 12 chairlifts, boarding parks and 65 trails. Sierra at Tahoe is 30 minutes away and has 2212 ft of vertical, 13 chairs, boarding park and 46 trails. Other resorts within an hour are: Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Mount Rose, Diamond Peak, and Homewood.
