Great cabin on a great river. 5 of us stayed for 3 days with plenty of room. Cabin is clean and comfortable and on a great stretch of the river. The owners are great to deal with and we highly recommend this cabin.

GREAT STAY

  • 5 of 5
Cozy little cabin with good river access. The owners were very accommodating and easygoing. We were looking for a place to rent for a fishing trip and am really glad I stumbled upon this one. I'm definitely keeping it on the list for future trips.

RELAXING, COZY, CLEAN RETREAT

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time! The Woolly Bugger was an awesome place to stay at - it was on the river so we had access to it all the time. We kayaked and tubed down the river! The house was cozy yet roomy for everyone to spread around; it was clean and had all the necessities we need for the week. The firepit at night, with the sound of the river in the background, was very relaxing after a full day of fun with the kids!!! Thank you Renee for accomodating us on short notice! We truly loved our family vacation time at your place! We'll do it again soon!!!

GREAT FOR A SKI TRIP

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the Woolly Bugger as part of a weekend ski trip to Crystal Mountain. It was a little difficult to find, but once we did it was a great cozy cabin and perfect for our group of four adults and three kids. The driveway was plowed for us before we got there and again that night, which was really helpful because one family didn't have a great car for clearing snow. We enjoyed sitting around the fire and hanging out in the dining area, and the kids liked the bunk beds. Everything was clean and well-taken care of, too. Thanks for a great weekend!

WOLLY BUGGER GET AWAY

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at the Wolly Bugger was a wonderful get away for our family. It was very clean, and cozy, and had plenty of room for our four adults, and five kids. The kids had a great time fishing in the river, while the guys went kayaking for the first time.
We were able to take a short drive to the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and get back in time to cook dinner on the grill. The Wolly Bugger would be a great escape for anyone looking for an outdoor experience, with the luxury of electricity and running water.

FAMILY VACATION AT THE WOOLY BUGGER LODGE

  • 4 of 5
We had such a wonderful vacation at the cabin. You feel away from it all, yet you are located near everything you could need or want. The river is peaceful and beautiful and full of interesting wildlife (crawfish, steelhead, ducks, muskrats). Our favorite place to visit was Point Betsie lighthouse and Crystal Lake. The beaches were great. We always ended the day with a fire in the pit and s'mores. It is a great place and very cosy!

WOOLLY BUGGER

  • 5 of 5
We loved the Woolly Bugger lodge. Two families of eight plus baby shared the lodge for one week. Very clean and well maintained. One teenager slept on the comfortable bench seat out in the enclosed porch, where there happens to be a TV/DVD. Everything in the lodge works - from the washing machine, to the coffee maker, to the shower and toilet! We really appreciated having the key to the shed and access to the river tubes. The Betsie River treated us very well: caught king salmon on the fly rods, tubed, swam, and watched it flow. Will need to hike down a moderately steep hill to get to rustic dock right on the river at the lodge. Can hike 15 minutes up- stream and float down to dock in about 25 minutes in chilly, clear water. This is a great place for people who prefer to make their own meals as opposed to eat every meal in a restaurant, who want to explore Northern Michigan, who like the fact that you can make noise, laugh, and leave your towels, tubes, and fishing rods out on the lawn without having anyone come by to tell you to be quiet and pick-up. The lodge is a great launching place to all Northern Michigan has to offer - Lake Michigan beaches, apple & cherry orchards, drive-in cinema, and picturesque towns. Be sure to eat cherry pie at the Cherry Hut, buy notepaper at Gwen Frostic's in Benzonia, and bike from Buelah to Frankfurt and back.
