living as a New Yorker

Monica Rome Rome, Italy
Review Submitted: January 12, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We rented the house for three weeks. George was a real friend. Helpfull, kind, precious for every information. When we came back home in the evening after a day in the crowded Manhattan, we felt home. Confortable, full equipped, all facilities in it. It was a pleasure to stay there. We are an italian family of four people and we enjoyed our choise to visit New York living in Bay Ridge, one of the best place of Brooklyn, also to go jogging in the morning as my husband did.
Thanks George, you are a real gentleman. Higly recomended.

New York Getaway

Clean, basic accommodation in nice area of Brooklyn, ideal for anyone wanting the experience of staying in a local neighbourhood. Great location - nice walks along waterfront, children's playarea and shops all nearby. Travelled by sub-way (15/20 min walk to nearest station) and buses (nearest stop approx 2 mins). Both were regular and reliable and a multi-day Metro Pass gives unlimited travel on both. Travelled into Manhattan most days. Booked this accommodation at short-notice, choosing the location because visiting friends in Brooklyn. However, was ideal for visiting Manhattan too. Our children loved Ellen's Stardust Restaurant near Times Square - bit pricey but good food and the staff sing to you while serving! La Villa Restaurant in Brooklyn excellent. Host at accommodation - George - very helpful, offering to collect and return us to the airport. It was a great base for us and the only negative comments we have are that we felt the bathroom was dated and the kitchen under-equipped for five (utensils, crockery etc). However, these issues would certainly not stop us re-booking this accommodation, should we visit New York again. Worked really well with our three children aged 16, 13 and 4. Much cheaper than any hotel we priced and more flexible. Just what we needed for a great stay in the Big Apple!

NY in a nutshell

Danruisu San Francisco
Review Submitted: August 30, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This is a great place to rent. The owner, George was able to accomodate my 2 friends and I for this last minute vacation. The apartment was easily accessible by subway/bus and only a block away from the bay (great views of both the Manhattan skyline and the Verrazano Bridge). When we arrived, the apartment was clean, with fresh towels and linens laid out for us. George was also very helpful and was there to answer all our questions. The apartment also had a kitchenette and A/C in both rooms. Overall, I would recommend this place to any traveller that is looking for a great value and can get around without a car. Thanks George!

Great Stay and awesome location

EmSundus Tampa, FL
Review Submitted: August 30, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, the location of the apt was awesome for me. It was a very nice and clean neighborhood, close to the major highways, sorry can't remember exactly which ones, and the shore was a block away. All the arabian stores were a few blocks away, which made my stay that much better. The renter was such a big help also, gave me alot of help on how to get around and where to go too. Even help before I got there with getting a rental car and other things. The apt was roomy enough for two people, not that much space but since it was just me and my husband it worked out alright.

Nice location

Tosa1 Wauwatosa, WI, USA
Review Submitted: August 29, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This apartment is near a river garden walk, promenade, and large park. Our landlord arranged a taxi service from the airport. He was personable and friendly and was accomodating when we asked for something. We took the subway into Manhattan everyday after a 4 block bus ride to the subway station. This got a little tiring, but it was pretty easy. There are small grocery stores, drug stores, and small restaurants about 4 blocks away. We recommend a sushi restaurant on 3rd street. The apartment itself is not the one pictured in the ad, except for the bedroom photo. It had plenty of space for the 3 of us, although we didn't spend lots of time there. It looked freshly painted and relatively clean. Towels were inadequate, faucets leaked, and more cooking utensils like spatulas, sharp knives, and strainers are needed. We didn't cook many dinners, though. There was no sink plug, so all dishes had to be washed individually under running water with a used sponge. There was only 1 electrical outlet in the bathroom which was in the old light fixture. The blow dryer kept blowing a fuse, so we had to blow dry our hair in the kitchen with no mirror. We were pretty flexible (but annoyed). Many females would blow a gasket over this. The ceiling light fixtures need coverings, more lamps would help, and the cable TV needed attention. Some bed sheets had holes. The beds were quite comfortable and firm with nice pillows. I would only recommend this to a friend if he knew all the drawbacks and I thought he wasn't too picky.
