Perfect location for a family

While my husband and I had visited NYC several times, we always stayed in a small hotel rooms in Manhattan as it was just the two of us and we were spending most of our time exploring the city anyway and just needed a bed for the night. However, this summer we decided to explore the city with our two young children (4 years old and 19 months old). We knew we would need more space and were seeking family-friendly accommodations...this is exactly what we found in our "home away from home" from the Karelas'.
The accommodations are exactly as described and depicted in the photographs...and actually even better once you actually see them in person. We found the home very clean and well kept. The kitchen was adequately stocked with the necessary items to fix meals, including basics such as pots/pans, cooking oil, spices, etc.
The home in Bay Ridge is located in a beautiful, well-situated community with plenty of nearby activity options for the entire family. The pier and bike/walk trails are great for strolling with the kids or taking an early morning jog for some quiet time. Within a 5 minute walk there is a fantastic park and playground for the kids to play. Dining options were plentiful (all within walking distance)...there were several local eateries that were holding World Cup viewings at their bars, so Dad could sneak away and watch a match or two! Catching the subway from this location was easy...the walk was a quick one and we were able to get to lower Manhattan in about 30 minutes. The bus stops were plentiful and we rode one to Coney Island and arrived in about 20 minutes.
I was nervous about finding a place to stay as a rental, however, from the first conversation I had with Mr. Karelas I felt confident this would be more than "just a place to stay" for us. George was very responsive and maintained communication with us from the minute we set the reservation to the minute we were leaving the city to return to Indiana. His wife was wonderfully accommodating and we enjoyed our time with her as well....and if your stay at their home includes a Sunday, we highly recommend taking up her suggestion to visit the church they attend for Sunday worship...we loved it!
We have already recommended this property to our friends and family. We look forward to staying there again on our next trip to NYC.
