We had a wonderful snowboarding getaway at Whispering Pines. The cabin itself was roomy, spacious and clean. The owners had done a lot of renovations to the place. We were able to sleep 8 people comfortably, and there was even enough room for all of us to dine together. The location was also great--close to nearby grocery stores, and our snowboarding resort (took 15-20 minutes). The owner was very responsive to all of our questions, which helped make our stay even more pleasant.

I have stayed here before; it is always wonderful. This is a big and quiet house with a fine open kitchen and huge comfortable living area, inviting bedrooms (one of the 3 has bunkbeds for kids), two nice bathrooms, and there are quiet neighbors, lots of driveway parking, and a short drive to downtown Truckee or up to Donner summit. A great place, for a very reasonable price.

Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

This is a great place for a family trip. Easy access to the slopes. My kids loved watching movies in the loft. Great place for families with younger kids. We will definitely come back.

Great Truckee Cabin

Our family of four spent nearly three weeks at "Howards Whispering Pines" and came to think of the cabin as our own! We loved that it felt like a home, with interesting decor and personal touches, yet it was as clean and well maintained as any motel. The two lounge areas meant that kids and adults had plenty of space. There are all the kitchen pans, utensils and crockery you could wish for, excellent laundry and a plentiful supply of bedding and linens. The house is warm and cosy with a great heating system. Most importantly for us, it is 5 minutes drive from town and only 20-ish minutes from our chosen ski fields (Squaw and Alpine). The owners were extremely helpful in answering our questions before we booked from home in New Zealand, and their 'instruction manual' was comprehensive and helpful. This cabin is excellent value for money and the photos on the listing are an accurate representation of the property.

Our party of 6 had a wonderful stay. Kids / teens stayed mostly on the lower level while the adults enjoyed the master suite and TV loft on the upper floor. The cozy cabin provided great winter access to Tahoe Donner amenities and was convenient to town as well. The kitchen was well-equipped and the cabin in general furnished very comfortably. Thanks for hosting a great vacation!
