2BR/3BA WITH LOFT, BOYNE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE AT DISCIPLES

Staying here was a much needed blessing. We made last minute plans to get away as a family on our way to visit family in the Northern Peninsula. That was the best idea. Raquel was extremely accommodating. She quickly replied to my request to rent the unit. Upon arriving we were pleasantly surprised at how spacious and clean the unit is. There were so many family oriented activities; it really provided us with the family time that we so desperately needed. Although I had never used an electronic key code systems while staying at any other VRBO properties, I found them relatively easy to use. It was extremely comforting to know that we I didn't have to carry any keys around the resort. We also loved the shuttle service that is provided within the resort. We couldn't have asked for a better getaway! The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. That made things very easy for us to do a bit of grocery shopping and cook any meals so as to save a bit of money on fast foods. Nevertheless, we noticed that there were quaint restaurants within the resort. My kids really enjoyed the water park, arcade and eating at Everetts. We'll definitely be back. The service and accommodations were wonderful!

I have stayed a numerous VBRO units all over the world and the unit at Disciples Ridge was a real disappointment for many reasons.

First, upon arrival, getting into the unit was a problem. The owner had not set the code correctly for my stay. It took about 10 minutes to get that straightened out. Second, when I went to use the bathroom after arrival there was no toilette paper in any of the 3 bathrooms. Third, I did a quick inspection for other basics and found no garbage bags, dishwasher soap or dish detergent. Again, I contacted the owner about the basics and was told they would be delivered the NEXT morning by housekeeping.

The final issue was; the owner did mention that they had knowledge AHEAD of our stay, that the garbage disposal was not working correctly and that they would fix it when they arrived 3 days into our stay. It did not seem like it was going to be big problem until the sink started to back up on our second night and we could not run the dishwasher. I contacted the owner for the third time only to find out that they were unwilling to call a plumber because of the after hours expense and that the next morning they would fix it. We were unable to eat breakfast the next morning because all the dishes were dirty and we could not use the sink to wash the dirty dishes from the night before. What a nightmare! The owners should have hired a maintenance company to fixed it before we arrived.

The other odd thing about this rental is that the pictures are not actual photo’s of the unit and there is no “living room # 2.” Two of the bedrooms (master bedroom) have lockout pads on the doors. I have never seen anything like this. Forget your code going to the bathroom and the bedroom door closes - you are lockout of your bedroom!

The unit is well worn. Capet is stained and fraying in many spots, closet door would not close, bar stool was broken and exterior door knob to the deck was very loose. Location to lifts is good so just stay out and ski all day and night.

The kitchen was not well equipped, it was missing pot holders, paper towels and large frying pans. Hard to make pancakes or eggs in a 7” skillet.

No hairdryers were provided.

After many phone calls and discussions we were compensated for the garbage disposal problem. While compensated, it was not worth the inconvenience. It was upsetting and unsettling that it took so many attempts to get what we rightfully needed fixed and should have been provided. We will NOT be back.

Have traveled to Boyne frequently, and stayed in numerous locations within Disciples Ridge, Mountain Villas, and Bluegreen. Never had any issues anywhere until this trip.

Checked in on a Thursday, within a few hours the upstairs toilet became plugged/backed up. Not a problem, just took care of it and that was it. Also realized one of the dining room barstools were broke, seat came completely off by just lifting it up. Also, not a big deal...just put it in a closet so no one would get hurt. Realized garbage disposal did not work as well.

Friday morning...time to make breakfast! Kitchen is not really stocked well. Fry pan was big enough to fit one egg in it at a time. For a house this size, amount of guests etc... really? Luckily we brought a griddle, so pack one if you have it! Didn't expect to have tons of dishsoap etc, but had none at all. Dishwasher powder was hard as a rock. Made a run to Petoskey, again no big deal.

By Friday afternoon the kitchen sink started to back up. This was just from running water, dumping leftover soda etc down the drain. After a few hours it went back down. Called owner and got voicemail, left a message regarding the plumbing issues. Never heard back. Ever. Even had someone stay behind at the condo in case a maintenance person showed. Nothing.

We dealt with clogged drains all weekend, just grinned and bared it to get through the weekend. Couldn't use the kitchen sink the entire time. So it didn't really matter anyway if the dishsoap was plentiful or not.

One strange side note: There are keypads on each of the bedroom doors. Everytime you shut your bedroom door, you need to know a 6 digit code to get back into the bedroom. And they are both different. So the front door (expected), and both bedroom doors each have a different 6 digit code you need to know to get in.

The condo is in fact in a great location. But that's about it. There are so many others in the Disciples Ridge area that don't have the issues this condo seems to have. Not the owners fault the plumbing went bad, but some kind of response would've been nice. And the keypads on the bedroom doors were ridiculous.
