You can't get much closer to the water than this without being on a boat. This quaint little fisherman's cottage perches on the pink granite shoreline overlooking Pigeon Hill Bay in Steuben, Maine. The sun rises across the bay which is dotted with colorful lobster buoys and the boats chug up and down the harbor, in search of their catch of the day. Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge is just minutes away with hiking trails, and waterways to enjoy the myriad wildlife on this special peninsula in Downeast Maine. Acadia National Park and Schoodic Peninsula are both within 30 to 60 minutes of this paradise getaway. This comfortable, immaculate cottage sleeps 5 easily with two bathrooms and a full kitchen setup to cook your meals. Enjoy fresh lobster from neighboring pound, or head for Machias to dine at the many local restaurants. Sit by the fire in the quiet of the evening while falling asleep to the sounds of the loons in the harbor. Ahhh, Maine, the way life should be!

Amenities: This cottage is furnished, has a king size bed in master suite, twin bed in guest bedroom, both upstairs with a 3/4 bath. Downstairs has a full bath and a sofa bed that opens to a double bed. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots, pans, spices, silverware, lobster pot. Washer and dryer on site. Linens and towels are provided. No smoking and no pets

Safety Precautions: Since this cottage sits right on the shore of the ocean, it may not be suitable for young children. Please use caution when hiking along the granite shoreline, which can be slippery at low tide.

More then a cottage!

To call this lovely retreat a cottage does not do it justice. The “house” comfortably sleeps 5 with two full baths. Every accommodation you could think of has been provided by the owners. The house was clean, and inviting with every appliance, cookware, serving ware, and linen that you could think of. The view is gorgeous from the back porch; I could have spent my entire vacation just watching the water. We were lucky enough to spot a harbor seal on our time there!
There is a quant town called Milbridge less then 10 minutes away with a charming movie theater, several restaurants and a full grocery store. There is also a ferry available from Winter Harbor, a short drive away, to take you right into Bar Harbor.

Fabulous Cottage

My partner and I have stayed at several different rental houses in this area of Maine, and this one is by far the best! As advertised, it was clean, well-maintained, nicely furnished, and comfortable. The view from the first floor is tremendous whether you're on the porch, at the DR table, or the kitchen sink. The granite rocks are a great place to watch the lobster boats, the eider, loons, bald eagle, and even a porpoise. 10-minute drive to Petit Manon Bird Refuge; 40-min drive to Great Wass trailhead on Beals Island; 25-min drive to Winter Harbor/Schoodic. Don't miss this rental!

I liked that I didn't have to pack all the extra's as when you go camping.Towels, pots,pans bedding,etc.It made me feel right at home.Plenty of room and the sight is breath taking. The piece and quite is a great plus. I also liked that it is only an hour to Bar Harbor, where you can spend the whole day sight seeing and shopping & the restaurants are plenty.There are alot of other attractions with driving distance.

Everything you expect from Downeast Maine

This quaint cottage on the water's edge in Downeast Maine is the perfect getaway. The setting is serene and peaceful and makes for a relaxing vacation. The cottage is clean and updated and has everything you need including a fireplace for chilly nights. We especially enjoyed waking up, sitting on the back porch and watching the sea, while having coffee. We recommend this vacation rental to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!!!
