Why Liza Szabo chose Yosemite National Park

one mile to town for gas, groceries, post office, coffee and shops yet in the mountains bordering nearby river and swimming, easy to get to. Three local waterfalls and three lakes, 2 miles, 5miles and 12 miles from house.

What makes this house unique

ammenities, kids playgrounds, stores, bar and grill, dining out, post office.

Guestbook comments from the owner

January in Yosemite is a lot nicer than folks know. The nighttimes might be nippy but with a wood stove fireplace and central heat, a 30 degree night is warm to us compared to Minneapolis in winter. The views from the home

made us feel like we didn't have to go out to find nature. Plenty of different types of things to do as its one mile to a small town making it easy for us to shop groceries and cook in the gourmet layout kitchen. The feng shui of the kitchen made it so we could talk while some ate at the table and others of us visited in the living room. There was also a post office and bar and grill and a river we could walk to as the owners indicated, making it easy to picnic without long drives. The home was elegant and clean with new upgrades. Last year we insisted on inside the park but wound up driving for

every little thing, it was colder and bad roads and nothing to do. We recommend off season to come here and its quiet and easy to relax, no crowds but all the things the sierras and yosemite have to offer. The owner was kind and easy to work with. Thank you Liza and Mike.

Spacious property - nice for summer getaway but bit of a drive to Yosemite Valley

  • 3 of 5

My family (Mom, Dad, three daughters ages 6/8/10) booked this house through homeaway.com for a rather last minute trip to Yosemite over spring break. We understood it to be a 30-minute drive to the southern entrance of Yosemite Nat'l Park - but we didn't appreciate that the main attractions in the valley are another 35 miles (@25mph). I think this house would be fine for summer activities (Bass Lake appeared to be nice) and a one-day trip to Yosemite but for a family interested in seeing as much as the national park as we could, it was taxing to drive the extra 1.5 hours each way. We happily drove it and enjoyed our stay - but next time we'll stay inside the park.

The property is spacious and nice enough. It's well-suited for large groups/families. I counted 8 beds (including a twin in the dining room) that could easily sleep 11 ppl total. I was a bit surprised that the owner charged us an additional guest fee of $7/nt for a house that can sleep 11 (nominal sum in the end - but a bit irritating). We were also charged $75 for propane usage (it was 25F at night). There is a fireplace but we could find no wood anywhere on the property. At this price point, you usually don't see such itemizations.

The owner, Liza, was responsive by email (24 hr return message) - providing check-in instructions and sightseeing tips. She was not reachable by text/phone (#s provided always said "voice mail box full").

The kitchen is a nice size and stocked with items you would expect. There are some minor repairs needed (e.g., the knobs on the range are broken and required a wrench to turn).

The soaking tub is a nice feature. Note to women - there is no hair dryer on the property.

Other tip - North Folk market was a bit dismal. Worth the trip to the Vons in Oakhurst.

An Oasis - Quiet and great for families

  • 5 of 5

This is a long due review. Very comfortable and complete with kitchen appliances. Close to supermarket and about 45 min to 1 hr ride to Yosemite. Nice view at Bass Lake as well. I recommend this place for sure and hoping to be able to come back with my family. It's a great place for Childrens as well as they have a lot of space to play. Everything was working well and wished we stayed longer. Rico and Anna.

Almost perfect

  • 4 of 5

Space was great. Very comfortable and homey vibe. Lots of towel, blankets, and toilet paper for use. The jetted tub was great! Also, it was kinda nice to be distanced from other homes as we were able to be loud without complaints.

Few things that were not so great:

- I didn't know that propane usage (for stove use..?) isn't part of the payment for the cabin so I was charged $25 for about 2-3 hours use.

- Wi-fi was weak. It kept disconnecting but then again, the cabin is in the woods.

-TV was alil bit of a puzzle to work.

Overall, I'd recommend this place!

Very comfy, clean, all of the necessary kitchen ware for making dinner for the kids was there, village super market was like 1 minute drive, Hot shower working great, heater. etc.

I would recommend this place for anyone who plan to make a trip to Yosemite national park.

Most Excellent New Years!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I (nine of us total) wanted to do something awesome for New Years, so we rented this house for a few days. It was really great! The house was cozy with the wood-burning fire every night, we cooked every night, and we did some outdoor activity every day. The house itself is set away from the road, so we were able to let our two dogs off leash to just run around without worrying about them getting down to the road or disturbing the neighbors. The house was clean and just big enough to work for our group. Liza was great at communicating with me throughout the process to ensure that everything was taken care of. Overall excellent location and great experience -- would definitely do it again!

Owner's Response: There are also great communicating renters, that makes as much difference to a good experience as the owners, and I can say this group lead by Eric, was cordial, courteous, patient and kind and the generous feelings were on both sides. Thanks for coming and come again! we know it can't always be perfect but kindness on both parts makes everything nicer, and a clean house as our new bass lake maids , keep it to snuff, helps a lot too!

Great Place to stay while enjoying Yosemite Park and surrounding areas

  • 5 of 5

My wife, my 7month old puppy and I recently stayed at this property. I read all the reviews and I just want to say, don't read in to them too much. There is nothing wrong with the driveway or the surrounding property. Your in the mountains, its not a suburb. It's peaceful, it's quiet, it's perfect for relaxing. The drive to Yosemite is not bad at all. We made it there in 37 minutes and the scenery on the way there was awesome. Liza ( an owner) was fantastic and communicating with her was flawless. She was a big help to us since we had never been there before and recommended quite a few great places to visit. The grocery store, which is about 7 minutes away by car is probably something your not used to visiting to buy groceries, but it's AWESOME. Again, your in the mountains, you have to go with the flow. If you want peace and quiet and just want to relax, this is the place to go. Thank you again Liza for all your help. We'll be back.
