The waterfront park has activities for the whole family. Tennis courts, basketball courts, playground, and free outdoor music/events are going on at the Gilchrist Park. Very nice sidewalks are abundant in Punta Gorda for riding bikes, jogging, and walking. You will see a lot of people walking over the bridge to catch a great breeze and watch the boats go by on Peace River.

Punta Gorda has lots of canals that lead out to Charlotte Harbor. There are fishing charters out of Fisherman's Village & Burnt Store Marina. If you like to boat there are boat rentals available in both locations. For the young at heart check out the jetski rentals as well.
If you bring your sailboat you can dock it at your own private dock. Check out the Yacht Club for boats over 40 ft. Day trips to Sanibel and Captiva are fun for beach or lunch!
