Enjoy sunrises in this cozy Lake Huron Waterfront cottage on estate property. No extra charge for watching the freighters/sailboats. Cottage is on hill with fabulous views. Shoreline is rocky and attracts ducks, deer and other wildlife. You can launch a small boat/kayak and even go fishing. Sandy beach is just 1.5 miles north at Port Sanilac Marina, with a public launch for bigger boats. Plenty of parking on our property for boats/trailers/snowmobiles. In the evening, build a campfire and lean back to stare at the beautiful starry sky. Golfers can try the Huron Shores Golf Club just 5 minutes north. Sleeps 4 - Loft bedroom with 2 twin beds (can easily push together) and living room sofa bed. Linens and towels provided. -3/4 bathroom (with shower) -gas grill -beach chairs -picnic table -walking distance to roadside park -kitchenette (mini frig, stove top, microwave, countertop oven, coffee maker, toaster, pots & pans, dishes, utensils) -natural fireplace

Activities and Recreation: During the summer months you can also enjoy the local festivities such as Art shows, Antique shows and our many Craft shows. We also have our parades and garage sales, or if you are into history we have our local museums. Watch the sailboats pop over the horizon and pass on their way to Mackinaw during the Port Huron/Mackinaw races. During the winter months enjoy the water as it changes from the ice buildups, relax in front of the fireplace and read a book, or go hunting.

Away from it all...really?

The pictures of this unit do not provide an accurate view. It is MUCH smaller than it appears. It says it sleeps 4, but that really doesn't apply to 4 adults. The twin beds in the loft, which itself is hardly large enough for a grown person, are smaller than normal twin mattresses. They're definitely meant for children or shorter than average adults. As well, it would be difficult for four adults to be very comfortable in the unit all at once.

The cottage is very clean and well-kept, and the owners are very nice and helpful, but our cell phones didn't work and the wireless internet signal was somewhat weak. It was definitely not a secluded getaway due to the unit being on the same property as the owner's house with the neighbors only several steps in the other direction.

All in all, not a bad place, but not at all what we were expecting.
Owner's Response: I'm sorry to hear that you were not fully happy with the accommodations. The listing does note that the cottage is only 500 sq ft and it is on an estate property. The loft bedroom with the twin mattresses are of normal "twin" size as far as I know. I believe the pictures posted very accurately display the cottage and it's view of the water. I certainly didn't intend to mislead you, or anyone, in what we offer.

As for cell phone usage it all depends on your provider. Some services get better coverage then others. It may be helpful to check with your provider on your coverage for this area.

I'm not sure why the internet was weak for you. I've used the wireless internet myself out there, and have had tenants running "Yahoo Music" from their computers with external speakers.

Again, my apologies for your disappointment. I will take your comments into consideration for future tenants.

It was hot and muggy the first day,but I had just back from no humidity in the up of Mich. Cottage was comfortable and cute. Would have liked a bed downstairs instead of futon. All and all it was a great and relaxing two days and the restaurant at the docks was very good. Found the third of the best 3 deserts I have had in 56 years. It was the tropical breeze...light and fruity and fulfilling...other 2 is the peach cobbler at Brightleaf- Ky and the other was a texas french bread pudding that took nine days to make...rum raisins...etc. It was lite and filling at the same time.
