If you are looking for a private lakeside home on a beautiful 10 mile long Maine lake, then you have come to the right place. This home sits on Gannett Lane along the shores of East Winthrop Bay on Cobbossee Lake. The home was originally built at the turn of the century as the carriage house for the Gannett (publishing/media) family. While the original Gannett Cottage continues to stand next door, the carriage house was destroyed by fire in 1995 and was completely rebuilt with all the modern amenities. Its features include 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, W/D, living room, dining room, kitchen (with Jenn-air stove), huge deck, screened in porch, new dock, boat mooring, and attached garage. The home sits on 1 acre of land and features 100 feet of private frontage. Begin the day with the morning sun and a cup of coffee on the dock. Watch the loons as they swim and fish, just yards away. End the day by swimming in the moonlight or by simply sitting on the porch, listening to the cry of the loons.

My husband and I stayed @ this beautiful cottage the week of Aug29th of "09". We were both totaly (happily) surprised and completely satisfied with the place. The photos on line do not do the place justice, it is a gem!!!
It was clean, clean, clean. There was NOT one thing that you could have asked for that wasn't supplied. The lake is wonderful,dock and mooring right there within about 125 feet of the porch, shopping just down the road (xmas tree shop, sears, target, etc.)
Owner was terrific to work with. In my opinion, went out of his way to make everything just right for a great vacation.
Hope to be a regular renter in the future.

What a wonderful week we had in July this year, great place to stay. The Stevens family was very accomodating. Dan made adjustments to his dock site so it was easy to moor my 20 foot pontoon boat. We will return with more of our family next year..Lou and Linda
