History of the Lake
The McGinnis Family purchased the lake in 1975, back then the area was considered quite far west, over the years we have become more central with the growth of Fort Lauderdale.
The lake is 50 acres and approximately 30 feet deep, it is filled with freshwater springs. The original landowners bought the land to dig rock and sand from the area and sold the fill to builders who used it to build the Turnpike. It was dug so deep that they dug into the Biscayne Aquifer and that is how the lake was formed. We have freshwater Bass, Brim, Carp and Oscar fish in the lake. There are Ospreys nesting in the Pine Trees, a bald Eagle and many marine birds who live here. You will also see Iguanas. The water temperature in the winter months is on average 72 degrees Fahrenheit , in the peak summer months its up to 92 degrees Fahrenheit.
We have run a water ski school at the lake for 30 years. People from all over the world and the United States come to water ski with us.
