Both master suites have queen beds and large private baths. The third bathroom has a large Jacuzzi tub as well. All bathrooms have slate or travertine flooring. The well maintained, gravel driveway and large parking area can hold 5 cars.
A mowed grassy meadow adjacent to the house has it’s own wooden deck and 12 person picnic table with fire pit. This location is perfect for lawn games, cookouts, watching the sunset across the valley and stargazing in the clear, north Georgia nights.
The end-of–the-road seclusion and the 60 acres surrounding the home makes this location truly ‘dog-heaven’. When we come up to our smaller home on the property, our three dogs can all run free for the duration without fear of cars or leash laws. More than 10 miles of old logging roads crisscross the property, providing ready trails for hiking at either a low intensity level or as strenuous as you wish simply by scaling the considerable elevations on the property ( From the base of Fern Valley to the surrounding ridges it is roughly 800’ of elevation) Walking from one end of the property to the other takes about 1.5 hours and is a nice little bit of aerobic exercise
Loads of nearby activities from antiquing, mountain biking, Scenic railroad excursion, horseback riding, hiking, golfing, state parks, tubing, canoing and kayaking on the local rivers, boating on Lake Blue Ridge, or just cruising the back roads checking out the cows, apple and peach orchards. Many nice, local resturants in scenic settings. Convenient access to supermarkets, a drive-in movie theater in Blue Ridge(one of the last in Georgia), boutique shops, even a Wal-Mart. The annual apple festival in Ellijay is always a blast, complete with baby animal petting zoo, pig races, hayrides, clogging, country music and the local moonshine museum. Family fun for everyone.
While the location is remote, we do have consistent cell phone signal so you can still be in touch with the outside world if need be.
My husband Jon and I looked all over the state of Georgia until we found the perfect location. Ellijay is only an hour and a half drive from our hometown Atlanta. We love being in the Valley with all the different springs, creeks, and ponds on the land. We love all the nature that is so nice through out the year. We have mountain laurels, wild dogwoods, hundreds of wild flowers, and so many different kinds of fern!! It is so fun discovering all the differnt kinds of plants.
Sally purchased this house in 2006
We love being at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains with so many wonderful things close by. We love hiking the Appalachian Trail, going to Amicalola Falls, and boating on Lake Blue Ridge. We mainly love just being in the isolation of the woods, hearing turkeys, seeing deer and bears!
The greatest thing about staying at our property is it is so quiet! One guest suggested it was like staying in a tree house.
We have stayed here twice in two years. We live nearby but found we needed the space this home provides. Our family really enjoyed the fire pit outside. My folks are in their 80's and had no difficulty managing the stairs. We brought along a corn hole game and everyone got some great exercise, although there are plenty of games at the home already. The nieces spent the weekend in the hot tub, considering it was March, they had a blast. There is no competition for the master bedroom since there is one upstairs and one one the main floor. Good Time, Just Went By Too Fast.
I was in the area for my sisters wedding and I tell you we simply had a wonderful time and enjoyed the well equipped home and grounds the entire week..For starters I got lost on the way in running late to boot and had to call Sally to direct me to her home late at night and she was so gracious and helpful guiding me along. She is super friendly and always made me feel she was happy I called.
I ended up throwing a little cookout for the wedding party and the picnic area was just the most peaceful spot and a big hit with all the guests. My teenage kids loved the house and we all loved the area and had a blast tubing and sightseeing and just taking in nature.Elijay and Blue Ridge are wonderful.I am looking forward to going back.
Rented the cabin with a group of friends for New Years weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Three of us have dogs, and it was great to bring them with us. They really enjoyed running around outside the house. Cabin is very secluded. A couple of us are hikers and enjoyed going on quick hikes over the property. Since we were there in winter - there were no leaves on the trees - but I bet the property is gorgeous in the fall! We enjoyed the big deck and hot tub. The kitchen is a bit small, but it was well stocked with cooking utensils and pots and pans. The owner is super responsive with any questions we had - a great owner to rent from! I recommend this cabin to anyone looking to have a mountain getaway!
This vacation property offered everything we wanted and MORE ! The main home was beautiful and everyone slept comfortably. We were celebrating a large family birthday with guests ranging in age from 10 to 85 and there was something for everyone. There was plenty of room for family meals and lots of running and hiking areas for the children AND the dogs. Instructions for use of the house were clear and easy to find and the second house was great for some extra space. Amicalola Falls was only a short drive away as was the Pumpkin Farm and we stopped at a local orchard on our way home. The location is off the beaten path, but not TOO FAR, which was nice with so many young people. Finding the house was probably the hardest part of the trip as it is necessary to use many unmarked roads. Also, I would suspect that when the weather is really rainy or frozen, the roads may even be inaccessible with regular cars. The owner was only a phone call away when we had any questions. The price was quite reasonable for all of the space and amenities. Our family looks forward to a return for the next reunion ~~
Everything about this house held up to our expectations. It was secluded and accomidating. We did not see anyone near the property our entire weekend staying there. The local eateries were also a plus; a bbq joint called the Eastside Grill was only a 5 or 10 minute drive from the closest major road.
Oveall, great time, would love to come back
Had a wonderful time. So beautiful! Had a visit from four little black bears. The only thing I would change is the small kitchen and the twin beds are very firm. Other than that this cabin is amazing!!!! Had my 40th party there and it was perfect!!!! Thank you so very much!!!
This is a fabulous place to bring your dog. With 60 acres, you are almost guaranteed to not see another person or car going by unless it is someone you have invited up, or the owners who go to the other house 1/2 mile away occasionally on the weekends.
