A quarter-mile-long crescent of safe, lifeguarded, sandy beach with gentle surf, flanked by dramatic rocky points teeming with tropical fish and turtles--where is this slice of paradise? Right across the street from your stylish and spacious 2-bedroom/2-bath condo! No need to load the family in the car: just grab the cooler, beach chairs and beach towels(all provided in your unit)and walk to some of the best swimming and snorkeling on Maui! There are only three lifeguarded, designated swimming beaches in Kihei; if you want to do more than gaze at the ocean from a distance, this is the place to be!

Unlike many rental units, the owners frequently stay here themselves, resulting in personal touches and thoughtful upgrades that will make you feel like an honored house guest. With a recent remodel, this very spacious unit is on the first floor (one up from ground floor) of the coveted D Building--an end unit with whispering palm fronds surrounding it and a peekaboo Western ocean view, plus exceptional privacy and quiet at the far end of the building.

New carpeting and linens in the bedrooms (plus a new pillow top queen mattress) are complemented by ceramic tile floors throughout the rest of the unit and new designer paint set off by white millwork and new six-panel interior doors. A peninsula kitchen with custom cherry cabinetry and all new stainless steel appliances is charmingly open to the living area, making entertaining irresistible, especially with the inclusion of the over-sized lanai open on two sides to the tropical breezes. The two bathrooms were luxuriously updated in 2011 to include designer tile and granite countertops. Four new white ceiling fans in bedrooms and living area keep those breezes moving, but there's also an air conditioner if needed. Trendy halogen track lights add drama in the kitchen and gracious entry hall. In-unit washer/dryer keeps beachwear easily clean, and there is convenient access to the reserved parking just outside the door.

Twin beds, also new, in the second bedroom and a queen sofa sleeper in the living room add ample room for an extended family or two or three couples...room to sleep six if desired. A desk and cable hookup offers space for your laptop connection to the complimentary high-speed internet service; flat-screen TV, DVD/VCR player and ipod docking station are provided for your additional pleasure...that is, if you can tear yourself away from the romantic tropical landscaping, two pools with barbecue grills, tennis court, and the five-minute stroll down to fabulous Kamaole II Beach and the nearby shops and restaurants.

About Jeanne Erdahl

That's me, with one of the grandchildren that instigated my purchase of a second, 2-bedrooom unit at Kihei Akahi...now my kids and grandkids can be there when I am, and I can cheer on their efforts at swimming across the pool and building the best sandcastle on the beach! My Mom and Dad started coming to Maui in the fifties, and, when I got to the point where I couldn't live without my Maui fix, I discovered they had already done all the work for me in identifying the best island and best beaches, and they are right here in Kihei!

Why Jeanne Erdahl chose Kihei

In all senses, it's just the best! The Kamaole Beaches are stellar (and have been voted as best beaches in the world by several different publications) because they are safe, lifeguarded, close to snorkeling, and superb for swimming. I can walk to the library, good grocery stores, many restaurants and shops-- they're all within a mile of Kihei Akahi. It's also close to upscale Wailea with its many golf courses and shops, but much more economical. Access into 'town' (Kahului/Wailuku) is even easier now with a new four-lane highway all the way...not an all-day trip as it can be from the Kaanapali/Kapalua area. And the micro climate? Let me just say that when it's raining on most of the rest of Maui, Kihei is usually still in the sunshine!

What makes this condo unique

I love to be outdoors, and as a remainder-of-the-year resident of the Seattle area, I also crave sunshine, sunsets, swimming and hiking. When winter rolls around here, it seems like the sun doesn't rise until 9 and is setting again by 3 in the afternoon. That's just not enough daylight! When I'm in Kihei, I slow down, live every minute, glory in the birdsong, watch the whales cavort, become transfixed by the rhythm of the waves, smile at the little kids romping on the beach...and never even think of turning on the TV.

We had a great time in Maui and the condo was perfect. We appreciated the beach chairs, noodles, beach towels and coolers, all of which we used daily! The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking and the washer and dryer totally made our whole trip much easier. Thank you for allowing us to check in early, as well.

Great place to stay

Mahalo! we had a great time in Kehei the listing was really accurate. The unit was clean and really comfy to stay in. This was our first time in Maui and Jeanne was really helpful answering all my questions before we booked with her. We made use of all the amenities that they offered us, boogie boards, beach chairs, and coolers for our lunches on the many beaches. We will be booking in the future for our next trip to Maui.
We will definitely recommend this unit for anyone wanting to stay in Kihei.

Oustanding condo!

This is an EXCELLENT condo and my family had a great stay here. The location is about a three minute walk down the driveway to the beach and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. In addition, there are three grocery stores (Foodland, Times and Safeway) within about a 5-10 minute drive so you can easily stock up on whatever you need. The Safeway (most expensive of the bunch) is located in a brand new plaza with a bunch of restaurants. The condo has everything that you need, including a fully equipped, large kitchen, washer and dryer (not quite full size but more than enough), dining area with a table and chairs, living area (pull out sofa couch, a/c unit and TV), two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is a corner unit at the back of the property so there is no noise at all except the birds in the morning (and they can start chirping early). Boogie boards, cooler, chairs and umbrellas for the beach are also available in the condo. Great sunsets at the beach to boot. The drive to Lahaina is about 30-40 minutes so if you are doing a lot of activities there, be prepared for the drive. There is also a golf course (did not play) about a 5 minute drive away. The only thing missing for me would have been an a/c unit in the main bedroom since it could get pretty hot in the condo (lots of fans though) but with electricity prices so high, the one unit in the main area did a good job of cooling down the area. I would highly recommend this property.

Excellent value location

This is a spacious 2 bed 2 bath end unit. Comfortable convenient location. The wifi worked great. It was nice to have 2 separate twin beds in the 2nd bedroom for our kids. Full stocked kitchen with everything you need to make a full meal. One ac unit in the living room which kept the place cool enough. The condo had all your beach needs: chairs, towels, umbrella, sand toys, boogie boards. This was a huge plus since these items are charged heavily at the resorts. Kam 2 is the best beach ever!! The absolute best sunsets on Maui. Great location to walk to dinner and trinket shopping. We would rent this unit again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kihei Akahi. The condo was perfect for our family of four and it provided everything we needed including beach chairs and umbrella. We were able to use Kihei as our home base while we visit the Maui island. We visited many great restaurants in Lahaina and Wailea as well as making simple meals in the accommodating kitchen. We were happy to have the use of the washer and dryer and the 2 full bathrooms made getting ready for the four of us a breeze. The on site pools and grills gave us the flexibility to be comfortable while on vacation. The owners were so helpful and the listing describes the condo perfectly. We hope to visit again!

Suited our Needs Perfectly

Our party of three had an excellent two week stay at this condo. South Kihei is an excellent base for a Maui vacation (close to Wailea / Makena beaches at a fraction of the price, as well as easy access to other areas of the island) and Kihei Akahi is our choice complex that we seem to return to on our Maui trips. This was our first time staying in this particular condo, as well as our first time staying in a two bedroom corner unit. I must say that the space was very welcome.

The two bedroom condos have particularly large lanais, and this condo was no exception. The west-facing lanai meant that we could linger over breakfast without baking in the sun as the shade would last well into late morning. This condo was also very convenient due to it being situated very close to the parking spot, which was tremendously helpful for transferring baggage, groceries, etc. We’ve stayed in other Kihei Akahi units where such tasks were comparatively arduous, and we really came to appreciate the convenience.

The condo itself was nicely furnished, tastefully decorated and had all of the conveniences that you’d expect and more. I really can’t say that we wanted for much of anything that wasn’t already provided by the condo (e.g. kitchen utensils, beach equipment).

I corresponded primarily with Kathleen, and she was excellent with communication and answered any questions in a thorough and timely fashion. I would not hesitate to recommend this condo to anyone looking for a perfect Maui holiday!

PERFECT LOCATION, BEAUTIFUL ACCOMODATIONS

This is a great location. Locals we met said the best weather on Maui is in Kihei, and we believe it. Walk to great local beaches and short hops to Wailea or Lahina/Ka'anapali. The luxurious accomodations made us feel like pampered guests. Knowing we had a washer/dryer allowed us to leave the pack mule at home.
We enjoyed hanging out at the pool and BBQing as well as just relaxing on our deck and enjoying the afternoon breeze. Our entire stay was magical. Mahalo.
