Go to our website to see new video of the entire house! Stay at the only existing Plantation Mansion in Historic Savannah, the only vacation rental that also serves a Continental Breakfast in your private apartment. Besides having fully equipped kitchens and an out door gas grill, a Continental breakfast of fresh muffins, bagels, Nature Valley Breakfast Bars, 100% Arabica whole bean coffee is also provided free! There is a (2) bedroom, (2) bath apartment on the 1st floor of the main house. In the late 1800's Richard M. Lester built this Classical Revival Plantation Mansion in the Thomas Sq. Historic District. The wealthy and socially prominent Lester family played an important role throughout Savannah's early history and is the subject of John Jake's recent novel, ''Savannah or A Gift for Mr. Lincoln'. Located on a quiet street, the owner lives on the 2nd floor of the main house with his (3) Great Danes, Charlie, Moose and Scooter.

Unlike much of the south, the city of Savannah was not burned in the Civil War, so many old homes have survived to this day. John Jakes recent novel, ''Savannah or A Gift for Mr. Lincoln' paints a very clear picture of life in Savannah during the Civil War and the Lester family who built this house. Today Savannah has the largest Historic District by area in the USA and many grand old houses have been saved and restored. When I bought this house in 2005 it was in pretty sad shape, no heat, countless leaks and just plain ugly but now the old gal is fixed up and ready for the next century. The house is located on 35th St. between Abercorn & Drayton and it's a good walk to downtown but parking, tour buses and crowds are never a problem. It's great living in this big old house and being able to share it!

Notes: I have a number of Savannah guide books for guests to use so you won't have to drop $40 or $50 at Barnes & Noble. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the house but it is allowed outside on the front porch. If there is something you want me to pick up at the grocery store for you just let me know a few days before you arrive. There is a coin operated washer and dryer in the basement of the house. Distances: Forsythe Park - 4/10ths of a mile. Broughton Street shopping - 1.5 miles. River Street nightlife – 1.65 miles. Kroger Grocery Store - 0.75 miles Publix Grocery Store – 2.4 miles. 24 Hour Convenience Store - 4/10ths of a mile.

Owner Occupied!: I live on the 2nd floor of the house. That's good if you run out of ice at 9:30 at night and really shouldn't be driving. On the other hand, this is a quiet residential area and so it's not quite the right place for wild parties until dawn.

Big Dogs Welcome!: There is a dog park about a 10 minute walk from the house.

Hosting a Special Event?: If you want host something special, the living, dining, sun room and front porch can accommodate around 75 to 100 people for a cocktail party. There is a large yard next to the house so parking isn't a problem. I have a caterer that has help guests and knows the house. Please give me a call or email for more information.

This place was great! I stayed on the 2nd floor of the carriage house, which had just been renovated, and it was absolutely beautiful. It wasn't that big but there was plenty of room for my needs. It would be close enough to walk to the historic district in good weather, if you like to walk. The only complaint I had was with the shower. The showerhead was pointed at the corner and I couldn't adjust it so I had to cram myself into the corner to rinse off and since I'm short, that still didn't work too well. But other than that it was great! And the owner is available on site if you need anything but you don't see him if you don't want to, so it is great for couples who want to feel alone. He also allows dogs if you have one. Thanks!
