Bear's Retreat offers a 1st floor master suite with king bed, access to deck and hot tub, and a spa like bath with jacuzzi tub, separate shower and picture window view of the pond and wildlife refuge.The second floor offers two bedrooms with queen beds, and one bedroom with two twins and a full bed. There is also a cozy loft hideaway with 2 loveseats and TV. The warm wood paneled sun room has three glass walls with views to the 500th National Wildlife Refuge - perfect for morning coffee surrounded by natural beauty.

The game room has a full sized Brunswick pool table, a refrigerator and lots of seating for family tournaments. From this room you can access the side deck for sunset views.

The great room has a convenient gas fireplace and flat screen TV.

The yard is lushly landscaped with a pond and a clear stream which meanders the property border. Sunsets from the covered gazebo, decks, and hot tub are a beautiful way to end your day at Bear's Retreat.

Canaan Valley is a unique ecosystem in this part of the world. It is as if a piece of New England or Canada was plopped down into West Virginia. It's the highest elevation valley east of the Mississippi. Summers bring little humidity - temperatures rarely past the 90's, and cool refreshing evenings. Canaan's autumn leaves rival New England's brilliance and diversity of color. This area is also unusually remote for the 'East Coast'. You can hike in gorgeous remote places for hours and not see a soul - nor a man made structure. The Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge is the habitat for over 150 bird species and a major flyover in the Fall. Other attractions include the Canaan Valley Resort and ski slopes, Blackwater Falls State Park, Timberline Resort, the historic mountain towns of Davis and Thomas featuring Mountainmade.com with its fine arts and crafts , the Purple Fiddle with its unique alt -country music and the Whitegrass Cross country Ski Center and Organic Cafe.

Beautiful!

We loved it! The area was beautiful as was the home. There was a great backyard for our 2 small dogs. The deer came around in the mornings and we met a great big old ground hog. Lots to see and do. We went to Blackwater Falls, took a horseback ride to the top of Seneca Rocks, and so much more. Definately will be coming back!
