The Bluff House is perched on a dune overlooking Bluffton Bay and Muskegon Lake, on a peninsula between Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. The Bluffton area has a fascinating history and is a safe, friendly place to stay. It’s a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan and the surrounding dunes and forests. One can let their creative juices flow, or enjoy the work of several resident artists at local galleries in Lakeside and Muskegon. The view from the Bluff House is its finest point – 180 degree view of Bluffton Bay and Muskegon Lake. There is a large deck in the front and a small screened patio in the back. You can sit in the living room and enjoy the lake view or enjoy the surrounding trees and shrubs in the back. It’s a very secluded environment, yet it’s still in the city with all the activities an urban area entails. The Muskegon Yacht Club is directly across the street and the skippers are always looking for crew on Wednesday nights.

The Bluff House is located across the street from Muskegon Lake and the Muskegon Yacht Club. Lake Michigan is a short 1/4 mile walk or bike ride away. There are numerous bike paths, state park hiking, sailing, charter fishing, sandy beaches for swimming and sunning. Two water parks are a 15 minute drive away. There are the usual museums, parks, Party in the Park Fridays, and several festivals to experience. Best of all - four ice cream parlors with gourmet products are 1/2 mile away. Personally, sitting on the deck with a beverage and a book, enjoying the view every now and then, is the best way to utilize The Bluff House.

  • A $400 deposit is required upon reservation request.
  • Cancellation of the rental will result in a refund of the security deposit. The security deposit is fully refundable within 10 days after occupancy, providing that all aspects of the contract have been met and all real and personnel property belonging to The Bluff House are in the same condition as when occupancy commenced.
  • Rental Fee is due 60 days before check in day and must be in the form of a cashier's check or money order. Cancellation by the Renter after the rental fee is paid will result in the loss of rental cost. Cleaning fee for 2 weeks or more is $150.

Notes: Sunrises are a specialty at The Bluff House. Enjoying your coffee or breakfast on the deck watching a spectacular sunrise really is the best way to start the day. There are some extensive pink skies to stimulate your visual sense. Sunsets – you are on your own. However, it’s just a half mile to our beautiful sandy Lake Michigan beaches. A short walk, ride your bike, or drive to a delightful experience. Our beaches, break walls, and lighthouses will take your breath away. Fishing off the breakwater is permitted. Sailing and swimming lessons are available across the street at the Muskegon Yacht Club. There are also skipper chartered sailboat rides available for a fee. Muskegon Yacht Club offers sailing and swimming lessons for kids. Please check with the club for details at 231-755-1414. The stairway to The Bluff House is a bit of a challenge unless you drive your car up to the garage

There are a variety of ways to get to The Bluff House. One can arrive by car, utilizing the highways a few miles away. There is also the cross lake ferry which has three runs a day between Muskegon and Milwaukee just down the street a mile or two. One could ride their bike to the the ferry, spend day in Milwaukee and take the Ferry back, and rids their bikes to The Bluff House.The Bluff House is within 2 miles of the Ferry and 20 minutes of Michigan Adventure. There are many beautiful bike trails along Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake along the dunes and through wetlands. If you are a member of another yacht club, you could come by boat, dock at the Muskegon Yacht Club, and utilize the facilities such as the bar, restaurant, and pool. Your boat will be visible from the deck of The Bluff House.

The Bluff House provides WIFI for internet and Direct TV for satlite cable. The cable includes full sport and premium channels for your enjoyment

We were looking to get away from our busy urban lives and this was the perfect place. Our family had a great time here. The backyard is beautiful and the view from the living room is breathtaking. This was perfect, we had a marvelous time.

College roomate reunion

8 kids and 3 couples - was tight, but awesome. We enjoyed Michigan Adventure on Friday and marshmellows on Saturday night. We had a great time at the beach and enjoyed our weekend.

One month of enjoyment

We are a family of 6 and felt the house offered us all the amenities and comforts of home. The Bluff House is a truly magical place, with a stunning view of the harbor. We will now return to the Netherlands, rested and revitalized from our stay at the Bluff House. We will cherish the memories and recommend it to our friends.

Enjoyed ourselves with plenty to do

The house was a perfect size for our family of 6. Our 4 kids enjoyed the hillside setting. We would recommend the view from the front deck to anyone. It was wonderful to have all the conveniences of home at our fingertips.
