Headland House is a luxuriously appointed Orcas Island vacation rental home located in the upscale community of Spring Point above the glistening waters of Deer Harbor. Situated on a private 8-acre estate with BEACH ACCESS.

When sending us an inquiry please tell us a little bit about yourself and the purpose of the stay. We want to insure that Headland House is going to be the right fit as our rates are by bedroom. We ask that you please read through the entire listing before booking on line. When submitting inquires please advise how many bedrooms will be needed based on double occupancy per bedroom. Also, re-confirm the number of adults and ages of all children as VRBO has the default set at 2 adults.

Headland House is one of the few homes on the island that has a central Air conditioning system in the main house. Headland House offers one of the most stunning panoramic water views on Orcas island and is considered to be one of the finest vacation rental homes in the San Juan Islands. Headland House welcomes you with its Asian contemporary inspired design, enter the home through a walkway bridge and you will find yourself in this magical and whimsically decorated 5,750 sq ft, 6 bedrooms and 3.5 bath home that sleeps 12 guests. One of the nicest features is that every room has windows galore, bringing the outdoors in. An open floor plan provides wonderful togetherness from the professionally outfitted gourmet kitchen to the cozy luxurious living area to the wraparound covered porches with numerous private decks and patio areas adorning this special home.

Unique decorative accents will delight you as you make yourself at home. In every nook and cranny you will discover delightful accents and provisions such as, top of the line mattresses, TV's in most bedrooms hooked up to Dish network satellite premium movie channels, luxurious bath towels, spa towels and robes, high thread count linens, duvet covers, down alternative pillows and comforters to make your stay 'heavenly'.

A special feature of Headland House includes a detached guest house which is separated by a walkway bridge from the main house. Each home has its own separate entry and parking area. A cozy two bedroom one bath house in its own right, this delightful 'guest house' has a master suite with Queen size bed and has been decorated in a Serengeti theme with beautiful giraffe accent lamps and magnificent custom bedding. The second guest bedroom has magical tree monkey theme capturing your imagination for your restful repose at the end of the day, a trundle bed that makes up into two twin size beds and even has an African monkey sitting on the bed welcoming you. The living room area features a queen size sofa bed , a lovely dining area with enough seating for six guests, full kitchen complete with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, a full size bath, flat screen TV’s, DVD, guest house has its own laundry area with washer and dryer, and best of all - French doors opening up to the wrap around deck with the most amazing views where the ocean and mountains suddenly take on an unparalleled majesty.

In the main house you will find the first Master bedroom suite beautifully decorated in a Taj Mahal theme with a King size canopy bed with privacy panels, a 42” flat screen TV and DVD tucked away in an exquisite armoire. The adjoining master bathroom features double sinks, shower, large soaking tub.

The second master bedroom suite is located on the lower level in the east wing. This bedroom has been decorated in a lovely Japanese Tea Garden theme with a King size platform style bed, retreat area with sofa and triple dresser and television inside the armoire. Both master suites feature a comfortable seating area. You cannot miss the adjoining full size bathroom with a whimsical wall covering of Chinese cloths.

The third bedroom also has a king size platform bed and will cause you to day dream of far off places riding camels through the desert. This bedroom is located on the lower level east wing, features upscale quality furniture and bedding. French doors lead out to the in ground hot tub and private patio area. The guest house also has a (3 person) hot tub.

As you enter the great room living and dining room area you will be immediately drawn to the expansive ocean views with a full bank of windows that expands across the entire length of the room, large leather circular sofa which serves as a media room with a 105” projection theater room system with HD satellite TV, surround sound, Sony play station, DVD library in addition to a plethora of books for your reading pleasure, the most discerning chef will find himself in heaven in this gourmet kitchen, as preparations for sumptuous meals using upscale appliances, the dining area can comfortably seat 12 guests, laundry area with super large capacity washer and dryer. Head downstairs to the African elephant theme game room where you can enjoy a game of billiards, wet bar, flat screen TV, Ipod station and board games.

Rental Summary Fees:

*Rate Information: The Headland House property has two homes the main house has 4 bedrooms and the guest house has 2 bedrooms for a total of 6 bedrooms. We offer the option to rent just the main house, guest house or a combination of both homes. Guest House only option is only available to book through our own website.

Our rates are based on the total number of bedrooms required for the entire stay (each bedroom is double occupancy). Bedrooms in each of the houses that are not ordered are closed off (locked) during the stay. Main House One Bedroom rate includes use of 1.5 bathrooms.

* The base rate is for 1 bedroom. Each additional bedroom is $100.00 per night, plus tax, cleaning is included the rate.

Main House:

1 Bedroom (1-2 people) $150/nt

2 bedrooms (3-4 people) $200 to $250/nt

3 Bedrooms (5-6 people) $300 to$350/nt

4 Bedrooms (7-8 people) $400 to 450/nt

Guest House:

5 Bedrooms (9-10 people) 500 to 550/nt

6 Bedrooms (11-12 people) 600 to 650/nt

**Months of April, May, Sept, Oct (add $100/nt to rates shown above)

**Months of June, July and Aug, (add $200/nt to rates shown above)

Maximum Occupancy = 12 people (includes all adults, children, babies and infants as we charge for total occupancy.)

*Reservations Deposits: A 20% deposit is required at time of booking, the balance is due 60 days prior to arrival.

* Application Fee - $35.00 (waived for repeat guests) Damage Insurance $45.00 (required to rent this home).

* Time Change Option - $20.00/hr Early or Late Check out (not available summer season or on back to back bookings)

* Pets only accepted pets in Main House Only. SMALL PETS ONLY 25 lbs or less and must be pet carrier trained. Pet Fee - $25.00 /nt plus a $100.00 pet cleaning deposit.

* Main House Refundable Security Deposit - $250.00, Guest House Only

* Fireplaces are no longer available for guest use.

Cancellation Policy: No reservation holds are permitted. Once the property has been taken off the rental market with the calendar blocked and a booking confirmation receipt sent the terms of the cancellation policy will apply to all reservations. The cancellation fee is 20% for bookings made through our own website and 25% cancellation fee through the VRBOHomeAway booking site. No refund of previously paid deposits will be allowed unless the reserved property can be rebooked for the same reservation period and price. Refunds are based on any alternative revenue received, less a 20% cancellation fee of the total rental rate. Any such refunds will only be made once we have actually received the replacement reservation. Security deposits are fully refundable. It’s highly recommended that Trip Insurance is purchased should there be any unforeseen events that may require a cancellation.

Minimum Stay Requirements:

*July and August minimum 7 nights (Sunday to Sunday).

*We will consider shorter stays during the peak season if a full week stay has not been booked by the 15th of June with a surcharge of $250.00 for less than 7 nights.

*Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years Week minimum 5 nights.

*All other Federal Holidays 3 nights.

*Balance of the year flexible

A few highlights. Awesome Marine Views because we sit out on a point. End of the road privacy. Main house has three king size beds making this property really ideal for a couples retreat.

What makes this estate unique

Headland House sits at the end of a point which is why the home has spectacular views. One of the nicest features of the property is that the main house and guest house face in opposite directions and have parking at both locations so each home has really nice privacy.

The house was beautiful, the views were amazing, and the kitchen was better stocked than our own! (which is saying something!) Not only was it a truly gourmet kitchen, which is rare to find in a vacation rental, but they also provided fun amenities such as donut mix and pancake/waffle mix - with the appliances to make them, of course! My husband LOVED the 105" projection TV with surround sound, especially for Thursday night football. I believe he called it a "mangasm". :) We enjoyed breakfast and dinner seated at the outdoor dining area most days, and got to relax in the hot tub in the evenings. I also tremendously enjoyed the soaking tub in the master suite bathroom. All in all, it was a perfect getaway. We definitely plan on going back, next time with friends so we can fully enjoy the entire property, including the game room with the pool table and margarita machine!

Gorgeous, peaceful getaway!

I stayed at the guesthouse in November. I came to Orcas Island to get away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles for a few days. What a wonderful, peaceful oasis with the most amazing views! This place is absolutely gorgeous with plenty of wildlife all around (I think I saw about 5 deer during my two day stay).

The owners are very meticulous about their rental and rightly so. Everything is neat and clean and the thought they put into the guesthouse is evident. I really appreciated every detail they thought of. It was such a luxurious space and I really couldn't believe I had the luck to come across this fabulous rental!

I'm really looking forward to coming back here soon. Orcas Island is truly a magical place.

This was by far the nicest house we have stayed at and we do about 7 to 10 trips like this a year. From the view to the hotubs and the secluded location, we couldn't have hand picked a more perfect place for our family to spend Christmas. Can't wait to book it again come summer time. Everything in the house is labeled so you know how to use things you might have zero experience with as well as able to put and get things with the greatest of ease. Serenity and Space!

Everyone was impressed with the beautiful décor and thoughtful amenities in this lovely home. I must admit we were a little overwhelmed with the notebooks of rules and directions for everything you can imagine, but we appreciated the detailed instructions and expectations outlined for us. The owners were quick to make amends for a slight misunderstanding about our desired use of the sofa bed in the lower master bedroom and it was so nice to meet them personally when they came by Friday night. The home is spacious and the view is spectacular and serene. I especially enjoyed late nights sitting on the deck watching the clouds move over the water. I haven't heard quiet like that in years. I wish we had known to reserve the firewood ahead of time so we could have enjoyed a fire in the fireplace, but we survived without it and entertained ourselves just fine. Thank you for a memorable experience!

Excellent Rental Property!

Our stay for our one year anniversary was fabulous! The owners left us a bottle of wine as a gift and the place was immaculate, quite like a hotel! We could tell the owners were 100% professional. The bed was almost too comfy as I never wanted to get out of it. The amenities were more than we could have ever asked for! A large variety of pancake mixes, cupcake maker, all bath supplies included and much more! We will definitely be back in the summer with the kids. Thank you for making our little weekend amazing!

Perfect Home for Ocean View Photography

I booked the owners Montana home a few years ago and as so impressed with the stay that I checked out where their other homes were located for my annual photography trip. This was my first trip to Orcas Island and Headland House was the perfect choice another home with phenomenal water views. Richard the owner was so accommodating he even left his personal telescope out for me to use during the stay. The house was every bit as nice as their Montana home; these owners know how to pick houses with amazing water views. The house was immaculately clean and smelled so fresh which was a concern, as I normally do not rent homes that allow pets. Very large and spacious home but still cozy and comfortable for just one person. Interior design was done in good taste obviously done by a professional. Enjoyed taking long walks around the property and followed the patch down to the beach. Hiked up to Mt. Constitution, was fortunate it was a clear day for some great photo shots. Visited the town of Eastsound, quaint town with some really nice galleries and interesting shops, picked up a gift for my sister at the Salish Sea gift store. My stay went by way too fast, not enough time to take in everything there is to do on the island. Definitely coming back to explore more of what the San Juan islands and these owners homes will be first on my list.

Headland House A Joy! - Ocean Views with a Ringside Seat of Deer Harbor

The first surprises upon encountering Headland House are the seclusion and exterior layout of the home. The owners/builders did an exceptional job fitting the beautiful home into its surroundings. Once inside, Headland House is really luxurious and a great place for anyone who needs to “get away” from it all! The moment we walked in we were totally taken back by the ocean views, pictures just do not capture how expansive and delightful these marine views are. It was obvious, from the views to the rear of the home, that it is very secluded and surrounded by beautiful scenery in all directions. Another thing that pleased us was, the house is actually much closer to the water but sitting high enough up, that you can see straight down the channel, so we felt like we had paid for a ring side seat. Being a private pilot, the Beaver float planes coming in and out of Deer Harbor marina were a highlight of the trip. They are close enough to enjoy but far enough away to not be intrusive. The interior décor is well thought out and very pleasing. These owners have thought of everything. It has the best stocked kitchen we had ever seen. What amazed us is they had a fully stocked pantry that included many of the items that we thought that we would need to go to the store for. Pancake mixes along with the ingredients to make them for example. We had arrived on the last ferry and did not have time to shop so finding something to eat for breakfast was an unexpected treat in this vacation rental. We will definitely be back!

Security System: The home has an alarm with a video surveillance system which monitors the driveway entrance, parking area and entry way.
