Beware.

There is no pride of ownership here. This small condo has fallen into disrepair and is in need of a thorough cleaning. There have been no renovations at all to the kitchen or bathrooms. The photos do not accurately reflect the true condition of the kitchen. There is baked on grease stains under the microwave, directly over the stove, (which is probably as old as the building). The burned out cove lighting above the kitchen counter displays hundreds of dead bugs trapped there. The fridge door is stained with rust. There is no non-stick cookware, and there is no phone, so be aware that all your local calls made on your cellphone will be billed to you as long distance, if you are arriving from out of town. The 'new' furniture is already looking worn - dining room chairs are stained. The patio screen doors fall off their hinges, and the vertical blinds fall off when you try to open or close them. The bedroom broadloom is stained. The bathroom tub and shower head needs replacing. The toilet seats are so old, you can see the wood through the paint. There are literally hundreds of beautiful condo rentals on Marco Island that are comparable in price. However, if you want to stay here, be sure to ask the owner if the renovations have been done (decoration does not mean renovation). They should provide more accurate pictures as well. On a positive note, the view from the balcony is outstanding, although sun does not come into the condo until after 2pm., the sunsets are wonderful. The building's common areas (pool, tennis, etc.) are very well maintained, and there is a management office inside.
Owner's Response: We felt very saddened that this tenant felt so strongly about us not refunding the cleaning charge she asked for.
Upon check in (they arrived sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 pm) we received a call saying she was unhappy. She asked for a discount in the rate she had paid. The normal rate per week is $1900 plus cleaning and tax. For the 5 nights, last minute booking, she paid $600 plus cleaning and tax. So already had a wonderful deal. We offered her a full refund of her money if she did not want to stay.
Each day they stayed, there was a new list of demands. We tried to accommodate as much as possible, making several trips...even to turn on a light switch for a light that she said did not work. It is very unfortunate that people will continue to press their way for a reduction in the price, even after signing a contract and being offered a full refund.
This is our first complaint in 5 years. We did go over after they left. There were no "bugs" at all. There was some plaster that had falled onto the light. Because we DO try to keep our unit as nice as possible and had an empty week, we totally cleaned everything ourselves, replaced the fridge, microwave, both stools, and made sure everything was perfect. We do have professional cleaners come in after each visitor leaves...so it is always clean. We refused to give the cleaning credit. She responded that "you will be hearing from me".
Thank you for letting us respond to this complaint.
