Spectacular experience--made our trip extraordinary

We hosted a Bnai Mitzvah in Jerusalem this June. Being able to host several families from around the world in the same household comfortably--actually luxuriously--was terrific. We had parties in their huge dining room, which easily holds 16. Excellent value--the cost of us putting up 3 families was a fraction of the cost of putting people in hotel rooms and far more fun. Easy parking--you don't need a car
Panoramic view of the old city is breathtaking. Their picture is good--but sunsets, and other parts of the day are a real treat and a constant reminder of what a special place Jerusalem and the Old City is. The Abu Tour area is convenient, quiet, safe and pretty. Easy 10-15 minute walk to the Old City. The Mount Zion Hotel 2 minutes away has probably the best swimming pool in the city, and the King David Hotel about a 15 minutes walk away is a treat for a drink or dinner, though dining in the nearby German Colony is even better.
When we told our tour guide where we were staying--he said, let's meet at your house, the view to start is better than the place I usually start at. When the rabbi came to the house, he asked us for the owner's contact information, because he wanted to put up his family there when they come from the U.S. next year.
The kitchen is clean, spacious and well suited for cooking and entertaining. On one night we brought in a caterer the owner recommended who made a gourment (kosher) Morroccan Feast. Other nights we cooked.
The house is quite spacious and is the best of both worlds. Built over 200 years ago, there is a 1700's feel of stone, high ceilings, sense of history, combined with the modern amenities such as WiFi, mutli-zoned air conditioning, new kitchen appliances, good showers (they obviously put a lot into upgrades).
There are two fine master bedrooms--they were both so nice we could not decide which one we wanted. Both have very high ceilings--almost 20 feet high in one, the other in the front with its own bathroom and larger. To our pleasant surprise there are two (basic) rooms bedrooms upstairs, one suitable for a couple another for one person with their own room. The downstairs is an impressive collection of queen, single and bunk beds which was suitable for the kids of all different ages which became their party room. In addition, the living room (also with high celings) has a 2 comfortable couches (one a fold out bed) which the kids also liked.
All in all, a great experience--highly recommended
