Tulum House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Welcome to Casa Tranquillo. A beautiful beach house located on the pristine, white sandy beach near Tulum.

The house is situated at approximately the 3.2 kilometer point on the main beach road. This is the road that runs south along the beach to Punta Allen. The road was recently resurfaced with asphalt and is easy to drive. We are a relatively short 10 to 12 minute ride from Tulum and it is easy to find. Just look for the blue posts with round, red reflectors. Another reference is that we are just past the Aricifes Resort and just before La Luna and Ana y Jose’s Hotel and Restaurant. You will pass Maya Tulum, Amansala, los Aricifes before getting to us. We have a red private house sign on the two blue posts.

Casa Tranquillo is a spacious, 2000 square foot house that has 30 meters or about 100 feet of beautiful, white sand beach frontage, facing the majestic Caribbean Sea. We have wifi in the house so you can send pictures to your friends back home and make them jealous.

Casa Tranquillo has 3 spacious bedrooms, all with king-size beds. Each bedroom has easy access to one of the 2 restrooms, with one on each level. Both restrooms have showers. There is also an outdoor, cold water shower and foot wash for you to rinse off, after you have a swim in the rich, blue-green, Caribbean Sea or after a morning or evening stroll down the tranquil, white fine limestone sandy beaches. The third level roof, with easy access off the thatch covered balcony, offers great views of sunrises, sunsets or star lit skies.

I encourage you to rent a car to get around. Taxis run from $7 to $10 each way from town to the house. If you elect to not rent a car, you could consider renting bicycles in the nearby village of Punta Piedra.

Your private beach-front home is surrounded by tropical and beach plants, including palm trees with coconuts, beautiful white beach lilies and many other native trees and plants.

This area of the Caribbean Sea is the home to many types of sea life, but of interest to you are the sea turtles. The turtles return to the beach where they were born to lay their eggs in the mid to late summer. If you are fortunate to be here during that season, you will be able to see these majestic 300 plus pound giants exit the sea and dig their nest.

The downstairs of the house is designed to be an open and friendly living area. The kitchen service bar separates the kitchen from the dining or leisure space. You can sit on a bar stool and sip your morning coffee, talking with those preparing breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped with a variety of appliances, including a gas stove with an oven and a gas refrigerator with a freezer. We also have a selection of cooking utensils, pots and pans, plates, glasses, cups, a electric juicer, coffee maker, toaster, and a blender for mixing the margaritas in the evening. Service for ten is provided. We will provide plenty of bottled drinking water during your stay. The European propane gas refrigerator is spacious enough to store your fresh meat and produce purchase in town. The freezer is large enough for ice trays and several quarts of your favorite Mexican Ice Cream

If barbequing is your thing, we have a propane gas grill that can be rolled out the back door to grill hamburgers, hotdogs, steaks or fresh fish you purchase at the local fisherman’s market in town.

We have a hammock between a couple of coconut trees and chairs to lounge around on the second deck and more chairs on the top to enjoy your favorite beverage watching the sun come up or the moon and stairs. Lounge around and read your favorite book you brought along, or pick one from our library, or use them to take a traditional Mexican Siesta or nap.

One of the owners will be in Tulum during your stay, to personally attend to you and your group, in the event you have any questions or encounter any unforeseen problems. To make your stay less stressful and make contact with us easy, we will loan you a Mexican prepaid cell phone with our numbers pre-programmed to make reaching out easier.

Since there is no electrical service along the beach road, electricity at Casa Tranquillo is provided by a bank of solar panels. The power is stored in a bank of batteries and then converted using an inverter, so the house has US Standard 120v power. We use eco-friendly low wattage bulbs and try to conserve as much as possible. Please help us conserve electricity at all times.

Casa Tranquillo is equipped with a satellite dish antenna and we have Shaw Satellite television out of Canada but it has the major US networks for your evening entertainment. If you bring DVDs, you can watch them on our DVD player.

To help you enjoy the beach, we have 6 beach chaise lounge chairs, 12 Adirondack chairs and three palyapas (one with swings), out in front of the house. Do not forget the hammock too. We also have 2 sea kayaks and 5 boogie boards for you to use in the surf during your stay.

You can prepare your own meals in your own kitchen after shopping at the various open markets and shops in Playa del Carmen or Tulum. Or we have a couple of companies that can cook all your meals and cater to your every wish. We have an arrangement where you can have a private chef come in and prepare all your meals for you. Let us know if this is an option and when you book with us we will have you get in contact with him.

We hope that this will help you plan and prepare for a great stay at our house. There is a Mexican saying 'Mi Casa Es Su Casa', which translates as 'My House Is Your House'. We truly want you and your group to enjoy your stay in your house.

About Craig Stewart

We built the house for our families to stay in when the visited and decided to remodel the house and make it available to others through VRBO. Craig lives in Tulum year round and the other lives in Colorado Springs, CO and visits frequently.

Craig Stewart purchased this house in 1998

Why Craig Stewart chose Tulum

The Beautiful Beach says it all. Nothing but white sand and coconut trees. The beach is 'kid friendly'. No undertow, no currents, no rocks only the waves and the white sand. Boogie boarding with the waves, sea kayaks when the ocean is flat.

What makes this house unique

The Tulum Beach is ranked as one of the top destination beachs in all of Mexico and the world. Just look at the pictures and read the client critiques and you will see what we mean.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This guest review was posted on our Flipkey site and i have copied it here for your review.

My family, including two teens, and some family friends shared the house for the Thanksgiving holiday. The location couldn't be more perfect, right on the ocean, with snow white sand. We could hear the crashing waves and feel the sea breeze every night. Mike and Craig are wonderful, answering all our questions and providing every amenity needed, including coconuts that were peeled and ready to drink! We tried out the kayaks and body boards in the waves. Sat under palm trees and caught up on our reading. Watched the sunset from the rooftop deck in the evening. Made use of the kitchen for breakfast, lunch, appetizers, drinks -- with dinner at terrific restaurants located right on the beach within walking distance, I don't think I wore shoes the entire week! The wifi is weak, just enough for a quick email check, which can be a good thing if you really want to get away from it all. And if you can drag yourself away from Casa Tranquillo, there's plenty to do nearby: Tulum ruins, a walk through town, boat snorkeling trips, biosphere. A lovely lovely holiday. We'd definitely come back.

We LOVED our stay at the beach house! We brought our four children ages 13, 10, 6, and 4 and they all had a wonderful time. The house was very accomodating with everything we needed. There is so much to see and do in Tulum!- we will definitely go back to the same house and finish what we missed! We would absolutely recommend this house to anyone! It's fun to hear the ocean waves and to walk out the front to a beautiful beach / ocean view. The beach is not crowded like Can Cun. Plenty of crab/ turtle hunting and the kids loved body surfing every day. My husband enjoyed reading his book under the palapa! Craig and Mike are easy to get in contact with to help or give advice. VERY nice guys thay went over and beyond what a hotel clerk would do. It's a beautiful place to visit - a "real" Mexican place without the tourist hype. A great education for our children along with a beautiful place to vacation!

Great setting on a beautiful beach

  • 5 of 5

We rented for a week. House had everything you needed and beach was unbelievable. Owners were easy to deal with and very informative about what to do in the area. Great restaurants walking distance on the beach. Stars on the roof were amazing. A terrific place to get away from it all and relax.

Great place to stay on the beach!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Casa Tranquilllo for 4 days in January 2015 with my husband and another couple, and had an amazing 4 day stay. The house is right on the beach, walking distance to some restaurants, and it was easy to catch a taxi outside of the house when wanting to travel further away. The beach is amazing (the highlight really is the outdoor table with swings)! The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable, and there was more than enough room for two couples to stay and not feel on top of each other.

Craig was always available to help us throughout our visit. Manuel was also available - he was the best - getting us fresh coconuts from the trees, and making sure we had everything we needed!

I hope that I will have an opportunity to travel to Tulum again and stay here in the future!

Fabulous Girls' Getaway Weekend

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Casa Tranquillo last week for four nights - five college friends having a much-needed girls' weekend getaway. It was the perfect location and the beach front setup was ideal. Craig and Manuel were both terrific and took good care of us. The kitchen set up is pretty simple, but totally sufficient for simple meal prep and cocktailing. We can't wait to go back and enjoy that view and the crystal clear waters of Tulum. A little slice of heaven!

Big Family, big fun!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Tranquillo is an awesome beach house on a perfect stretch of Tulum Beach. Comfortable beds in large bedrooms (even enough room for a queen air bed for the kids) spacious bathrooms and lots of Hot Water!! The owner available for any minuscule problem that arises. Also with some great tips about Tulum. I highly recommend this Casa for your family vacation! We had 10 people ranging from 70's down to kids under 11. Plenty of space for private time and an awesome rooftop for stargazing. Casa Tranquillo is definitely where you want to stay!

Right on the beach!

  • 5 of 5

This is a really fantastic house. Our family of five (kids aged 1, 4, & 7) stayed at Casa Tranquillo during the second week of February and had an incredibly relaxing week. Its location right on the beach is fabulous – I could watch the kids frolic in the ocean while I was doing the dishes. It is well stocked with basically everything you need to cook and there is a large supermarket nearby. It has a private outdoor space with shower, sunchairs, and palapas for shade. Sunlovers have a nice roofdeck as well.

The owners are are great hosts who are readily accessible if problems arise (we didn’t have any). Highly recommended.

While visiting the Mayan Riviera and the Ancient Tulum Ruins and the village of Tulum you are our guest and we want you to enjoy your vacation! I recommend that you purchase one of the many tour guide books such as the Lonely Planet Guides to Mexico and preplanned some activities, If you are a AAA member, stop by your local AAA office and pick up the Mexico Guide for a listing of attractions in the area, There a number of great restaurants located within walking distance of your Beach Retreat, I cannot pass up the opportunity to plug my own place, There are also a number of enjoyable places in town such as Charlie's, La Nave (for good Italian pizza and pasta) or Don Cafeto's.
