Location, Location, Location: Not many properties beat this location! It's just a very short four minute walk to downtown Saugatuck. The Saugatuck Center for the Arts, Restaurants, Art Galleries, Shops, Shopping, Bars, etc.
Lake Michigan: Our central location allows you the opportunity to walk to Oval Beach via the Chain Ferry however there are several hills. You can also take the local 'Dial A Ride' (Interurban). It's very cheap and will pick you up at the Cottage and take you anywhere in Saugatuck, Douglas or Saugatuck Township.
I enjoy walks on the beach, entertaining on the large deck and enjoying the great theatre down the street at the Mason Street Warehouse.
Paul purchased this cottage in 2002
I loved visiting Saugatuck and decided to buy a home here. It's been great and what a great way to enjoy the area by staying in downtown Saugatuck!
This home exceeded our expectations. It was clean, well decorated, and a great layout for two people such as ourselves or many more if you had guests. Paul, the owner made it easy to get the keys and in addition, called to check on us and offer advice on the best places to eat. We loved being able to walk the short way into the town for food and shopping. It was a treat to not have to use our car and the offerings for breakfast, lunch and dinner were numerous and wonderful. Lovely, friendly people were at all the shops. We returned on Saturday and have already given this recommendation to our friends. We look forward to returning one day.
You really can't beat the location of this charming little cottage. We found the layout perfect for a get away and the kitchen had everything we needed. We walked downtown each day for ice cream or dinner, and didn't have to worry about parking our car in busy Saugatuck. The drive to the beach or Douglas is short and you can come back to a relaxing evening on the patio with hot tub. Paul was very responsive to emails and texts and shared info on area restaurants, etc.
We didn't realize that our security deposit wasn't promptly returned, but the owner did. He emailed us and let us know that he was going to clear up that glitch with VRBO and the refund was issued without even asking.
When we first arrived we were surprised at how big it was and how much "hang out " space we had! The kitchen was very large and perfect for when we had a few friends over one of the nights! The house is set up in such a way that it is perfect for a weekend away with friends because of the open concept and Tons of kitchen space for entertaining, not to mention the HOT tub! Also it was right Accross from the lake and super close to downtown. "You can totally walk" The owner was very down to earth and even had a bottle of wine picked out for us. " it was a special weekend. " I loved the garden in the back and enjoyed the wildlife it brought in and the art work threw out the home was beautiful and fun to learn about. We will for sure be back!!
The house was bigger then we thought it would be and was clean and beautifully decorated with interesting and amazing artwork. The owner was very thoughtful and had a bottle of wine for us and we were very close to everything we wanted to do downtown. It was comfortable and the kitchen was perfect for cooking and entertaining when we decided at the last minute to have a few friends join us. There was tons of space and everything was modern and easy.
Very close to downtown/Saugatuck and not to bad of a hike to South Haven either. It is very nice inside and a hot tub.
This was a girlfriends' getaway weekend and we had a great time. The cottage is a little smaller than I had imagined, but did well for us because we were willing to sleep on sofas. Great kitchen, hot tub, back yard and a short walk to town. The cottage was very clean, had plenty of linens and supplies and is very well maintained.
The cottage is furnished beautifully and there are a few pieces of antique furniture and glass display cases. I would be cautious about small children or pets for this reason. Paul was friendly and helpful.
I would recommend this place for a great summer cottage.
