IN VILLAGE WITH A THOUSAND YEARS OF HISTORY

Pezenas Townhome Rental Photos and Description

Townhome, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5-6)

Escape the stress of modern life to a village with a thousand years of history. Our town house in Alignan du Vent is a mere five minutes from the delightful market town of Pezenas.

• Elegant village house within a 15th century village sleeping 2/5 people (plus cot).

• Completely refurbished to a high standard with some personal

antiques.

• Grand double bedroom with ensuite shower room makes it also suitable for just

a couple.

• Large open useable marble fireplace on ground floor.

• Equipped with Internet/Wifi; sateliteTV/DVD; CD Player; iPod speakers

Set within the conservation area of Alignan du Vent, this house has been refurbished to retain its simple but elegant grandeur from a by-gone age. Enter over the stone ledge and through the old wooden door into a small porch leading to an open plan hall and living area. The floor is early 20th century mosaic in the belle époque tradition. Flanked by an elegant tall French window, the open marble fireplace adds interest to a room that has a sofa, chairs and a wooden table with seating for six. A small but complete kitchen is separate with a storage area adjoining.

Off the end of the hall you enter the truly grand, well worn stone stairway with iron balustrade that goes up to the second and third floors. On the first landing there is great great grandfather’s shipping box that accompanied him from Liverpool to America.

On the second floor is a lovely bedroom with a double iron bed beneath iron calabra light. Another marble fireplace and a long French window that looks down on the wide outer street of the circulade village of Alignan du Vent. A great place to observe village life. The room includes an ebony bureau and half wardrobe/armoire. Through traditional French doors is the ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin (the French doors can be closed off for entry only by the hallway).

Onto the third floor for another double and a single bedroom. These are atmospheric bedrooms with beams and traditional tiled floors. This floor lead onto the mezzanine roof garden where under large electric operated dormer windows you will find a sofa, table and chairs – and a myriad of plants and palms. A great place for your morning coffee and croissant, or evening drink.

The village itself is lovely experience. The house is just a few meters away from the village center. The village has two fantastic bakeries, two shops, cafe, bar, hairdresser, pharmacy, and even a part-time butcher. In the summer season there are 'brasucades' which visitors to the village are welcome.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We want you to know how much we love your house here in Alignan! It has truly been everything we had hoped it would be. We can see what would have drawn you to the area. The stairs are amazing - the pictures of them don't do them justice. We will them . . .

A RARE DELIGHT

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed this wonderful home for 10 days, using it as our base to explore the Languedoc area of southern France. Margaret welcomed us with warmth and kindness, from her own home in England. The house is everything Margaret describes on her site and I've suggested to her that she add more photos to show many more of its good qualities. The home is ancient but the owners have made it shine and function as a completely modern home. Everything is very comfortable, the kitchen very well supplied with all you need to entertain. The furnishings are a lovely mix of old and new. Totally recommend this fabulous piece of architecture in this delightful old village of Alignan du Vent. It is a central yet rural setting to enjoy the vineyards, the Med. beaches and the abundant antiquity within 100 miles. From Carcassonne, Perpignan and Sete to the fantastic Pont du Gard, Nimes coliseum, Millau bridge and Pont d'Avignon.
