SALMON RUN BEACH GETAWAY - RIGHT ON BEACH - WEST SIDE - MANY RETURNING GUESTS

Coupeville Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5), On water, Olympic Mountain view

The Salmon Run Beach Getaway is situated on the beach on 60 feet of no-bank waterfront near Coupeville, on the sunny west side of beautiful Whidbey Island. What an awesome panorama! Sip an evening glass of wine or a morning coffee and gaze at the snow-capped Olympic Mountains, see the big ships go by, watch the eagles fish - or maybe spot porpoise, seal or the occasional whale playing in the water.

Watch hawks hunting in the prairie from the deck on the other side of the cottage. Feel yourself unwind! Some of the best salmon fishing is to be had right in front of the cottage! The Coupeville area offers many quaint shops and restaurants within a short drive, or walk/drive onto the nearby ferry and take a day trip to Port Townsend. Many activities are at hand – hiking, biking, golf, fishing, bird watching, beach walks, and diving. The cottage is approximately 1100 square feet and is decorated in a beach theme, with an interesting mix of new and antique. Wi-fi. IPOD sound system. Your lodging sleeps a maximum of 5 persons: the master bedroom has a Queen bed with a down/feather comforter, loft has twin beds, and the small bedroom has a twin bed. There is one full bathroom.

This waterfront getaway has been open since 2003 and many guests have returned for the beautiful location and clean, well-equipped accommodation. Owner-managed and cleaned!

Here we are - Bill and Sandy - fishing for salmon right on our beach in front of the Salmon Run Beach Getaway just as the sun is setting over the Olympic Mountains. We have spent fun times with our 3 children and friends at our cottage and have made many lifetime memories. We love sharing our vacation home with our guests and want you to enjoy it just as much as we do!

Sandy and Bill purchased this cottage in 2003

We fell in love with Whidbey Island and then with the cottage and its amazing water views and beach-front location. On the other side of the cottage is a wide open prairie where we watch birds of prey hover. We like to ride our tandem bicycle, fish, and take walks. Coupeville is right in the middle of Whidbey Island so it is an ideal location. We ride our tandem to the ferry and take it over to Port Townsend for the day or ride into Coupeville to pick up a huge cinnamon roll at the Knead and Feed bakery or have a red ale at Toby's.

We enjoy the wonderful location, sitting on our deck with a cup of tea or glass of wine watching what is coming through the shipping lanes - a cruise ship, submarine, or tug boat pulling a barge. We have seen seals, dahl porpoise, many sea birds, eagles, and sea otters. We keep wanting to explore more of the island but when we reach the cottage, we never seem to want to leave it!

PERFECT WEEKEND!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great weekend at the Salmon Run Beach Getaway. The house is perfect for a small group or family. The kitchen is well equipped and the house was very clean. The view was great too! We will definitely return.

FANTASTIC PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and 8 yr old daughter and I had such a fabulous time here! Waking up to harbor porpoises, fish jumping, birds singing, sun shining and the light waves crashing on the beach. We really enjoyed the comforts of the house and the surrounding views are beautiful! Very clean, cute & comfortable home. And Sandy & Bill were very quick to respond to my emails when we were close to checking in.

We really enjoyed the short drive up to Deception Pass which has great hiking trails through big beautiful trees and coastline trails, beaches, boat rides & kayaking!
I was so sad when it was time to go. We would highly recommend this place! We hope to be back again next summer! :)

SALMON RUN BEACH GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I had a very enjoyable time being right on the water. The advertisement was just as pictured. Our host's were very gracious and the cottage was very welcoming. We had lived in the area many years ago and had fun going to old favorite spots such as Coupeville and Deception Pass; and even some new places. Found some great items at the Freeland antique shop. The house was comfortable and had all the comforts of home. Hope to visit again and would recommend it to others.

3 GENERATIONS OF FUN

  • 4 of 5
My husband and I decided to take our daughter and her 4 year old and 7 month old daughters for a get away. I wanted to be on the water and around activities. This little slice of heaven was perfect!! The 4 year old loves to collect rocks...and the beach is all rock and driftwood...not sand. But her favorite thing was the loft with a plethora of toys!! She fell in love with the pirate ship!! The location was so close to all that we went to Coupeville for some incredible Penn Cove mussels for lunch then off to Double Bluff Beach for shell hunting. Next day we went to Fort Casey where we watched 9 deer graze and wander then we were off to Langley for lunch and a bit of chocolate shopping at Sweet Mona's (one of my favorite places). In the afternoon my granddaughter and I would walk to Driftwood State Beach 3 houses down so she could explore. This home was warm, inviting and don't get me started on the queen bed. I slept so well and the 4 year old wants grandma to get her own "squishy" bed!! It was like sleeping inside a cloud!! My daughter loved that the fireplace would kick on at night if the house got below the temp we had set. She also enjoyed sleeping in the loft with the youngest. What luck to have a mascot seagull who we named Walter Middy. He visited every day and enjoyed "people watching". Yes, we will be back....the 4 year old asked to go back within two days of getting home. That says it all!!

CHARMING CABIN, FABULOUS LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Our family took a winter weekend at the cabin and enjoyed it thoroughly. The cabin was cheerful and cozy, and being right on the water we had fabulous views to enjoy even if the weather was too cold for hiking. My son and I are birders, and hadn't realized we were plunk in the middle of some of the best birding not only on the island, but in the state. We got bored counting the herons, we saw hawks we had never seen before, and the bald eagle on the pole in the front driveway was completely immune to our presence and the barking dogs walking by. We were just minutes away from the shops and restaurants in Coupeville, and interesting hiking and history in nearby state parks. We will return!

SISTER'S 50TH BDAY!

Sister's 50th BDay!
  • 5 of 5
This was the cutest, most comfortable cabin I have stayed in. The queen bed with the extra luxurious comforter was wonderful. Kitchen had everything we needed. Bathroom too. The weather was a little gray but we still went out and looked around. The view was truly amazing from the cabin itself. On our way in we went to Coupeville and looked around at the shops and had a great lunch. We are already trying to figure out when we can come again! Thanks so much!

Step out of the cottage and go fishing or relax on your own private slice of beach. Watch the big shipping traffic pass by as you sit on the deck - you may see a submarine. Hike, fly a kite, or visit the lighthouse at nearby Fort Casey State Park. Ebey's Landing is the best place for a sunset and the most beautiful hike you can imagine - walk along the cliff - from the top you can see both the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges - then look for agates along the beach on the return trip. Drive a few minutes to the Coupeville ferry terminal and take a day trip to Port Townsend - watch out for orcas or porpoise as you cross - there, visit the Northwest Maritime Center, buy delicious bread at Pane Amore or visit the farmers market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A 10-minute drive from the cottage takes you to historic Coupeville - sample an ice cream at Kapaws, visit the Coupeville Museum, or try eating fresh mussels at one of our local restaurants - Saturday 10-2 is the Farmers Market behind the Coupeville library. Drive a short distance and have a loganberry pie at the Greenbank Farm, visit Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens, or try wine tasting at several Whidbey Island wineries. Don't forget to check dates for the many festivals going on around the Island. You won't run out of things to see and do!
